      Took out all the ads. TH-cam defaulted to ads during the video. My team changed it to one in the beginning. Thanks for letting us know.

    Now my head is spinning with ideas. Question, do you wash the fabric after the paint has dried, or wait until the whole quilt is made?

    • @QuiltingWithNancy
      @QuiltingWithNancy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wait until the quilt is finished - I always wash my quilts when I am done quilting them, mainly because I have cats and I obviously don't want their hair to be on the quilt when i give it away or put it in storage - Nancy

      @@QuiltingWithNancy I'm so excited to try this! I was watching the video again yesterday and my teenage grandson really got into it. We are planning a fabric paint weekend in August. Thanks for the inspiration AND for packing my order!

    Will other acrylic paints work or must they be the Dylustions paints? This video was very informative and I would like to try this paint process, but I wondered if I could also use acrylic paints I already have in stock. Love your videos. They are always to interesting / inspirational.

      Yes you can use other acrylic paints but not all are created equal. I also like the paints from Jacquard. I love Brenda Foley's comment below - "Try it and see!" - Thanks Brenda! - Nancy

    What if you tried a second clean brayer to roll over the fabric while picking up the paint?

    • @QuiltingWithNancy
      @QuiltingWithNancy  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, but it tends t push the fabric around, not pushing it down :)

    Hello, what fabric do you use please? I am French and do not understand English very well. Sorry for my question.

    • @QuiltingWithNancy
      @QuiltingWithNancy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No problem. You can use a high quality "muslin" which is a basic white fabric here in the States or a PFD which is a fabric that is used by those that hand dye their fabrics. PFD means "Prepared For Dye" so it makes the dye or paints very bright and you get the best prints when using the paints and plates like it do in the video. I hope you are able to find the supplies you need.

    Does the paint come off on the iron when you press? Would I need a pressing cloth?

    • @QuiltingWithNancy
      @QuiltingWithNancy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No and no :) - it's permanent right away and when you are making a quilt you will be pressing so all your bases are covered - Nancy

  • @paulinehulett6415
    @paulinehulett6415 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video Nancy. So inspiring. Does the fabric need ironing to 'set' the paint after it dries? Also do you need to use colour catchers when you wash the quilt?

    • @QuiltingWithNancy
      @QuiltingWithNancy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope and nope :) - I do not heat set the fabrics because when I am working with them in a quilt, they will get pressed plenty, and the truth is the longer the paint sets on the fabric the more permanent it becomes. I have done a test where i painted fabric, constructed a little quilt, quilting and washed it all in about a 3 hour span of time - no issues with bleed or fading. Have fun! - Nancy

    Great video! Really enjoyed it! Can you tell me where to get the product mentioned at 23:11 that you clean your brayer on and then use for appliques? Also, is your brayer a hard rubber one, or more of a foam one? Thanks!

    • @QuiltingWithNancy
      @QuiltingWithNancy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. I just found it on Dick Blick - Evolon. And a soft rubber brayer.
