Started my tattoo journey in my mis fifties. I now have many tattoos and love them. You are never too old to do what makes you happy. My tattoos make me happy.
I love the "You're never too old." My mom turned 60 few months ago, and I took her to get a phoenix tattoo she wanted. And I am so glad I did because a few days ago she passed (exactly 2 months after she turned 60) and Im glad she got the tattoo she wanted before then. It made her happy.
Working in Healthcare in the US, I remember one lady in particular who had several smaller tattoos over her body. She was an absolute HOOT! When we were helping the nurse with a 'skin check' on a new resident (was routine to get a record of what bumps/bruises/scars/wounds that needed care/etc a person came in with, so it would be easily noticed if there was anything new), she was bottomless and said "You said you guys liked my tattoos, do you see my little mouse one?"... we said no we did not see a mouse tattoo (I was actually excited, cause I love mice and rats too and had them as pets at the time) . "oh sh*t, my damn (another name for a cat) must have ate it" 🤣😂Her daughter was in the room too and she was so embarrassed, and apologized profusely, but she did not have to. We all had such a big laugh and it made the new resident so happy seeing us laugh. She was one of my all time favourite ladies to care for and she LOVED seeing when we (the Nurse Aides) got new tattoos. She continued to use that joke when new aides cared for her, and it never got old seeing some of the younger Nurse Aides faces turn bright red.
When healthcare workers post about it online, it makes me feel very unsafe. It’s gotten to the point where I feel the need to ask if they post about their career on social media before I see a doctor/nurse/etc.

I didn't disclose names, ages, or description about her appearance (other than several small tattoos which could describe.... 8 ladies I cared for, most had 1 or 2, only 8 had several all over). I didn't even mention the state I was in at that time. I shared an experience I had with RN, another aide, residents and her daughter in the room. We allow family in the room for checks, to make them feel more comfortable and get used to the process. I only shared what we were doing because otherwise it would feel odd having a resident mention tattoos on hips/thighs/bum. I didn't disclose any medical information about resident either nor whether she was at a long term facility, rehab, etc. She also wasn't the first to make similar jokes. The US is a large space and there are A LOT of people. I would bet money somewhere in a completely different state some little old lady has made the exact same joke (I have heard it more than once during my time as a caregiver and at different facilities, I just shared the first time I heard it). When people share too much information, it's unsafe, I did not do that.
I have matching tattoos with my 79 year old Gran which we got last month - no one believed we were going to go through with it! It was such a special experience to share something I love but normally do alone with her and now she's totally hooked - I don't know what I've started! We live in a fairly wee town and I swear she's shown it to every single person and she's constantly sending me photos of it to check how it's doing, it makes me so happy to see her that excited ❤ She's decided that one a year should have her nicely tattooed by the time she's 95 🥰
@@karil6461 Hers actually healed faster than mine, she didn't have any problems at all, I was actually a tiny bit jealous 😆 My gran is in amazing health, she still runs 10 miles a week plus swimming and tai chi so I'd say it's probably that which made the difference
My aunt was in her 80s when she got her first (and likely only) tattoo. It’s a music note with a butterfly, because her whole side of the family’s last name is Harmony. My parents both sort of laughed at her but I think it’s really sweet that she got it done, especially since it was apparently a spur of the moment thing.
I've tattooed a handful of 70+ people and I feel so honored be their artist and listen to their stories and them giggle when they tell about reaction of their friends and family to their tattoos 😊 Their aura is different from younger clients, i think because they're overcoming a taboo thing and finally doing something they wanted for a long time 🤩

For all the people who claim that tattoos will look horrible and regrettable on older skin, these folks look so great... starting to think people just say that because they're afraid of getting old lol the organ donation tattoo is soooooo amazing
I love it when I see older ppl getting tattooed! Seeing how excited about these tattoos is just so wholesome and heartwarming. It's also great to see older ppl support tattooed ppl for their choices and love the art form🫶

In my forty’s a sleeping Fox wit red stripes as a memorial to my foster mom, she was the mother I always wanted. In my ‘50 two left front paw prints of my dogs on my right lower leg, later an under breast tattoo Fleur de L’Is and fine branches, next year on my upper back my angel wings, and I want my pups paw print somewhere. And my husband supports me in it, I had my bellybutton pierced after my 30. My husband laughs and says well I have a rebel, chaotic creative wife but wouldn’t change a thing.
i love seeing older people with tattoos because it just reminds me of my childhood so much. i grew up with my grandparents being the only people i knew had tattoos and my grandad would always use his tattoos to illustrate the bedtime stories he told me. because of them, i grew up thinking tattoos were the most beautiful and unique form of art. and now, every time i get some fresh ink, they are the first i call to show it off, because i know they will love it just as much as me.

This was such a delightful video. I couldn't stop crying, though. My Grammy passed away a few years ago after I had already moved to Germany and couldn't afford to come back to the US to say goodbye one last time. She was the shining light of my life and was the one who encouraged me to go out and follow my dreams and finally leave the US. She was so proud that I put myself through university and that I now do what I love now that I'm teaching at my local university. All of the tattoos I have, I got with her in mind. Every rose, every lilly, every pansie, and my humming bird. So, now every time I look at my tattoos, I'm reminded of her. Just like the sweet granny at the beginning, if there is something that you really want to do, do it. My Grammy would approve 100%. I miss her every day. ❤❤❤
I love this! My husband and I are 48 & 56. He's a tattoo artist and I do removal. I was a nurse for over 20 years before. We don't have nor have ever wanted kids. We have pets. I took care of my Mom & Dad before they passed and now we are taking care of his Mom and helping his Dad out. We've decided that we have no one we have to take care of besides each other after his parents pass and we are going to try almost anything within reason at least once. I believe if you want to get a tattoo or sky dive or what have you, do it!
My great- grandfather was in his late 70s when he got his first tattoo. He was a career US Marine and he served several tours in Vietnam, getting shot down several times. His first tattoo was on his inner arm and was his dog tag information. He got it alongside his buddy from his time in the service. When his buddy died a few years later, my great grandfather traveled to the funeral and stood watch over the service in his dress blues, a promise he and his buddy had made to each other in a foxhole in Vietnam. His story made the local and then national news. I know that tattoo with his buddy meant the world to him even after his buddy passed.

For some reason, this hit me hard. M grandma died two month ago at 97. She more or less raised me because my parents worked a lot and later, as she started developing dementia, my mom and I were the only ones in the family who took care of her. Still, I never had an emotional connection to her. She always seemed superficial and all she did within relationships was transactional, to the point where she had my mom pay her for every single thing she ever did or bought for me as a child. I feel like I've never experienced this level of love and acceptance from anyone and it feels like getting punched in the stomach. I hope these people treasure the relationship they have with their grandparents (or any loved one) and appreciate how lucky they are.
my mum got a tattoo after accompanying me to two tattoo appointments and there being spare time during the second one, at 51, and it inspired my nan, who's in her late 70's, to get a tattoo in honour of her late husband, even though she hates tattoos! it's definitely never too late to get a tattoo.
I got a very large tattoo when I was 23, and so badly wanted more for years, but then had kids, didn't have the money, etc. im 56 now, and finally getting all those tattoos i wanted. It literally makes me feel so happy!!

I’ll be 50 in a few months and still on my tattoo journey, got plans to get 3 done next summer. 🙂 A few years back I was running my craft stall at an event in town, there was an older dude there with his top off and was covered in loads of small to medium sized black line work tattoos. He also had a bunch of piercings, including dermals in some of the tattoos - like along the body of a butterfly or in the centre of a flower. He came over to look at my stall and we had a chat. Turned out he started getting tattoos at 75 when he just got one small one on a whim. Then spent the next 6 or 7 years covering himself in them! Honestly, I thought they looked great 🙂
You know, I don't usually sit through ad reads anywhere, but that felt so much like my friend telling me about cool jewelry that I never even thought to skip ahead lol. Definitely checking out that site now, they have some neat looking stuff!
I remember when my coworker (who was in her late 40s at the time) was contemplating her first tattoo. Her research and discussion at work inspired both myself and another coworker (we were in our late 20s) to get our first tattoos. After she saw ours, she finally got over her fears and got the tattoo... and has gotten a couple others since.

This is so sweet I love it. My great grandmother on my mom's side was our family matriarch. She passed but my mom, sisters and I got fern tattoos in her honor because her middle name was Fern. My sister even incorporated little pewter fern pins for her wedding. It was so beautiful. 🥲

This was so sweet! 49 here and have always loved tattoos, but for some reason, from the ages of 18-39 I only had 7 small ones and now I'm covered! Took me some time to catch up with what I wanted to look like and have gained much more confidence and it is truly fab feeling good about myself!
My grandfather had many tattoos from his time in the army (and one of his dog which I loved) and I always thought that they looked really cool even on his 'elderly' skin, so I’m actually quite excited to see my tattoos age with me ❤
I loooove seeing older people getting tattooed!! They’re all so precious!! My 66 year old mom talks about getting a small tattoo sometimes. Maybe one day when she decides I can treat her to one! ❤
This maybe silly to say but when i was a kid getting into the alternative scene i feel in LOVE with tattoos and piercings. I totally agree with the lady who said it makes you feel complete. It feels so viseral, in a good way. I love seeing what people choose to decorate themselves with.
Here in Missouri, United States, you can donate blood soon after you get a tattoo with the only requirement being that it's a recognized tattoo parlor which always uses good housekeeping and hygiene practices.

My grandparents on my dads side passed away when i was 6 months, and 5years old. My grandparents on my mothers side didnt like tattoos. But i have a memorial tattoo a lily, for my mother who passed 2009 when i was 20yrs and my father passed away last year and his memorial tattoo is his favorite guitar with a white rose and angel wings. I would have loved to have done a tattoo with my father but even he didnt like them. 🙈
My late Nan was also very anti tattooing. I once visited her with marker pen on my hand after work, and she was very upset, thinking I had a tattoo. (That one was just pen…..). It turned out that her grandad had had a tattoo of a butterfly back when the only people who had them were military men, specifically sailors, ….or criminals. She died before I got the rest of the story. I’m almost fifty, for context, so her grandad was going back a while.

Videos like this make me wish I had relationships with my grandparents like this 🥲 my granddads are either dead or dead to my family (ooop!) and my recently passed grandma was a certified tattoo hater (& trumper) and my remaining grandma lives on the other side of the country & doesn’t love tattoos either 😅 I envy & am so happy for people who get to enjoy this relationship. 62 Female here. My first tattoo I was in the Army (17). It was illegal back then! I had a list of tattoos I wanted that were between 20-45 years in the making. I now have a fully detailed, full color arm sleeve, a full color chest piece, both lower legs are now quarter sleeve…one color, the other black and grey. Never too old is 1,000% correct! Another good thing about being a tattooed older person? Less chance of people touching or grabbing to look, not near the negative comments younger folks get, as a matter of fact, people are more positive (in my experience) with older people with tattoos. I have 3 more coming up (125 total presently). 🥹☺️🥰

I’ll be 50 in a few months and still on my tattoo journey, got plans to get 3 done next summer. 🙂
A few years back I was running my craft stall at an event in town, there was an older dude there with his top off and was covered in loads of small to medium sized black line work tattoos. He also had a bunch of piercings, including dermals in some of the tattoos - like along the body of a butterfly or in the centre of a flower. He came over to look at my stall and we had a chat. Turned out he started getting tattoos at 75 when he just got one small one on a whim. Then spent the next 6 or 7 years covering himself in them!
Honestly, I thought they looked great 🙂
You know, I don't usually sit through ad reads anywhere, but that felt so much like my friend telling me about cool jewelry that I never even thought to skip ahead lol. Definitely checking out that site now, they have some neat looking stuff!

I remember when my coworker (who was in her late 40s at the time) was contemplating her first tattoo. Her research and discussion at work inspired both myself and another coworker (we were in our late 20s) to get our first tattoos. After she saw ours, she finally got over her fears and got the tattoo... and has gotten a couple others since.
I love the first video. I saw her on Roly’s channel the other day, and I’m happy to see it again. What a lovely person.

My grandma passed away in 2010 (and her sister the year before) and seeing wholesome older people always makes me miss them 🥺
I'm so here for some wholesome content!! My best friend (a tattoo artist) did my mom and all her sisters first (which were matching) tattoos and that was such a special moment to sit with her while she got it 🥹 all of them are 60s and up. Now they want more lol

This is so sweet I love it. My great grandmother on my mom's side was our family matriarch. She passed but my mom, sisters and I got fern tattoos in her honor because her middle name was Fern. My sister even incorporated little pewter fern pins for her wedding. It was so beautiful. 🥲

This was so sweet! 49 here and have always loved tattoos, but for some reason, from the ages of 18-39 I only had 7 small ones and now I'm covered! Took me some time to catch up with what I wanted to look like and have gained much more confidence and it is truly fab feeling good about myself!
My grandfather had many tattoos from his time in the army (and one of his dog which I loved) and I always thought that they looked really cool even on his 'elderly' skin, so I’m actually quite excited to see my tattoos age with me ❤

This maybe silly to say but when i was a kid getting into the alternative scene i feel in LOVE with tattoos and piercings. I totally agree with the lady who said it makes you feel complete. It feels so viseral, in a good way. I love seeing what people choose to decorate themselves with.

Here in Missouri, United States, you can donate blood soon after you get a tattoo with the only requirement being that it's a recognized tattoo parlor which always uses good housekeeping and hygiene practices.

My grandparents on my dads side passed away when i was 6 months, and 5years old. My grandparents on my mothers side didnt like tattoos.
But i have a memorial tattoo a lily, for my mother who passed 2009 when i was 20yrs and my father passed away last year and his memorial tattoo is his favorite guitar with a white rose and angel wings. I would have loved to have done a tattoo with my father but even he didnt like them. 🙈

my grandpa is in his 60s and this weekend im getting the honor of giving him his first tattoo
i got 2 tattoos a couple of months ago at 60! the bigger one that takes up my whole forearm i've wanted for over 15 years.
My late Nan was also very anti tattooing. I once visited her with marker pen on my hand after work, and she was very upset, thinking I had a tattoo. (That one was just pen…..). It turned out that her grandad had had a tattoo of a butterfly back when the only people who had them were military men, specifically sailors, ….or criminals.
She died before I got the rest of the story. I’m almost fifty, for context, so her grandad was going back a while.

62 Female here. My first tattoo I was in the Army (17). It was illegal back then! I had a list of tattoos I wanted that were between 20-45 years in the making. I now have a fully detailed, full color arm sleeve, a full color chest piece, both lower legs are now quarter sleeve…one color, the other black and grey. Never too old is 1,000% correct!
Another good thing about being a tattooed older person? Less chance of people touching or grabbing to look, not near the negative comments younger folks get, as a matter of fact, people are more positive (in my experience) with older people with tattoos. I have 3 more coming up (125 total presently). 🥹☺️🥰
