If you increase your bet, does that increase your odds of hitting one of the progressives?

Thank you Marc. It’s also difficult to because as you said in the first video the verbiage is always a word salad. Plus each game says it a different way while all meaning relatively the same thing. Always appreciate your tips and keep up the great work!
Very responsible of you to make this video. Also important to note that if the language used by the manufacturer wasnt so ambiguous it probably wouldnt have happened. You shouldnt need a lawyer to translate the jargon on a slot machine.
Thanks, Proudmonkey 😊
Transparency is something that is severely taken for granted in today's world. Anybody/any channel that can be transparent (especially when it comes to slot machines and gambling), deserves a lot of respect.
We appreciate that.
Great of you Marc. Now I hope one day that the mainstream media can be as honest as you 😮
well said!
Listen to MSM, then do your own research on top of it. Don't believe (or not believe) based off your own biases going in. Plus, this is a slot channel, keep it fun and light! 😊
@@DiamondDon19Media has a Bias going in, not me. Don't tell me what to watch or what not to say 🤔
Hey Marc, love the honesty. The language on most games sucks to begin with, I never understood them 100% before your explanations. Thanks and Good Luck to you all at Winstar. 👍
And that's why you guys are the best! Full transparency.
Marc, I take my hat off to you! You are a top notch knowledgeable and truthful man. Like I said in that video, reading the info listed on the machine is double talk. Just like lawyers write.
And you hv the job of putting it in words for us Normal people (although I'm not sure if I'm normal ha,) to understand.
I appreciate yr clarifying yr explanation very much.
5 stars for this video!
Marc: 5 stars
Dave: 0 stars
HA😅
LOL - Thanks Janet :)
Thanks for clarifying. You keep us grounded and ready to have fun!
Love the honesty and transparency! This is the channel I follow and am a member of because you guys truly care about helping people with your knowledge of slots. Thanks so much!
Thanks Mark. It takes cojones to admit you made a mistake. Gamble responsibly and comfortably within your bankroll is rule #1 for sure! I would add that on some games, betting too low means you are not eligible for some of the JPs. Example: on Dancing Drums (og) a .38 bet can *only* win the Mini. If you get the pot to close, it awards the Mini without letting you pick FuBabies. Another Example: On most QuickHits, not betting Max bet means you can get a feature bonus, but you will *not* be eligible for the Quickhit symbol Jackpots. You do get a lesser amount for say 5 QH symbols, but it will be a multiple of your bet size. The QH Jackpots do say ‘at max bet’ underneath in small letters. Players need to understand this and play accordingly.
GREAT job as ever i trust you guys more than the other people because you correct your mistakes or let us know what to watch for. Transparency is what alot of the others miss..thanks again for your information !
Marc, I can't tell you the level of respect I have for your honesty. Not a lot of those in gambling channels ever own up to their mistakes. This just solidified why I followed your channel in the first place. Really appreciate seeing this, thank you for clearing up what was left out from the earlier video. You are the man! 😊
I appreciate that
Appreciate the clarification! This is what sets you guys apart from the rest. Cheers to your continued success!
Thanks, Marc. I do not play a lot of penny slots(not pennies) as you know. But, that is good information when I do. Also, it is really great to say don't bet more thinking you will win more. One time we brought double the bankroll. The trip was one of the worse ones we had ever had! We lost!Really lost. I try to just bring a normal amount. Normally we can come back with 1/4 or half or break even. Getting frustrated and trying to win more is a disaster waiting to happen.Going in about a week and bringing the gamble boxes so excited to see if we can do even better this time with them. Last time we brought back $850.00. That is pretty good. Almost half of our bankroll.Better than nothing which has happened,
Just like gambling, you win some you lose some. Keep up the great work!
Oh darn! I’m going to Winstar NEXT weekend 4/21 to 4/22!! I’m hoping to meet y’all one day!! ❤️🎰💵🙌🏻
My daughter won a $5000 jackpot on a 60 cent bet....So it's very possible, just not very probable.....
Thank's for correcting your video .We appriciate it! You're one of the best channels out there!
And that’s what makes you so awesome 😎 Thanks for taking the time to clear up any misunderstanding about the language.
Love the channel! Thanks for the video! Sweet shirt Marc!
Always good when u can say u didnt get something, not exactly right... congrats on the 10k!!🥳👍🥳👍🥳
Integrity and transparency are so important to us. Thank you.
Thank you for such a nice clip. This game is very difficult to get a bonus round. I bit 10cents, 5cents, 2cents , took my $300 and no bonus at all.
I love all the info that you give and appreciate learning from you.
Nice shirt Marc ! Thanks.
Love your shirt! Great video Marc.
Great shirt. Nice to see the correction. I think the important thing is "know the rules of the game you are playing." Some games you cant hit the top progressives unless you are betting max, some you dont get access to all the bonus options, differences in line pays/number of lines....obviously it's stacked in the house's favor, no reason to give them even more of an edge.
Agree....the important thing is read the rules and understand them. Don't just make assumptions. In cases this I just want to know my bet makes me eligible to win the progressives. I'm not betting more then I feel I should just to have slightly better chance of something with relatively long odds.
Good Friday Morning Marc, thanks for making the correction, have fun at the Casino and i think 🤔 you look nice in your shirt. 😊
Thanks Marc. We appreciate you clarifying and detailing what you meant. Nice shirt! Aloha, from Hawaii.
Thank you Mark. I loved it that you are a stand up guy. Thank you for letting us know.
I appreciate that.
Thanks Marc. Have a great weekend!
Great channel and good info. Question: I like to play more the modern slots. Do you know which modern slot machines has a low volatility? Is this the case also for Buffalo Gold, because there aint progressive jp's? Tnx!
Most modern slots are higher in volatility, especially the Buffalo games.
Thank you Mark! And gambling smart!
Thanks for the update. Best wishes tomorrow.
Good stuff, thanks !! Let's go sat. Night 🙏🙏
Thanks appreciate it!!
It’s still better to bet 50 credits on 10c vs 500 credits on 1c since higher denominations tend to have higher payback percentages!
Correct!
This is true partly, high denoms do have higher payback % but, betting max on lower denoms can provide larger ball amounts and or progressives/bonuses on the hold and spins games.
thank you, good advice.
Happy Friday, Marc! Thanks for the clarification - I still don't trust progressive penny slots because of their high volatility. My friend and I are going gambling tomorrow afternoon, and I'm not sure if I'll get back in time for your planned live session. Best of luck and have a great weekend!
Good luck! YOu can always catch the replay at some point. I have to do that sometimes.
Alan..penny slots are not always high volatility, but they do have one thing always in common.. that is ,lower payback percentages.
OMG 11,600 Subs crazy increase in short time BUT so well desired! Thanks for clarification. Wish instructions were in English not lawyerize. Good luck at Winstar
I think it’s also worth mentioning that some games, like 88 Fortunes, if you aren’t betting with all symbols “UP” or active, when you get the progressive pick bonus you don’t even qualify for the grand or even the major. I do believe if you are playing with the least amount of symbols active you only qualify for the mini jackpot.
True. I came to find this. Same goes on Dancing Drums (og).
Just found your channel. Love the useful info. Where can I buy slots machines for my home? A lot of the online searches look like scams.
Email us and we can help: gamblesmartgamblesafe@gmail.com
Can you please dive into Video Poker and Keno machines? Game King, Gambler Bonus, and U1 differences and volatility, odds, etc.?
Good point on looking at the progressive changes with increased denom. since the odds of hitting the big jackpot are still astronomical given a choice on a game like dragon link betting a 1 credit per line 25 line dime or nickel denom as opposed to full credit penny for same total amount no stay within budget is my preference as minis and minors are not uncommon and increase based on denom. Obviously it depends on the game selected as well and the complicated rules. Good Luck tomorrow night.
Love the Aloha Shirt Marc! No worries, it's VERY appropriate to wear that on an ALOHA FRIDAY. For Hawaii locals, Every Friday is Aloha Friday!
Love it!!
@@GambleSmart but just for the record, I knew what you meant the FIRST time. 😉
The most important part of your first video was that we should never bet over our gambling budget. Yeah, betting max coins and higher denoms gets you better odds of hitting the progressive, but it all comes back to your budget. A high volatility machine will usually need a lot of spins to get a bonus where lower volatility machines will usually get a bonus on fewer spins.
This is more of a question for the video the other day when you were talking about how slots work and the how the digital reels play out. When someone fast spins or stops the spin short, does that change the odds at all or is it predetermined from the first press and letting it roll out compared to stopping it quickly has no effect?
It's determined the moment you push the spin button or pull the handle. Nothing you do after that makes any impact.
@@GambleSmart Awesome I always thought it was like that. My friend swears it's the opposite. Thanks for the quick reply, take care.
Thanks Mark .... you did well .
Appreciate the correction Marc. Does it apply only to the progressives on must hit by machines or any machine with a progressive? Thank you.
No, must hit by progressives are different. For those, whenever it resets, the RNG will pick a number within the range and store that in memory. Once the progressive meter reaches that number, the progressive is awarded and the process repeats itself. The more you bet, the faster the meter climbs.
Got it. Thank you so much for your response.
You are the greatest!!!❤
Is it possible for you to dig into the Marh behind that chance increase?
Two main things missing that cause the confusion here. First is to introduce progressives including the mini and minor as simply bet multiplier results on a pay table. If you have a 10 dollar mini, getting a 10 dollar spin to register could be with a mini coin or a 10 dollar credit coin. It is all cosmetic. Max betting for a denom for example you get way more minis and higher credit coins proportionately. Secondly, metered progressives are also just another result on the pay table without the extra saved amount factored into the probability of hitting. So it follows the same rules as all other pays, just with less matching visual combinations.
You guys are great🎉
You also forgot to mention that you have to turn the volume all the way up, rub the screen with your hand, and/or tap the screen with one hand while slapping the button as many times as you can with your other hand during the bonus 😜
🤣🤣🤣 and move the change in one pocket tk the other pocket
We call it Indian voodoo. Drives us mad! 😂😂
Walk around the chair 3 times
Hi 😊 I have another request and/or suggestion for you. Would you do some reaction videos of YT slot play? for example, I saw somebody play extremely high denomination and win $1 million online. We would love to hear your thoughts on other slot videos, both in terms of what their betting and the correlation to what they won. Ty!
That makes sense in my experience I used to play penny's wat 5 max I noticed I hit alot more mini and minors but when it comes to the major I always it at the larger amount
I mostly just want to know what progressives I'm eligible for with my bet. Slight better chances at something with relatively long odds isn't going to sway me one way or other in most cases.
Smart man
I've won a 1,520.00 jackpot .88 cent bet and 1,320.00 on a 1. 50....last year...we are programed to bet hirer..... been going to casinos for 40 years...
Hi sorry if you have answered this before. But do quick spins change the outcome vs regular spins? Thanks! Dying to know!
Quick spin or fast stopping makes no impact on the outcome. The outcome was decided the first time you hit the spin button - everything you see after that is visual.
@@GambleSmart awesome! Thanks for the reply!
Great shirt 😃
Headed to winstar this weekend myself!
thank you
Thank YOU for being part of the heart of Gamble Smart, Susan! ♥️
I thought you were going to Hawaii with the shirt on ❤😅
You are just fine !
One thing I wanted to bring up. What does cooldown mean? When slot techs come to a machine with a handpay or jackpot. They put their card in to transfer the funds so they can go and get the winnings. They push some buttons on the little points screen. Well I've noticed the last button They sometimes press is cooldown. Seen it first hand many many times. Also they don't do it everytime. What does cooldown mean???
There is no such thing as a cooldown - I've never seen that before, but even if it exists, I can tell you with 100% certainty, it's not "cooling" down the machine from paying. :)
I've heard some recommend the PLAYER "cooling down" (taking a bit of a breather, break) after getting a win so they can think and make wise choices and not just sink their winnings back into the game. 🙂
different game maybe same concept. so on dragon link, buffalo link, and lighting links when they say (an increase in wager proportionally increases the odds of winning the the grand/major jackpot) so does "wager" matter on the denom for these games (say i bet $5 max bet pennies do i have the same odds if i bet $5 min bet $1 denom?) it is a higher wager from the min 50 cent bet in general. or if i bet $3.75 min on 25 cent denom its lower then $5 max pennies but its on a higher denom, can you explain this the best you can please and thank you :)
Same thing as we talked in this video. The closer your total $ wagered is to the progressive amount the greater the odds.
Ok awesome thank you, one more questions when the game rules say (linked progressive- grand jackpot) that means its linked to those four slots only in the bank of slots correct? so anybody playing those 4 slots have a chance or winning that grand
That's correct - just means that all 4 machines are feeding into that progressive. If somewhere were to hit it, all 4 would reset.
So, using Huff n More Puff as an example again, just so I can get my head around it, if I'm on 1c denom and bet $1.50 or you play 2c at $1.50, that wouldn't change the odds of hitting the grand or major?
Correct, odds would be the same for hitting the progressive. There could be a very slight advantage to playing 2c as the overall payback % setting could be higher for that denom.
3:28 first of all, thank you for making this correction video. In this example, you showed the progressive amounts changing when changing denoms on the Huff n Puff game. For this game, are you saying that regardless of the denom and the progressive amounts going with them, the higher you bet, the higher chance of hitting the progressive? In other words, betting high on lower denom vs betting high on higher denom. The only difference is the progressive amount changes. But the chance of hitting them is still the same. I hope this makes sense
The BONUS amounts change with denomination, not the progressives which are the MAJOR and GRAND. For progressives, the higher your overall bet in total the greater the odds. For the bonuses, it’s the same thing, but each denomination has separate bonus amounts.
I went to the casino last night with $20. I played roulette turned it into $70 played slots turned it into $14 went back to roulette turned it into $.50 until I got a winning streak and left with $40 amazing comeback.
Love it when it works out like that!
I love ur content!
Glad you’re enjoying it!
Not exactly related to this topic, but my question is if you had the choice to play a high volatile machine at a class 3 or the same title machine at a class 2 casino, would the class 2 reduce the volatility?
No, the games that come in Class 2 and Class 3 variants are almost always identical in how they play out. Manufacturers have gone to insane lengths to make sure that is the case.
Thank you
❤ the video. Very educational. What is the highest volatility penny machine on the market right now?
Tough to really say for sure. Firecracker game is pretty up there.
You are all the best...
JUST TO CORRECT YOU
Friday is "Hawaiian shirt day" or, as we call it, Aloha Friday. You will see many office workers and news broadcasters wear Aloha shirts to work on Friday, to kinda ease into the weekend. A long-time Hawaiian tradition.
What about for the Minor and Mini?
Here's an example: Lightning Link / Dragon Link you can play 5c denomination, minimum bet 1.25, and the Minor is $250. (actually hit one yesterday)
Don't you have much less of a chance of hitting that $250 minor on a small bet, and if you played say 1 dollar on pennies you have higher chance of getting the $50 Minor?
Those aren't progressives, but rather "bonuses" - they change whenever you change the denomination.
Yes, I agree the bonuses hit easier on higher bets lower denoms.
The average bonus will be the same (close enough) across all bet levels, so you will be more likely to get the "big" prizes on higher bets because they are not as big relative to the bet amount. If min bet is 50¢, then that $250 minor is 500x wager. If max bet is $5, the minor is only 50x wager.
What about the games that the progressive change with the denomination?
I’ve seen slot players like Brian Christopher pumping thousands of $100 spins in machines and never get a six figure progressive. Based on my experience on Caribbean Gold it is possible to win a six figure progressive on $2.50 bet Nickle denom. It’s all about the RNG?
The Dude abides to this Marc
Sa lets take Dragon link as an example a person betting $5 a spin will have 10x better odds of hitting a Grand, Major or Minor than a person betting .50 a spin? How is this achieved? Through an event trigger that then displays a game making up a winning game to include a Major, Minor or Minor balls or just scaling up the base bonus through a better odds table? Please explain or Make a video.
I won a Super Grand Progressive on a $2.50 spin nickel denom. It’s more about being on the right machine at the right time. IMO
You're correct
And nobody can predict the right machine at the right time.
(Unless the casino has set aside special machines for their partnerships with slot channels influencers.) 😊
@@5877user The winning Caribbean Gold Dollar Storm was located at the confluence of a high traffic high visibility area in the casino. Men in suits go to the machine, open it and confirm with the slot manufacturer. I was told the manufacturer paid the win. The value of the other coins on the bonus was $32. Went to Super Grand immediately. No Super Grand Chance. It was 10 pm. Not many people on machines.
I dont think Brian Christopher with his $50 spins has won a six figure payout.
I like the shirt. 😊
When people start talking numbers and odds many see that
Kyra Sedgwick math geometry Meme.
Is it the same for Aristocrat games?
Some of them, yes. The way you can tell is that if you change the denomination on the machine or the credit bet size, if the progressives do not change, then the same rules apply that we talked about in this video.
@@GambleSmart Some progressives you cannot hit unless betting max, depends on the machine.
This guy is an actual cardassian from star trek
As his wife and a Trekkie, I hope not! More like a snarky Vulcan 😂
True, but say at 30 cents its a 1 in 10million chance, at $10 it’s 10 in 10million. Not really much difference! Its ten times higher but still only a slight chance.
It's definitely NOT worth chasing progressives like this. We always try to make that clear. It's a trap :)
Is the progressive the mini minor major etc?
On this game, the progressive is only the MAJOR and GRAND. The MINOR and MINI are "bonuses". The way you can tell is that they are fixed and never grow.
When you say it “increases the odds” I hope people realize the increase in odds of hitting a “Grand” or “Major” is like 100 million to 1 increases to 90 million to 1. The odds are still ridiculous, so it’s not worth increasing your bet.
Yes, I tried to stress this again in this video. Never play for the progressive.
Nice correction. Went to WinStar Tuesday night. What a let down. 4 Huff and more Puff and no Even more puff. Few food options on the Paris side after midnight. Lots of smoke. Drink service sucked. Saw no one getting hand pays. Pretty disappointed especially driving 4+ hours off our route to experience the world’s largest casino. 😂. A joke if you ask me.
I hear ya - we stick to the Rome non smoking area nearly 100% of the time. Winstar also takes 2-3 months to get the newer machines in due to the gaming commission for the tribe. Lots of food options, but we usually aren’t there after midnight lol. If you ever go back, check out non smoking area and the class 2 bingo slots.
Thanks for the heads up.
It seems like the higher the bet the harder it is to hit a bonus
My question is, are there any other games like this?
Thanks for the clearer info on this. Great tip! Love this channel!
Yes! There are many games that act like this. Lock It Link, Dragon Link, Lightning Link are some.
So what I take from this is its better to bet 5 bucks on 1 cent denom than 5 bucks on any other denom if thats all you can afford but if you can bet max on a higher denom it'll increase chances even more.
With the strong disclaimer to NEVER chase the Max and Grands on this game as a money maker strategy..Only play this game for fun with spare throw away money.
It's all about the total bet amount, not which denomination you are on. So, betting 500 credits on $0.01 is the same as betting 50 credits on the $0.10 denom. There is a very, very slight edge to betting 50 credits on the $0.10 denom because the payback % setting is generally higher on higher denominations, but it's not something you'd ever really notice in the short term.
So basically it doesn’t matter? because at $0.50 denom at 100 .50x100 is 50. And $1 denom at 50 is 1x50=50?
Right
Marc, would love to make a good video with you in wendover NV sometime I live 20 min from salt lake airport and could pick you up from there if your interested
well, how about this then, in the place where i'm playing an old lady has won the grand no less than 5 times on lightning link and her husband once, all they ever played was 50 cent bets!
It's always possible to win those progressives on minimum bets! It's just more difficult. :)
@@GambleSmart not for her.... i've been playing within budget of course on dragon link, lightning link, lock it link, huff and more puff and rising fortunes, i've seen well over 300 majors drop on machines next to me or right after i left and 17 grand jackpots, which include TWO on rising fortunes ( 41k and 62K) which on average only drops once a year where i play. made a calculation for the total amount of majors on those machines over the ten years i've been playing... the number is around 15000.... you know because as you know they reset after they drop.. i've NEVER gotten anyone of those, my bet level is from 50 cent up to 2,50 within budget. how is it possible not to get any of those jackpots on those machines for such a long period, is that at all "normal" .... i haven't seen a single youtube gambling channel with no major on it, and there are those with no grand jackpot, but even those are rare... and they happen at all bet levels... especcially with dragon link and lightning link, those majors drop like leaves from a tree in a hurricane, so often, how can you not get one then, can you explain if my bad luck is anywhere near normal? i also lost count of the number of majors which dropped right after i left "my "machine, and about halve of those were within my betting range....can you give me some sort of answer, and or tips on how to get one of those jackpots on those machines?
there is one channel who keeps statistics with a betting range from 2,25 up to 10 bucks on huff and more puff, after 5200 bonusses she's gotten 12 majors and two grand jackpots ,40% of those bonusses delivered between 5x up to 25x her bet, those statistics seem to me to be "normal". Over the ten years on the mentioned machines i must have had well over 20000 bonusses, and still ZERO majors and grand jackpots......
I disagree on playing a higher bet to get a progressive. I played Huff and even more Puff and was pushing $10. And got the Major for $18,000. It just being at the right machine at the right time and the right day.
That’s not what I was saying, you can certainly get the progressive at the minimum bet. Your odds just increase the higher your net. Never play just for the progressive.
You're lucky to even get a bonus on those volatile games. Much less a progressive. I go the casino to get out the house. My fun is playing with friends on simple 3 wheel games and chatting with friends, not the bells and whistles
Very true - tough games to play.
So basically high and puff sucks won't play. It thank you
As far as the "miss wordings", ain't no big thing brah
is this in your basement? The plant and the stuffed animal and zero background sounds were my cue.
Fast tapping seems to hit bonuses more often.
It doesn't - makes no impact on the outcome. It's in the game rules on most games.
You might get RNG numbers that you wouldn’t get pressing differently. But it’s still Random. It drives me crazy when you play after someone in a busy casino and they think you ‘stole’ their outcome. Impossible unless it was a ‘must hit by’ and they left just before it was due to hit.
You know the math, you understand the variance and the odds but you still play slots???
Of course - for entertainment and the possibility of winning and walking away with the win. So many people just put it back in.
I am now so confused. Where did this math formula come from? Is it in the game rules? I didn’t think you were right in the first video and I definitely don’t think you’re right in this one. PLEASE Marc can you clarify with the game developer what they meant by: “The amount wagered times the odds of winning of the grand and major meters, respectively, is equivalent for all available denominations.”. Doesn’t this simply mean the grand and major DO NOT CHANGE over denoms???
The MAJOR and GRAND progressives do not change based on bet size. So, simply put, the higher your overall bet is, the closer you are to those numbers, thus increasing your chances of hitting them. Please don't raise your bet for this reason though - they are still very difficult to get.
You didn’t explain where this weird math formula came from other than from TH-cam comments from your prior video.
