I don't know if anyone else has said this, but when your saving at the mewtwo battle near the end of the battle, the in game pokedex counter says 168 while yours says 169. Did you miss one?
here's a funny detail you didnt mention: it is almost necessary to use your master ball on entei (or raikou, if you picked squirtle) since both know roar, and if they use roar during the battle, not only does the battle end, but the game thinks you defeated it, and it will stop roaming the map. the only way to get it back at that point is to reset to an earlier save.
Yeah i got fire red in 4th grade. And played the crap out of it long past ruby ( my gameboy was a gift from a friend after his parents bought him the new ds and he no longer played with the advanced. I was kinda poor.) I still never completed the dex no one would trade and i didnt have the patience to do do this
Basically, major seventh intervals sound discordant, especially when clashing to a melody of tritones and notes semitone distances from the expected triads.
Amazing video, however I did notice a few mistakes you made in the challenge itself. 1.) You didn't get Grimer until after you defeated Koga and gaining access to Surf outside of battle, but it's actually possible to get Grimer before defeating Koga. It has a 1% encounter rate by fishing with the Super Rod in small pond of water in Celadon City. This allows you to get 2 more pokemon added to the dex total in that section. 2.) You should defeat Blaine before Erika. Doing so gives you access to Kindle Road where you can catch Ponyta and Rapidash, whereas defeating Erika first will only give you access to Articuno. Since you want as many pokemon as possible with the fewest gym badges, Blaine should be done before Erika, technically. Still though, amazing video and can't wait for the HG/SS one.
Definitely would watch the Heart Gold Oak Challenge. This video was very well made, and I can tell you put a lot of time and effort into it. Very well done, I went ahead and subscribed to you(On my personal account lol). Well earned! :)
Some constructive criticism. Background music is a bit loud, and the sound that happens when ur dex counter goes up is a bit annoying. Good vid overall!

In FireRed you can only obtain 170 Pokemon. LeafGreen has one extra Pokemon, Azurill, which you get from breeding an Azumarill holding a Sea Incense. Maybe that's where you're getting the total of 171.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! This was my first-ever video like this, and many of the ones I did after removed the sound for obtaining a Pokemon since other people thought it was annoying as well.

Meowth knowing pickup would have made this challenge easier as in firered pickup had not been nerfed since it got nerfed in Emerald so just like Ruby and Spaphire 1% chance after each battle for a rare candy
@@beta511ee4 that is a common misconception berries were implemented in pickup but they do not cancel out any other existing items..I checked both bulbapedia and serebbi just to be sure you if you were right or not.
Great video! I could never muster the paitence. Most of the games are too slow even on 3x speed for me. Haha "When I do an inclusive pokemon marathon who knows how many years from now" love this, I imagine you came out of this challenge not wanting to see a pokemon for a fat minute xD
He alluded to that when he said that you could get one more pokemon in Leaf Green because Marill is exclusive, guess he forgot about that. And to be fair if you were lucky enough to get the event back in the day, you could snag deoxys as well.
Phoenix Nintendo could make so much money by putting an emulator on phones and the switch because I would easily pay them to be able to play leaf green again
simão mateus I know, but I’m saying if they would streamline it, make it more accessible, and make it easier to use, then I would pay for it. The emulators I’ve used in the past have had glitches and issues with saves and eventually I have to delete and reinstall the app because it won’t work. If Nintendo just put out an official gba emulator for phones and put a bunch of gba games on it (much like a nes mini), I would definitely pay for it.

That Random Encounter Guy you wouldn’t be able to finish the challenge because you would deposit all your Pokémon before the next gym, except for stone evolutions where you haven’t gotten the stone yet. Or trades if you count that.
@@TDot_SSB Well, the idea is (once you evolve every Pokemon) that you can, you challenge the Gym with that team, deposit any non-fully evolved Pokemon (or just deposit all but the most recently evolved Pokemon) and then continue like that. I guess I should've been more clear.
Fun fact, I actually did the math and the price on the Magikarp before Mt. Moon in USD is $5.02. Pokedollars are basically an in game equivalent of Japanese Yen so I treated them as such. 500 Yen in 1996 equates to 525.45 yen in 2020 thanks to the value of the currency. Factoring in the current exchange rate for JPY to USD we come out to $5.02.
Watching you find a shiny Pidgey made me remember the only time I found a shiny on a wild encounter. It was on Pokemon Emerald and it was a shiny Poochyena. Best part was, I found it before I went to fight May. Way before I had pokeballs even. :')
I think you could've caught grimer sooner by fishing in celadon city with 1% encounter rate (super rod). Not sure, however, if the lake is actually always there or if it appears after some point of the game
Me pausing it @2:16 when you said you got fire red as a gift at 4, reflecting on how damn fast time flies. I was 8 when red and blue came out but didn’t get it till 10 in 2000. Even then parents didn’t care to get kids games, atleast where I grew up
Glad to see John credited :) One suggestion: Please combine your gotten pokemon more so you don't spam the "got an item" sound, sometimes you were putting it like 3 times in a row, when you could have combined those pokemon into just one achievement. Thanks!

You should consider doing rom hacks like fire red Omega and renegade platinum, those roms are harder and allow you to catch every single pokemon in the national dex
It would be a nightmare for him to do FRO. There are 30 different non-evolved Pokémon alone on the very first route, the starters are underleveled baby Pokémon, and the Gym Leaders are a pain the ass with moves that are considerably broken early in the game.

The three Bird Keepers in Route 18 is a good VS Seeker exploit, because of how much Exp they give out that early in the game.

simão mateus I know, but I’m saying if they would streamline it, make it more accessible, and make it easier to use, then I would pay for it. The emulators I’ve used in the past have had glitches and issues with saves and eventually I have to delete and reinstall the app because it won’t work. If Nintendo just put out an official gba emulator for phones and put a bunch of gba games on it (much like a nes mini), I would definitely pay for it.

Imagine how exponentially tougher this challenge would be if “you *must* deposit a Pokemon after its fully evolved” was included in the rules.
That Random Encounter Guy you wouldn’t be able to finish the challenge because you would deposit all your Pokémon before the next gym, except for stone evolutions where you haven’t gotten the stone yet. Or trades if you count that.
@@TDot_SSB Well, the idea is (once you evolve every Pokemon) that you can, you challenge the Gym with that team, deposit any non-fully evolved Pokemon (or just deposit all but the most recently evolved Pokemon) and then continue like that. I guess I should've been more clear.

Fun fact, I actually did the math and the price on the Magikarp before Mt. Moon in USD is $5.02. Pokedollars are basically an in game equivalent of Japanese Yen so I treated them as such. 500 Yen in 1996 equates to 525.45 yen in 2020 thanks to the value of the currency. Factoring in the current exchange rate for JPY to USD we come out to $5.02.

Watching you find a shiny Pidgey made me remember the only time I found a shiny on a wild encounter. It was on Pokemon Emerald and it was a shiny Poochyena. Best part was, I found it before I went to fight May. Way before I had pokeballs even. :')

I think you could've caught grimer sooner by fishing in celadon city with 1% encounter rate (super rod). Not sure, however, if the lake is actually always there or if it appears after some point of the game

Me pausing it @2:16 when you said you got fire red as a gift at 4, reflecting on how damn fast time flies. I was 8 when red and blue came out but didn’t get it till 10 in 2000. Even then parents didn’t care to get kids games, atleast where I grew up

One suggestion: Please combine your gotten pokemon more so you don't spam the "got an item" sound, sometimes you were putting it like 3 times in a row, when you could have combined those pokemon into just one achievement. Thanks!

You should consider doing rom hacks like fire red Omega and renegade platinum, those roms are harder and allow you to catch every single pokemon in the national dex
It would be a nightmare for him to do FRO. There are 30 different non-evolved Pokémon alone on the very first route, the starters are underleveled baby Pokémon, and the Gym Leaders are a pain the ass with moves that are considerably broken early in the game.
Samuel Garza Well the Gym leaders shouldn't be a problem, since you would have a bunch of overleveled Pokémon.
