That HDR demo for peak brightness compared to ASUS painted such an awesome real world example of HDR performance differences beyond a chart. Awesome vid man!
Love the honesty, earned a subscriber. I see so many reviewers struggle to say anything negative about a product they were sent, which is obviously a red flag. Glad that wasn't the case here.
good to know. this monitor definitely caught my eye with the dual mode, but ig ill just wait for more iterations of this feature. not in a rush or budget to get an oled atm. although i do want one. only oled i have is my phone which i cant even tell most of the time. i pulled up an oled test on yt on my phone and it honestly surprised me
Perfect monitor: 27 4K 240hz, duel mode with 1440p 360hz. I know the math doesn’t work out from 4K->1440p. But maybe when higher res than 4k becomes normal
I hope dual mode monitors are the future! Running games at lower resolution is better in so many ways, but productivity requires as high a PPI as possible
Very thorough review. I appreciate you going into depth of the pros and cons of this monitor. Curious to see the Asus version of this dual mode monitor and what they change (if anything)
Thank you for being the only yter to highlight the worse quality at 1080p compared to other 1080p monitors. I hope they fix it because I want to use this monitor.
Wow. I actually went through that entire "And" section and was able to check off all of those boxes. Great breakdown of a very specific use-case for this monitor that just so happens to fit me!
yea it fit my use case as well and i purchased it. I work from home full time and i use the 4k 240hz for work and video content. i dont game on HDR games so HDR is only use if i wanna watch HDR youtube videos. Night time, i am a sweaty cs2 player. the 480hz fhd is really good. Yes FHD on desktop looks ugly but when in game in cs2, FHD looks really fine, no issues at all. I know some will say 32 inch is too big for competitive, but to me me, after a few hours, it does look ok and my eyes are accustomed. All i need to do was the centralise my Radar HUD to make it more centralise and 32inch or 24 inch does not matter since the radar is near central in my peripheral view, thats all that matters. The 480hz is really darn smooth. i just had to higher anti aliasing video settings and FHD cs2 looks sharp as well. no issues with any blur image. The only ugly mess is when u are in desktop. So for me, whenever i am in desktop, i flick back the switch to 4k, once i am going in the game, i flick it to 480hz FHD. Serves my purpose very very well! Loving it. I do own other QD oled monitors from Alienware before, namely the AW3423DWF ( used for a year) , changed to AW2725DF (360hz qd oled) but find 27 inch too small for productivity work. Changed to AW3225QF but my fps in cs2 takes a hit that i didnt like it. Now to the LG 32GS95ue and it really serve me well for game and for 4k work. :) The only downside is, if it was glossy, it will be way better. But i do like the easy maintenance of Matte. i can easily wipe away smudges. This monitor was like made for people like me who...play more on esports games yet still wanna use a single monitor for productivity work. If one is a AAA game player instead of esports, then you will be better off using the Alienware AW3225QF or the other QD oled 4k 240hz variants like MSI or Gigabyte since QD oled has a slight advantage in terms of color vibrance. Do note we can also higher the nvidia vibrance to make the matte 32GS95UE to have that same punchy colors of a QD oled.
As someone who owns this monitor I love it and it meets all of my needs perfectly. I only use it in 4K 240 and have only tried the 1080p480 to give it a shot. The 240hz OLED is still a HUGE leap from 144hz IPS MPRT. It should be noted that im a productivity/power user first and content consumption is a second. All my setup have at least 3 panels with one in vertical. Eventually this will be in a setup flanks by a pair of LG DualUp's which for creation are just about perfect. Currently its flanked by two PG278Q's which it just puts to shame. I really need to look further into the calibration stuff. If you could pass any info you have on that would be appreciated.
The 360Hz FO27Q3 has the same fuzzy image issue as this LG 32GS95UE, and it's limited to 240hz with VRR in the 24'' mode. The ASUS PG27AQN 360Hz IPS doesn't have that fuzzy image issue since it runs at 2368x1332 instead of 1080p, but that mode has serious reliability issues. A lot of games like Fortnite, Apex, and Valorant don't work in that mode. Basically, this entire dual mode thing is a mess.
I own the ASUS PG27AQN 360Hz IPS and it is a certified banger especially for shooters. Now the wait for the 480hz OLEDs to drop which I've been holding out for!
At 9:28 the monitor that he's talking about is probably the Asus XG27AQDMG which has been announced by Asus publicly recently. I suppose that at the time of filming the video it was still under NDA.
Been waiting for this review thank you BadSeed! Think I'll still hold strong for the 480hz OLEDs @ 27 inches coming late end of this year they seem to be end game for me ... For now! Also we need more monitors coming with stands that don't take up half your desk space for us few who don't use monitor arms (will eventually)
From my experience any time you have a panel made for 4k and run lower resolutions on them it always looks worse than a panel intended for that resolution. Like i bet if you run the monitor in 4k but then in game set it to 1080 youll probably get the same results. Great video as usual though and that face smash at 3:25 is gonna be my new wallpaper 😂😂 keep up the great work brother!
I say you're crazy. The matte effects of every matte display I've ever seen are very obvious. Whenever you look at anything of a single sold color it looks like you have film grain on, and even without that effect it makes it look like your image is a piece of paper rather than look through a window. I remember when went to a training program for work I brought a $1500 gaming laptop with a matte display, and then realized the ones they supplied there had glossy displays. Even though mine was higher frame rate, brighter, and higher res, it just looked less clear to the eye than the displays on the cheap laptops. Really wish I had the choice more often. Even my brother's first question after I built his computer was "why does the screen look dirty?" Even him with a bad eye could immediately tell the difference.
I wonder if different people focus on displays differently. For me I slightly prefer glossy displays because they make the display feel like it has a bit more depth and "3d-ness" on top of the contrast and clarity benefits. That said I tried out this monitor for a couple weeks and the semi-matte coating wasn't too bad versus other ones, the monitor weirdly looked more glossy when looking at it from a side angle
This was an information rich, well put together review. Excellent! My only feedback is that when you talk about text clarity please include the scaling factor you have the OS set to. Its an important variable to consider: No fringing at 100% is very impressive, no fringing at 300% is not impressive at all.
Great video! Been loving all the monitor reviews. Really waiting till asus coming out with there woled later in the year before making my 4k 240hz purchase. Also with VRR flickering have you seen the new youtube video "VRR Flicker On OLEDs Is A Real Problem" I would love your opinion on this because this type of VRR flickering seems way more common then just the VRR flicker test. I think monitor manufactures are cheating the test but I could be wrong.
I see Amazon has it available for an early June release. I am probably going to wait for the ASUS version. Or, maybe the Dough with the gorilla glass. Thanks for the video. I just want dual version because I am a variety gamer.
Your conclusion is entirely valid with all the caveats, but I see it a little more simply. For me at least, this the perfect "best of both worlds" monitor where it's entirely valid as a competitive FPS monitor, and a HUGE step above any monitors focused solely on competitive FPS in content consumption, which I feel tends to be glossed over in reviews outside of HDR segments in video games. This is perfect monitor for someone who plays competitive FPS (and can push the frames) and wants something with better colors than a TN/IPS panel at a larger screen size and higher resolutions for when they're consuming video content. Especially if they would find it inconvenient or can't afford, either 2 high end monitors that are more purpose built, or deditcated gaming/productivity/home theater setups.
Love the comparison between the asus and lg. however I would’ve appreciated it more if the cycle you did with the LG at different brightnesses then cycled in the asus looking at the same scene to show the difference. I could see the difference in what you were showing but only after rewinding a bunch because the scenes didn’t match up. M
Since I haven't seen anyone ask, how does the size simulation compare to the PG32UCDM's aspect control? Is one more clearer than the other? Are they even worth it?
i assume you know this already but it wasn't mentioned, you can make a custom resolution on nvidia control panel and set it to 360hz if you want to use just 360hz!
I got it because I figure it’s the best OLED at the moment, even though it’s over priced. 4k 480 hz will be what I go to next, but that’s probably 2 GPU/CPU upgrades away anyway so I got time. Until then I think this monitor will still not be my bottleneck. That 480 hz 1080p mode with games that can push 300+ fps it is on another level.
I bought the LG and used it for about a month and did a comparison with my Alienware AW3423DWF for HDR content and that disappointed me and decided to return it. Other features like the 480Hz mode, pixel sound was great but real bummer the HDR performance was not good.
@IdeoDLaw From doing a side by side with my Alienware, it was really lackluster. The highlights were not bright. The picture just doesn't pop like how it does on my ultrawide. That's my experience with it, but definitely check a store and look at it yourself in person if you can.
@IdeoDLaw LG would be good. Eventually, I hope that when they push out firmware to fix the issues. The QD OLED blacks are unless you play in a bright room. I don't mind it as my room is lightning is controlled.
Competitive high elo player here. Owned this monitor for over a month now. You think I'm going back to 24 inch TN? 🤣🤣 I'm keeping this monitor. Thanks for the concern though
Your videos are just awesome, nicely information dense, and talks about the pro's and con's of every spec. I did have one question about the whole emulation modes on all the current monitors that support it. It seems these companies are somewhat brainless, or they just will not bite a certain bullet.. But if we don't personally care about how much of a resize occurs to the display image. Can't we run the native output resolution (and not use the nonsensical pixel scaling values they thought made sense for 27 and 24 inches), but instead simply go into Nvidia Control panel, set display scaling device to GPU (instead of the display), and then in the resolution option disable Scaling entirely. When I do this on current monitors, if I lower my resolution, my monitor uses only the pixels natively 1:1. Sure I get a smaller display viewing (with 4 sided black borders obviously), but it gets rid of having to care about integer scaling at all (as long as the resolution output is less than the native of my display).
I notice a PWM flicker at 5:13 and it's even more pronounced at 480 Hz. has this been an issue using the monitor? because this can cause a lot of eyestrain.
I was really excited for this monitor but at that price point with so many small sacrifices it’s hard to eat that $1,400 and that’s coming from a guy who uses a 7900xtx.
@@Mace1094 magic. It can do anything. It only had issues with hell divers 2 but that was a divers issue. Other than that. 4K 120 on my tv. Or 1080p 360hz asus ips. And 5800X 3D and 7900xtx can do that for most games.
I’m testing this monitor right now. The 480hz doesn’t work on some games I’ve tried. I wish I could switch to 27” inch mode without dropping all the way to 1080p. It can’t beat my 300fps 1440p monitor at 27inches. The text clarity seems fine though.
why they didn't just scaled it properly? Can You maybe do custom resolution for this 24.5 inch mode and check if there is any resolution that will look sharper with 480hz in 24.5 mode? You can use CRU ot just driver panel.
If my monitor suddenly died and had to replace it today, this would probably be it. But there are a lot of tradeoffs for new tech, so yea looking forward to more monitors implementing this.
The PG32UCDM had the same HDR 600 capping issue as this monitor did. I think it’s an EDID issue that needs to be fixed with a firmware update. Other than that, I’ve loved my time with the 32GS95UE.
@@andrewmorris3479 Yes, that’s why I referred to it in the present tense. I think it was fixed a month after the monitor’s release. And it’s gotten 3 more updates since then.
Man I hope so. If they’re able to further optimize their pixel scaling algo and correct their HDR curves, this would be the one for quite some time. I have a feeling this panel can be pushed harder, but they’re playing it really safe to avoid potential burn in. Firmware feels rushed fr
Got my PG27AQDM at release so a few months under a year and I’m now having some screen issues. Light black bar down the middle of the screen, a few pink pixels, a white haze in the middle of the screen. None of it really noticeable in gaming but when I have a darker screen or scene while gaming especially grey then it’s very obvious. Also some random black screens as well. Was hyped for the asus 480 oled but after this probably just going to wait for 480 27in Non-oled.
for certain gaming 1080p at 32" might not be that bad, I played race sims on an 42" 1080p tv not so long ago without any issues with the tv being pretty close to my head(just behind and slightly over the ffb wheel). A friend had 27" 1080p monitor and it looked horrendous in many games, desktop is not even worth mentioning it, so pixelated. 24/25" 1080 in some games is too a bit low, for instance in warzone2 it is noticeable between an 27" 1440p and my 1080p 25" acer nitro v2, so 1080p at 32" would not be doable for me. But I am waiting for the 480hz oleds to arrive. Hat two 240hz 1440p woleds and it was too restrictive with 240hz in pretty much all fps games I play. But how was the dirty gray issues? my two woleds were so bad I could not use them as a computer monitor when windows dark mode was on.
Just got a new LG monitor. The joystick is loose 😩 it’s not the end of the world but they are clearly not checking quality of some of these monitors due to demand. Its not going to break off or anything but it’s just annoying
Are you sure games don't benefit from a higher refresh rate monitor despite being a lower frame rate? I mean the panel is spending less time on the frame and should be able to clear it faster?
No, Im not *sure*. Its an argument thats been going around in high-refresh circles. But based on my understanding of sample and hold, I personally feel like there IS a benefit bc each frame is spending less time on screen - even if the occasional frame has to be doubled. I actually said that in the Zowie video and people went nuts in the comments lil Its also why motion blur using strobing becomes less necessary at higher refresh. Like you can easily tell in a screenshot if its enabled or not, but when those frames are coming at me at like 400-500 per second, I cant even tell if dyac is on or not.
@badseedtech Cool. If it is possible I think it would be useful if you make a video investigating this or at least comment on it further. AS with OLED displays I *think* I want to see BFI for smoother video, but If higher refresh rates can achieve the same effect or at least something comparible, it doesn't matter too much. I think this is important as we are seeing some BFI monitors but they half the refresh rate compared to it not on, so would be useful to know if BFI>Higher refresh rate or not.
My Cousin works for LG, she she told me that the PG32UCDM isnt from Samasung well in a sense it is. But its a LG monitor. Samsung made a deal with LG to buy all its lastest LG QD-Oleds, which is the reason you dont see LG qd-oleds
@@andrewmorris3479 Apprently not, simple search of Google , Verge showed Samsung caved and bought 600k qd-oled from LG in the fall and have a order to buy 10 million screens from 32 inch to 98 inch 4 and 8k.......Samsung admits defeat and reportedly inks deal for LG’s OLED TV panels | LG Display will reportedly supply more than 10 million OLED panels to Samsung over the next few years. A top end monitor paired with a top end gpu.... 1080p is quite redundant and a switch for 4k/1440p is preferable imo even if max fps suffers compared to 1080. but then again the scaling is not ideal going from 4k to 2k so theres that to contend with
Hi, maybe you can help with a maybe common problem but i cant find a solution. Maybe you can do a quick video on it or write me back if its a simple fix. So while streaming netflix, hbo etc my second monitor goes black but i dont want it too, i want to play a game on one while streaming a film or series on the other. lmao I was not expecting the literal face pressed to the screen example
3:25 Dawg 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
At this point I believe in "soon" real endgame: 27" 4K Woled Glossy 480hz
@RobinLemos10 ...we hope ....i'm waiting a 27" 4k 360hz xD maybe with 5090 it will be possible
I keep my 42" 120hz 4k C2 OLED TV, but if it ever breaks down, this monitor is very likely to be my next one.
i assume you know this already but it wasn't mentioned, you can make a custom resolution on nvidia control panel and set it to 360hz if you want to use just 360hz!
I have the Alienware 32 QD-oled 4k 240hz etc, is it worth trading for this??
major benefit to backlight strobing = lower fps = better clarity, only downside adaptiove sync, but nvidia pulsar should fix that.
That bad hdr?
@IdeoDLaw From doing a side by side with my Alienware, it was really lackluster. The highlights were not bright. The picture just doesn't pop like how it does on my ultrawide. That's my experience with it, but definitely check a store and look at it yourself in person if you can.
@@Axariful9 thx mate, mhh too bad i realy wanted the oled 3d pop but these qd oled seem to have bad blacks but woled has no hdr 😂
Do you find it gets really hot against your face though? I found that to be the biggest deal breaker 💀
@@badseedtech I'm been playing the last 3 hours 600fps OW2 and the screen isn't even warm to the touch. Maybe let LG know and RMA for a second sample
There's only comma's in this man's life.
I am totally going to save up for this bad boy! :D
That shot has me crying oh my god
great review as always
I want it, but I definitely don't need it. My 4070 Ti will throw a fit.
4070 Ti can handle 4K just fine.
I notice a PWM flicker at 5:13 and it's even more pronounced at 480 Hz. has this been an issue using the monitor? because this can cause a lot of eyestrain.
Damn, how many takes to get this right because you called out each model number on point. 😅
I was really excited for this monitor but at that price point with so many small sacrifices it’s hard to eat that $1,400 and that’s coming from a guy who uses a 7900xtx.
How’s the 7900xtx been running for you? Any issues?
@@Mace1094 magic. It can do anything. It only had issues with hell divers 2 but that was a divers issue. Other than that. 4K 120 on my tv. Or 1080p 360hz asus ips. And 5800X 3D and 7900xtx can do that for most games.
@@puertadlm163 awesome! Was thinking about upgrading my AM4 build with a 5800X3D and the 7900XTX.
My 4090 is better
@@yoblap average 4090 user.
so, do you think its a hardware issue or a software issue that could be fixed with a firmware update? the pixel density thing?
Is this seriously the only 1080p oled monitor in the market? What about mini leds, will they also have 1080p options?
so if I already enjoy lg displays and don't play much HDR then this is a good display?
I’m testing this monitor right now. The 480hz doesn’t work on some games I’ve tried. I wish I could switch to 27” inch mode without dropping all the way to 1080p. It can’t beat my 300fps 1440p monitor at 27inches. The text clarity seems fine though.
why they didn't just scaled it properly? Can You maybe do custom resolution for this 24.5 inch mode and check if there is any resolution that will look sharper with 480hz in 24.5 mode? You can use CRU ot just driver panel.
the glossy woled thats coming soon you mentioned, could you atleast tell what inch it is? 27? 32?
It’s a 27 inch from ASUS
@@Captain-Chats xg27aqdmg one ?
@@dysnXO yes
Are there any 27” WOLEDs released with the better pixel layout ?
When will the Glossy WOLED be announced? roughly?
Native 1440p resolution on 4k 32 inch montior would be 21.4 inches; would you play at this scale/size?
If my monitor suddenly died and had to replace it today, this would probably be it. But there are a lot of tradeoffs for new tech, so yea looking forward to more monitors implementing this.
The PG32UCDM had the same HDR 600 capping issue as this monitor did. I think it’s an EDID issue that needs to be fixed with a firmware update. Other than that, I’ve loved my time with the 32GS95UE.
It was fixed with firmware MCM103.
@@andrewmorris3479 Yes, that’s why I referred to it in the present tense. I think it was fixed a month after the monitor’s release. And it’s gotten 3 more updates since then.
have you tried setting a custom refresh rate in the nvidia control panel for your 360hz game ? ?
Little question, can you play 24" mode at 1440p if your reduce the refresh rate to 240hz?
Is that the Asus PG32UDCP? The “glossy” screen WOLED dual mode 4k 240Hz/1080p 480Hz.
I wonder if LG could do a firmware update to improve the picture quality of the 24" and 27" modes.
Good video bro thanks
for certain gaming 1080p at 32" might not be that bad, I played race sims on an 42" 1080p tv not so long ago without any issues with the tv being pretty close to my head(just behind and slightly over the ffb wheel).
I spy with my little eye the BOOG75 - review when? :o
What's that banger track at the end?
Best shot on YT history 3:25
Just got a new LG monitor. The joystick is loose 😩 it’s not the end of the world but they are clearly not checking quality of some of these monitors due to demand.
Its not going to break off or anything but it’s just annoying
3:25 as someone who glues my face to the screen I feel offended
So this is the only model to go for out of the 4k OLEDs if I sit next to the window?
Are you sure games don't benefit from a higher refresh rate monitor despite being a lower frame rate? I mean the panel is spending less time on the frame and should be able to clear it faster?
No, Im not *sure*. Its an argument thats been going around in high-refresh circles. But based on my understanding of sample and hold, I personally feel like there IS a benefit bc each frame is spending less time on screen - even if the occasional frame has to be doubled. I actually said that in the Zowie video and people went nuts in the comments lil
Its also why motion blur using strobing becomes less necessary at higher refresh.
Oh damn, thats really interesting
Your cousin is misinformed. The ASUS PG32UCDM uses a 3rd Generation QD-OLED panel from Samsung Display that started mass production in December 2023.
Just because they brand Samsung name to it doesnt mean it was made by them...lol
I also mailed Asus asking week ago and they confirmed the 32 qd-oled is from LG

A top end monitor paired with a top end gpu.... 1080p is quite redundant and a switch for 4k/1440p is preferable imo even if max fps suffers compared to 1080. but then again the scaling is not ideal going from 4k to 2k so theres that to contend with
Could I run this monitor at 1440p 240hz?
Hi, maybe you can help with a maybe common problem but i cant find a solution. Maybe you can do a quick video on it or write me back if its a simple fix. So while streaming netflix, hbo etc my second monitor goes black but i dont want it too, i want to play a game on one while streaming a film or series on the other. TH-cam works fine so i dont know why netflix, HBO and Disney shut off my 2nd monitor while streaming it, it doesnt matter if i watch them on the browser or in their respected apps. Any help is greatly apreciated.
use nvcleanstall and turn off hdcp
I love the little poke towards "pro gamers" gluing their face to the screen, comedy gold!
Is it possible to run 1728x1080 at 480hz on this monitor?

Is it using DisplayPort 2.1? Or still using DSC?
Maybe watch before commenting? Or like, google the specs?
Can anyone tell me if 1440p looks weird on this monitor? Doesnt matter if 32 or 27 inches.
