it should be implemented more... dynamic then. What's the point of having decaying undead if it's only noticable on leveling. It's like worgen. No one plays in human form and there is no point of switching between them. So for an undead It would be cool if upon character death you "reset" in terms of visuals. @Hirumaredx 2:07 Small correction: The talent point buying system was actually still in the closed beta for the first 2000 beta testers, which invited the fansite operators (of which I was one). When they moved it to a bigger testing group (maybe even open beta, can't quite recall) the talent tree system was introduced. But I worked with that point buy system for some time before it was replaced. Interesting to note was that the devs were in the game with us during that period and we reported bugs directly to them and we showed them how things broke for us. I recall Hunter was also added late in the beta (maybe it even was the last? Again, can't quite recall) so it received less polish then some which might explain how the devs were still struggling with the interface and mechanics of the class. And that's saying something looking at the classes as WoW originally launched. :)
That must have been so cool. I kinda like the old talent system, they should have kept both for more customizability. Like in PvP you could put all points into frost resistance if you had problem with frost mages, but instead be weak against other schools of magic, or have them balanced if you wanted.

Omfg, I've been to that Azshara crater map. There used to be a private server called Mond-WoW, it was a totally custom server. They made a bunch of their own "dungeon maps" by using the ingame map files that had never been completed/used, and the Azshara crater map was one of the ones they populated with mobs and objectives to turn into a dungeon. Amazing to see it again after so many years! I had actually forgotten about it. Oh, the nostalgia :D

@Rose Anne Boushard what does that have to do with my point? Dragons living on floating islands wouldn't be "closer to the lore" because no azeroth dragons live on floating islands lol
As the replies would suggest, even though it is possible that there are some floating hidden islands kinda like the turtle in MoP isn’t impossible, I think a lot of people do not want another brand new twist on something familiar. It would be great to return back to the more familiar “world” of Warcraft, which doesn’t have any history or indication that there are floating islands. Dalaran is an exception and it would kinda cheapen the feel if there are more floating fortresses around in my opinion
none of the dragons could do their jobs better on a flying island than they could in their current arrangements. - The black dragons are related to the Earth, and it's forces. Only makes sense to stick in the largest part of the earth and stay with it. Even when they turned evil. They hid by taking on human guises or burrowing deeper into the earth, even into Deepholm. - The Green dragons are connected to the emerald dream, the forces of nature, and spend much of their time sleeping to connect with the dream. Not only is a flying island unnecessary and possibly counterproductive, it's potentially a risk, as many situations can make waking up from the Dream on-demand impossible which is not desirable if the island starts falling. - The Bronze dragons don't want to draw attention to themselves, normally - true for all flights, but the bronze in particular. That's why their home base is accessible primarily from a hole in the ground on the far side of a desert from anywhere real. - The only group which even dabbles in floating islands is the Blue dragonflight, and even then, they seem to have strict limits. Most Blue Dragon flying platforms are small and thin, used to focus the great confluence of ley lines (which in-lore is counterproductvely causing damage all around - aka it's a bad idea only happening because Malygos isn't thinking straight). Malygos saw the Kirin Tor's magic as dangerous for the world, and thus sought to destroy them for it - doubtless he saw Dalaran as a grave example of hubris. - The red dragons would thus want to be connected to the ground as well, as that's where most life and all of the other flights are. - And lastly, the only other known flying islands - the Halls of Valor, possibly the plane of air's settlements - were generally owned by creatures and groups that resented Dragonkind. Odyn saw the dragons as insufficient for their purpose, the Elementals and dragons have usually been opposing each other as agents of the Old Gods and Titans,
That huge temple on the Dragon Isles is a very early indication of N'Zoth's followers doing shit who could have served as the main antagonists. On an early alpha map it also said that Alexstrasza was supposed to appear here.
The location shown in this video are not the Dragon Isles. It‘s Designer Island, a hidden location only accessible by GMs (teleportation is required). Check it out yourself. This video is so misleading.
I guess something simple they could have done to implement the decaying part of the undead, is by making 6 variations of the skin textures to look more gross and have it change every 10 levels.
I enjoy the stories and content around WoW more than I enjoy WoW. I don’t play WoW anymore, I stopped a little bit into Shadowlands as I didn’t enjoy the leveling and heard the endgame wasn’t better compared to other MMOs, but I still watch your content, its a way to still engage and learn about a world I have loved and grown up with for years without having to play the game
I can imagine if the talent system from beta made it live, people getting kicked from raids because they had the audacity to put points in crafting to make armor. "we can get gear in raids, respec now, or you wont raid with us." or speccing deep into 2H axes but getting a better 2H sword... now you have redo everything and deep into swords... then getting a better 2H mace...
Something you've also missed, when covering 'You, Robot,' I noticed a nod to the movie Robots, with Mama Wheeler. Could be wrong, but that felt familiar, and I wondered if that was a reference as well. They really had a lot of fun with that one, I think.
The Azshara crater bg would have made sense after the burning of Teldrassil, like a desperate push by the night elves to storm into Orgrimmar, but instead we got Darkshore and Arathi warfronts
I don't know if you read these. But if you wanted a video idea -- There's a map in Warcraft 3, it's like uh, some Halloween themed LOL map. Anyways, that map came out prior to WoW's release, and the heroes are basically beta versions of WoW's classes. You can see a lot of WoW's abilities in like their super alpha form, as they made them work for that Wc3 map. I think covering that map and its connection to WoW would be a fun watch. I don't think many people know about it.
Tirisfal Glades is a lot like Elwynn Forest if you think about it. It makes sense to have Tirisfal Glades and Silverpine Forest be made last, as by the time they have made the rest of the Human zones, they are really good at making those zones and using the world building tools. Now they just need to do the same but put a dark spin on it with effects, filters and lighting combined with the music and ambience.
A couple of years ago I registered on a private instant 70 pvp server to do some casual BGs. One of the first Battlegrounds i got thrown into was some weird autumn themed map with a dense forest where you had to fight for supplies against the enemy faction. Only later found out it was Azharas Crater. Never seen it again on another server
In the pre-Cata Azshara zone, it's possible to scale the crater from the outside to see it on the world map. It's just a bunch of trees, none of the objects from the battleground map.
I managed to get myself into Azshara’s crater in the TBC expansion. I didnt quite understand at the time where I was and thought that I had gotten into some weird part of Azshara.
Haven’t seriously played since WotLK, but I remember spending an hour around the coast of one of continents and found an old area with a lighthouse that wasn’t used anymore. Thought it was the coolest thing back then
I feel like azhara crater would work so well in season of discovery... would be such a fun way to add new pvp content that is still in the spirit of vanilla!
What’s the music once we get to battleground scrap content??? The music made it really different, I miss Wow, I miss Hayven, I miss having fun as a whole, but thx to your channel and many other talented contend creator it’s less painful ❤️
Sadly the series was rather unpopular, and our artist got a new job and so we have not been able to continue. Although we are thinking of bringing the series back, but its extremely unlikely.
Hiru, since its leak season, can you do list about all the leaks from vanilla to Shadowlands? And see what did get into the game and what didn't. That would ne cool.
Most of the original scrapped stuff and unfinished area were known by many of us in 2005. We wall walked and glitched into so many places back then. I guess it's unknown if you didn't know, but this isn't anything new.
I am doubting the validity of the "single zone having more quests than all of EQ"... for sure, there were plenty more quests in WoW than in EQ but by PoP-era (roughly the time WoW released) there had to be atleast over a thousand quests on EQ. No zone in WoW has a thousand quests. The Project 1999 wiki lists 805 entries for Quests across the first three expansions. Recommend revising that statement based on this. Edit: Do still love your content, if you want more context on why I disagree with the statement, shoot me a msg :)
Gosh, back when they not only knew what they wanted, made a game for the player, and cared about the unique player experience. Probably never again. Thats a premium game.
Video idea: History of Kills Taken Away by Blizzard, for example, the infamous Lich King Saronite Bomb incident, or that raid group that deleted the floor in AQ to get to C'Thun
You could say that Classic zones weren't cut but rather put in a freezer, which makes the Dragon isles very interesting since it is likely to be the main continent of 10.0 (Empire of Dragon or something), making it the zone that was in the freezer for almost 2 decades. Now I just hope that EOD will have at least an enjoyable Main baddy who is a better character than sir Nipples (but then again that bar is extremely low).
One small autocorrect is Black Dragon’s were corrupted by the old gods to become evil, and many forced to serve the flight, even if they didn’t want to.
i remember seeing those battlegrounds on modding forums, and maybe even some custom content WotLK private servers had them (although i'm not sure about that)
i remeber when the private server lightbringer northdale ended they took all the players online and ported us to all the unfinished areas like emerald dream, outlands, hyjal ,and this place was really cool way to end the server

That would work if everyone looked the same, with all the options to choose it would be a lot of stages and variations
I love Hayven's presentation, RIP. Thanks for these continued wow videos Hiru
RIP Hayven Games :(
I feel so happy when you uplade these kind of videos, i fkn love lit
I smile whenever Hayven's videos are mentioned. The guy did so many awesome "behind the code" videos. He is extremely missed.
I think someone watched your video and made the 10.0 leak XD
I enjoy the stories and content around WoW more than I enjoy WoW. I don’t play WoW anymore, I stopped a little bit into Shadowlands as I didn’t enjoy the leveling and heard the endgame wasn’t better compared to other MMOs, but I still watch your content, its a way to still engage and learn about a world I have loved and grown up with for years without having to play the game
R.I.P Hayven
Even just mentioning Hayven Games has me in tears :(
Well this aged like a fine wine.
undead starting zone is still the best of the original starting zones
Wrathion was searching for the Dragon Isles in BFA. It was mentioned by his bodyguard in the quest chain. :)
I can't be the only one that see some similarities with Warcraft heroes BG and isle of conquest?
A couple of years ago I registered on a private instant 70 pvp server to do some casual BGs. One of the first Battlegrounds i got thrown into was some weird autumn themed map with a dense forest where you had to fight for supplies against the enemy faction. Only later found out it was Azharas Crater. Never seen it again on another server
Ghhez, Missed opportunities. Thanks big bizz blizz.
In the pre-Cata Azshara zone, it's possible to scale the crater from the outside to see it on the world map. It's just a bunch of trees, none of the objects from the battleground map.
How do you always manage to make amazing and unique content on WoW
I guess that is because there are many things about WoW.
7:51 oh why you had to remind me of Hayven ? 😭😭😭😭
I managed to get myself into Azshara’s crater in the TBC expansion. I didnt quite understand at the time where I was and thought that I had gotten into some weird part of Azshara.
@7:24 I'd love to know what this music is. It sounds so familiar and touches my soul.
The undead thing could be an amazing new starting zone if Blizzard does decide to do another revamp, even if revamps were done in smaller patches
RIP Hayven Games
So many great memories of Azshara's Crater on Private Servers.
The Dragon Isles is finally gonna be in the game!
That undead feature would legit be an immersive win and they could definitely do it now.
Man...Seeing Hayven games brought back some memories. I miss that dude.
Love the music in this. Anyone have links or titles?
The piano music around the 1:30 mark is Lama House - Himitsu
@@CTGaming306 Thank you!
Man the MOBA maps look so good. What a missed opportunity.
8:00 Hayven , a legend
Haven’t seriously played since WotLK, but I remember spending an hour around the coast of one of continents and found an old area with a lighthouse that wasn’t used anymore. Thought it was the coolest thing back then
Love videos like this
I feel like azhara crater would work so well in season of discovery... would be such a fun way to add new pvp content that is still in the spirit of vanilla!
Very nice video, love your content.
Soo, these dragon isles eh?
So sad how much content they cut and never consider again. It would be so easy for them to resurrect much of it..
RIP Hayven, miss your content buddy :(
What’s the music once we get to battleground scrap content??? The music made it really different, I miss Wow, I miss Hayven, I miss having fun as a whole, but thx to your channel and many other talented contend creator it’s less painful ❤️
I WOULD LOVE A WOW MOBA I HAVE WANTED THIS FOR SO LONG
I haven’t played for a year now but still watching all new wow news I don’t know why
Still waiting for a new episode of Villains Corner :(
Sadly the series was rather unpopular, and our artist got a new job and so we have not been able to continue.
Although we are thinking of bringing the series back, but its extremely unlikely.
@@hirumaredx damn, probably the most interesting one, such a shame
Hayven o7 rest easy friend.
One of the pictures you showed made me think of all of the bad guys in wow fighting each other and I really want to know who would win.
Hiru, since its leak season, can you do list about all the leaks from vanilla to Shadowlands? And see what did get into the game and what didn't. That would ne cool.
Dragon Isles made a lot more sense than shadowlands xD
Most of the original scrapped stuff and unfinished area were known by many of us in 2005. We wall walked and glitched into so many places back then. I guess it's unknown if you didn't know, but this isn't anything new.
Video idea. Class balance history. Either 1 video for each class or just a generic one with all in one.
RIP Hayven
Gosh, back when they not only knew what they wanted, made a game for the player, and cared about the unique player experience.
Probably never again. Thats a premium game.
Video idea: History of Kills Taken Away by Blizzard, for example, the infamous Lich King Saronite Bomb incident, or that raid group that deleted the floor in AQ to get to C'Thun
While nice im pretty sure those are like the ONLY two.
They somehow did manage to make a bad villain
One small autocorrect is Black Dragon’s were corrupted by the old gods to become evil, and many forced to serve the flight, even if they didn’t want to.
i remember seeing those battlegrounds on modding forums, and maybe even some custom content WotLK private servers had them (although i'm not sure about that)
11 minutes 56 seconds... this video adds more content then wow since launch of BFA.
love your work!
Good video.
What piano music was used for the background music?
Ah , Hayven content, you are so missed friend.
i remeber when the private server lightbringer northdale ended they took all the players online and ported us to all the unfinished areas like emerald dream, outlands, hyjal ,and this place was really cool way to end the server
Hell yeah I love this series.
