    It’s not the LCI yet. Just an update of the iDrive system.

      Quite a major update of the idrive and interior. May as well be a LCI.1

    I've owned this for a year now its an amazing car, comfort, performace I'd say it's a great balance of not owning a M car. Only thing its a very boaty ride it needs to be lowered for better ride and handling.

      Thinking of getting one… does the magnetic ride in race mode sort it? Coming from a Golf R so… correct term probably wrong.

    I'm torn between a raw 2015 F82 M4 with DCT and a G82 M240i. The main reason is that the latter is still under warranty and it's essentially a 2-year-old car versus a 10-year-old one.

    The condensation in the headlight must be a thing with some of these cars. I was talking to a woman who had just traded hers in at BMW and she'd had one replaced on warranty for the same issue.

      Hands down F82 M4 all day long. It's a real M Car and out of the box it's set up really well. This M240i is a great car and when specced right. Thing is with most all wheel drive cars they are easy to drive. Get in and drive and give you a false sense of security until things go wrong and you break the laws of physics and the xdrive is like "sorry mate I tried my best". F82/F80 are cars that actually need a bit of driving skill and the more you learn them the more they reward you with driving pleasure.

      @DownShiftThrottle very well put 👏 love the part where you said "sorry mate, I tried my best" 😅 an M car is where it's at for a drivers car. If your building a straight line drag car then an x drive b58 is hard to beat.

    I am actually at a crossroads..i have a F82..have a chance to get a Comp..but the 2023 M240 is also an intriguing prospect. The M240 will have 3 years worth of Bmw motorplan..the F82 Comp..only 1 year left. Is the G42 m240 that far off from a F82? I cant afford a G82..those prices are just nuts. The 23 G42 is similarly priced and lower mileage.

      I had a F82 Competition for 7 years. Now I'm shopping for M240i. Main reason being for cutting lanes in traffic and accelerating on uneven pavement.

      Why not go for the M2

    • @Salpeteroxid
      @Salpeteroxid 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Going from an F82 to an F82 comp is useless. Everything in the comp vs regular is software except the seats. Get yours coded. Otherwise the M240i is going to be softer, less raw and less powerful but xDrive has its perks (and disadvantages). Check out Michas review of the M240i on the Nürburgring and base your decision (why you will stay with the F82 lol) on that. I have an F82, did Nürburgring with it and everything. Great car, has that old school feeling.

      @@Salpeteroxid would just go m240 because of plan..is it better than a F82..no. like you said the raw feel on a s55 Dct is simply a few level above the B58 zf8.. wouks rear save up and go G82. I snapped out of it.

    Fake M cars i get it, they do cost less for sure. And maybe too you don't want something so beefy. I put in an order for an m2 and my tesy drive was in the city and I would probably never buy an M car for that amount of traffic, it was just no fun to be honest. So I absolutely understand these models

    • @DownShiftThrottle
      @DownShiftThrottle  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I totally agree. you cannot enjoy a M car in traffic. That the issue I have lol most cars around the city are actually faster than a M car. This is where you can enjoy the M240i

      @@DownShiftThrottle I traded my f82 for that reason. Did my best to keep it in pristine condition for 7 years. Enjoyed it to the fullest on the streets but it's a track toy not a street car.

      @fioralbannach6647 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @idk7541: ‘fake M cars’…I don’t think BMW M makes anything fake. You probably meant M light, but you’re completely missing the point. BMW M GmbH, has every right to designate the M badge, where they see fit, as they manufacture performance cars, which the M240i is. Here in Germany, the M240i also has its own racing series. This ridiculous ‘fake’ trash, is a result of pissed ‘real M owners’🥱, being upset at the perceived slight against them, in the extremely close performance values of the M240i/M2. This is deliberate though, as BMW M, also gives those who want a performance car, but also want the added value of xdrive (for snowy conditions like I have), and a daily driver with incredible performance. I couldn’t drive an M2 here in winter if I tried, it’s a safety liability, I need the xdrive. But, I’ll also leave you in your M2 standing in a launch, from 0-60, as you know, I have better traction on the rear axle. So leave the fake mate, both M cars have a lot to offer; at the end of the day, we’re driving a BMW.

  • @Acanofbeer
    @Acanofbeer 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    A brand new M4 costs well over £100k and an almost identical spec M240 xdrive costs £55k. The M4 isn’t twice the car…nowhere near so there’s your answer in a nutshell.

      I don’t believe you ever owned a G42 if I’m honest. If you did you must be an utter moron buying a £40k plus car that “is as boring as shit to drive” as you so eloquently put it. Tw if you think it’s just its take off speed that is all that’s good about the car then that says more about your level of skills behind the wheel than the car.
