Growing up I always thought that there was a 5th trainer star in Gen 3 for beating every single trainer in the game. I played that game so much, and I honestly believed that the last trainer was behind the door that required an E-Reader to get behind... Turns out there was only ever 4. But I can say that probably 99% of the game was explored because of it hahaha

Good stuff!! All the hoops you have to jump through in order to complete the national dex in gen 3 is honestly one of the reasons it's my favorite gen. Having to get 3 generations-worth of Pokemon from scratch across all these games is such a trick, interesting experience where you really have to go out of your way sometimes for certain Pokemon. Also kudos to you for beating Dodrio Berry Picking by yourself - have never managed to beat it myself! Best of luck if you go for those stickers someday!!! I might get the final tier egg one someday while shiny hunting for one of the Pokemon that can only be obtained shiny through eggs in gen 3!
Actually u may need to do more I wanted at least 1200 hours on leafgreen and fire red I got three stars and got stickers on trainer card didnt get national dex bc that's to much did it on both games so I spent about 600 hours each on these dam games which it was worth bc now I can flex hella hard at school lol

It wasnt until June 9 of 2018 that I actually went back and got my brother and dad to help me get that 4th star playing those dumb minigames. Some day I will collect the stickers as well. I also completed the pokedex without XD or Colosseum. So, either you can get all the pokemon without them, or I traded with kids that had XD or Colosseum. I did do a lot of trading as a kid, so it is possible. EDIT: The total playtime was over 376 hours for those that are curious. EDIT 2: The Dodrio Berry Picking is exceedingly hard. The games easily get de-synced and you have to rely on the skills of 2 others in order to succeed. Between the 3 of you, you cannot miss 10 berries, otherwise you have to start over. The worst part is the heads of the dodrio dont move quickly if you miss a berry and the berries on the outsides are shared with the other players. So, if you go for a berry another player got first, then you could "stall out" and miss another berry. It takes over 5+ minutes of one run of the game in order to get enough berries on one game. It took me several days of trying to get both minigames, but the dodrio game is the worst. EDIT 3: Surskit is obtainable in Emerald. It is on bulbapedia.

Very good and informative video overall. However, as someone who has done this in both FR and LG (which I'll explain), I need to point something out. As a disclaimer, I apologize if someone else has already said this. You say that you need 2000 points in each game to get the final star, but it's actually that you need 200 jumps in Pokémon Jump and 200 berries picked in Dodrio Berry Picking. The two may appear synonymous, since a standard jump is worth 10 points and a blue berry is worth 10 points. However, these do not account for synchronized jumps (when two or more players jump at the same time) or for the higher value berries/fallen ones. I know Bulbapedia inaccurately lists the 2000 points requirement on its page for Dodrio Berry Picking (even though it correctly says 200 berries on the Trainer Card page), and other websites repeat this error. The fact that there's very little footage of these games on TH-cam doesn't improve the situation. From my personal experience, I know I got at least 2000 points in Jump long before I got 200 jumps. I also had 2000 points in Dodrio Berry Picking before getting 200 berries, and having 2000 points wasn't enough to get the Gold Card. The raw numbers matter more -- my record for points in Jump is in the 8000s, but I 'only' had 197 or so jumps that time. When I finally topped 200, I had less than 5000 points. Again, a really good video, and very patiently explained. I was able to do all of this for a couple of reasons. Among others, I (along with my brother and sister) got all the Gen 3 games in their heyday back when they were readily available. It was finally in 2016 (long after completing the National Pokédex in both games) when we tackled the mini games (we have two SPs, the GameBoy Player, and three wireless adapters that did the job). All three of us did Dodrio Berry Picking (using FR, LG, and E), and then I used the two SPs to do Pokémon Jump. Be warned: if you're using the GameBoy Player for either game, remember that it's slightly slower than a GBA. You'll want to look at another player's GBA screen if you're using the GBP.

You need to complete Firered or Leafgreen, and Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald to 100%. That means, the entirety of the pokedex filled, not a Pokemon missed, 4 stars and all stickers on the trainer card for Kanto, and so on

It is actually possible to have surskit in XD. It's one of the pokémon you can also trade for a special one (I thought it was meditite with egg moves). So although XD is by far longer, it is definitely a great game to play (far better gameplay than colloseum)
HeartGold and SoulSilver are even worse because they require you to complete the national Pokédex with 484 Pokémon! This includes munchlax, spiritomb, etc.

I was the crazy one who got all of the best stickers. Surprisingly, I wasn't quite crazy enough to complete the National Dex and do the minigames. I wasn't far off on the National Dex either. I'm tempted to go do it now lol.
Man after trying dodrio berry picking for myself and even trying to have 2 friends help me complete it, I am VEERRY skeptical that you completed that challenge alone. I'm not flat out calling you a liar, its just extremely convenient that you lost the footage because that is, in my opinion, the most difficult "single player" challenge in all of Pokemon. The fact that you can see all 3 dodrios on all 3 screens makes it almost impossible to focus on each berry speed and hit multiple berries at once. I play the drums and consider myself pretty coordinated, and I honestly think collecting 200 berries on 3 separate Gameboys by yourself with no help is actually impossible with hundreds of not thousands of hours of dedication.
I... Did... This... This was one of the most tedious ventures of my pokemon career. Difference being is that I FULLY completed the dex, including Mew, Celebi, Ho-Oh, Lugia, Jirachi and Deoxys. I bought so many Japanese copies of the gen 3 games. Worth it to flex.

Both Odish and Slowbro families are in Hoenn, so TLDR; LG and emerald if you want to complete their dexes with the less cartridges posible

I was the crazy one who got all of the best stickers. Surprisingly, I wasn't quite crazy enough to complete the National Dex and do the minigames. I wasn't far off on the National Dex either. I'm tempted to go do it now lol.
However, I just went to that game corner and read the sign on the left. I did play the games lol.
Man after trying dodrio berry picking for myself and even trying to have 2 friends help me complete it, I am VEERRY skeptical that you completed that challenge alone. I'm not flat out calling you a liar, its just extremely convenient that you lost the footage because that is, in my opinion, the most difficult "single player" challenge in all of Pokemon. The fact that you can see all 3 dodrios on all 3 screens makes it almost impossible to focus on each berry speed and hit multiple berries at once. I play the drums and consider myself pretty coordinated, and I honestly think collecting 200 berries on 3 separate Gameboys by yourself with no help is actually impossible with hundreds of not thousands of hours of dedication.
I really like that you included the theme from the Battle Pike it was my favorite, from the Battle Frontier in Emerald

You forgot about wild pokemon in XD. You can get both sandshrew and surskit in that game.
I used to chain breed Pokemon for friends waaaay back in the day, so my FireRed file actually has one of those higher-tier egg stickers xD

This was one of the most tedious ventures of my pokemon career. Difference being is that I FULLY completed the dex, including Mew, Celebi, Ho-Oh, Lugia, Jirachi and Deoxys. I bought so many Japanese copies of the gen 3 games. Worth it to flex.
Ahh those challenges in the pokemon games that really needed you to get so much compared to what we have today.
