Because by doing that they get a lot of money. planned obsolescence is a real thing, with controllers we get no hall effect sticks with Sony & Microsoft, with NVIDIA we get lower VRAM, iPhone 15 for example had only 6GB of RAM - which is pathetic.
It is. It provides the best variety and longevity. But for some reason many reviewers and gamers thinking that this is a CONS! Like a small cover and seams is a bigger problem than dying battery, often not replaceable at all even with soldering and tinkering.
@@Splarkszter If you really like this controller, just make sure it has an easily detachable option, and the one you can buy. This is the best scenario for internal battery.

@@Ice_2192 I heard that Microsoft has a long-term contract with Duracell, so this is what's holding them from shoving some 6-8 hours, 2-3 years lasting battery like Sony did. So once it's done, no replaceable batteries for us in Xbox controllers I guess...
This is by far my favorite controller. Ergonomics are so good and I agree it's the best for symmetrical as of now. I can have multiday marathon sessions and never have hand fatigue. Part of this is the shape and the other is the triggers which have ultra light tension which I love. The D pad is one of the best IMO rivaled by the Mobapad Chitu. My only real complaint is the stick resolution is a bit low. When trying to get precise tricky angled long shots in Crosscode it can be a little jumpy. Really hoping for Pro 3 eventually. Also, after heavy heavy use, the right bumper doesn't have a click or travel any more but still functions just fine. Not a real concern because 8bitdo sells the repair parts if I wanted to fix it.
I actually just returned one due to latency. I mostly got it to use with Blue Retro on older consoles since it can do X-input over bluetooth, but the latency was high enough to be noticeable. If they upgrade this with the higher stick resolution and lower latency of the 2C, it could be the best controller on the market for myself and probably many others.
This was my main controller over the year when it came out, and only 2 years later from a detailed review I discovered that it had some slightly-worse-than-average and slightly-less-accurate-than-average wireless latency and sticks resolution. This is how big of a problem it actually is) I mean it's not as good as Apex 4 or Vader 4, and unless you're trying to play a high-level competitive games on $50 casual controller 😁
@@laughingbob5786 of course, wired will have lower latency but not significantly. d input wired is almost the same as d input BT, that is why i always play wireless. buy it now bro
hall effect joystick and mechanical buttons are a must for me , the D-Pad if it can do well in fighting games, it is good . because D-Pads do not require much performance in most games.
I've been using the atomic purple variant for almost a year now, it's my favorite controller ever. It's like a mix between the Dualshock 4 and SNES controller.
I have the xbox one with hall effect. I think for pc that version is bettere because it has much better latency. Time for 8BitDo to release this design with the Ultimate 2C latency. It will be a perfect symmetrical choice. Good review as always. Waiting for other reviews!!
I've got some snes button membranes for my sn30 pro, so happy to see that I can use them on this controller down the line. I'm definitely picking one up.
There's no argument, removable replaceable batteries trump internal ones, this controller should be praised for that, for me its one of the near perfect ones, if it had the polling, software customisability and 2.4ghz connection of the Vader 4 pro, and the bearing based, retention springl-less sticks of the Apex 4. It would be the GOAT controller, full stop.
Thanks for your videos. It's almost the same things I do (I don't disassemble devices) when I get a new device. See the box, observe carefully what comes and analyze the piece!.
My fav gamepad for old games. Recently tried to play ps2 god of war games with vader4pro and after one session bought pro 2 again. Few months ago sold my previous pro 2 because I saw this new model with hall sticks. But then I thought that Vader gonna be just my ultimate gamepad for every game. That was a mistake, I didn't know that turbo can be such an issue for the "pro controller "😁 Oh and enchanted range of sticks on vader4pro is also didn't work correctly in QTE segments of gow. I know it can be changed to usual circle but still it's an issue for some games.
I'd be interested in a quick video of you filing down the inner case of the d-pad to make it more like the SNES d-pad. I really hope 8BitDo does a Pro 3 with low latency and Trigger locks
I won't do that because it can, A not work and the controller will feel like shit, and B because it can be uneven or I can file it too much and it will look like shit hahahah
I would like for trigger deadzones to be tested. I like racing games but my original xbox controller has huge trigger deadzones. At the end of the travel for example there's a lot of space where the input is just 100%
I love this controller, and it is in my collection. But this update is kinda useless in my opinion. This gamepad needs a really big update by current pro standards.
I already had the Ultimate Bluetooth and still picked one of these up once it got Hall effect sticks. It doesn't seem worse than their other controllers to me. It's lacking some features compared to recent GuliKit stuff, though.
I freaking love my classic themed Pro 2, even with ALPS sticks it's still good as new with perfect centering and no drift after all these years. But I absolutely hate mushy inaccurate dpad, lack of anti-friction rings and loud sticky face buttons. Instead of a new colors 8bitdo should really make a new, upgraded model. I absolutely enjoying my new Ultimate 3-mode, a huge upgrade over regular old Ultimate with the same problems as Pro 2.
I'm seeing some comments about bad latency, but I think they're talking about something different from what was in the video. You were talking about stick latency, right? Whereas it sounds like other people are talking wireless bluetooth latency or something. So when playing wired how bad is it really? I pretty much exclusively play wired on PC. I leave a C to A cable plugged in and routed under my desk that I can plug into various controllers and unplug when I'm done playing. No hassle. I've even bought 10ft+ C to A cables for use in the living room.

After playing BoTW and ToTK back to back, my original Pro 2 got drift on the left stick. I wonder if I could buy the hall effect sticks separately and replace them 🤔
Hi, the Bigbigwon Blitz 2 gamepad has recently gone on sale. Please tell me if there will be a review on it? I'm wondering if it's possible to connect it to an Xbox console like it was with Rainbow 2 Pro?
Their Ultimate C2 is way better, hall effect sticks + triggers and has anti friction metal rings for 29$ Linus Tech tips did a review of it, it has the best latency, beats all other controllers even while wired Waiting for your review
I don't like the layout, I really wish that someone would make a high quality controller with the "Wii U pro layout" (both analog sticks on top). I bougth two cheap third party controllers for the Switch that have the Wii U pro layout, one wired and one wireless. Both have the same design and the D-pad is really bad, making it unusable for 2D platforming etc.. but it's fine for games like BotW where the D-pad is is not used for movement. I still use them because there are no other options. I wish Nintendo had kept the Wii U pro controller for the Switch, because I don't like the Playstaion layout nor the Xbox layout.
