As a GR Supra owner, this will be my next upgrade. Same engine and power, xdrive, better infotainment. Thanks for making this video, it seals it for me honestly.
i am glad you enjoyed!
No M2?
Not an upgrade tbh
Wait for the M2 comp with xdrive
@@Jdf4scthat’s like, your opinion. Some people value having rear seats, usable space, and traction in the snow.
From Scarborough and i fw your videos bro. Great reviews👊🏽keep up that down-to-earth reviewing style
Thank you! I appreciate it!
Perfect video, exactly what I was looking for
Awesome to hear! thanks for watching!
My dad recently got a ‘23 m340i and I’ve been trying to find something for myself that would be fun, quick, and practical. This has GOT to be it for me. Almost 20 grand cheaper than the ‘340i, lighter, and just as powerful.
This is the best car.
if you don't need the sedan then this is a great option
Don't regret mine at all. It's surprisingly practical, I've had no complaints about the back seats for the 6 or 7 people I've had sit back there.
20k cheaper?! In which country?
crazy how fuel efficient these cars are for the power they make. great video bro
thanks for watching!
soooo nice, you convinced me to upgrade from my 2016 with 39 k miles, only i still would love the option of a cd player... old school. Nice video !!!
My 09 Elantra came with a CD player, and I only ever put one disc into the slot because I couldn't wait until I got home to listen to it. I ripped a ton of discs on the computer, and then put them on a usb thumb drive. It would play either .wav or .mp3 files, with more music available to you than you could listen to on a coast to coast drive.
I love compact cars and coupes i couldnt relate more been saving to buy this car asap love everything ab it
I’ve had my 2023 since October of last year and I’m already at 22k miles 😂 still love driving it everyday
Damn you drive a lot! Thanks for watching!
Ordered mine in Brooklyn Grey. Can’t wait to drive it
best video of the m240i i could find honestly others would yap a lot
thank you!
Best review on this car so far! Can't wait to pick mine up
picked it up :)
@@anthnxysooo how do you like it??
Great video mate.
Glad you enjoyed it
Nice man. Picked up my 2023 M240i xdrive a month ago, and I am still in the "babying" break-in period. Can't wait to push it, lol. I have to say on top of those on ramps and back roads, the car feels great on cruising highways - very quiet and effortless acceleration.
All BMW’s are broken in already according to the engineers. They test run the cars in Germany before releasing them.
@@billmart67the dealer literally advised a manufacturer required 10k kilometer breakin period for an M4 being picked up when I got my 240i. They did not advise that to me tho, I just overheard them delivering a car to another customer while I was getting my winter tires.
Looks like the M8 is the only current BMW to still receive the iD7 separate display with iD9 software. Really wish BMW would offer the option for the separate displays as it’s visually better and physical climate control buttons along with radio buttons is the best. Also I want an actual gear shifter not some thin rail to select my gears.
Mine just arrived off the boat. It is at the PDC. These last few dats are excruciating!
How long did it take v??
I think that this is the perfect car to own and drive. It's good for long rides, for city, its fun and practical to a certain extent, unless you have a family of course. Great review!
Thanks for watching! I agree!
Once the family comes, I'll switch it for an M340i touring (M3 Touring, unfortunately, is financially out of reach atm).
Agreed totally with your comment, I will be ordering this car pretty soon
Wish we could get the Touring in the US. I've had hatchbacks since the 1970s because I never knew when I needed to haul something and my Trans Am only had 7.1 cu.ft. of trunk space.
i have a used 2018 m240i and this is the most fun daily driver ive ever had... convertible as well... yeah its fun in fl..back seats just large enough for a few bunnies ;)
How often do you have rabbits ride in the back seat?
@@ROVA00 every third Tuesday of the month
I have a 24’ x drive and it is amazing, I went from a 2020 STI to this
very nice!
Going to buy this as soon as I move to us
Like your video bro! Any advice for the choice between GR Supra and M240i at Toronto?
I would get a supra but M240i does give you backseats and a better steering wheel/infotainment system
Wow this is the perfect spec tbh, unfortunately its missing one of the most important option the m adaptive suspension 😅
That comes standard in the US. It’s on every car.
You don't need it at all
Yes. I hate sedans, SUVs, and crossovers. Two door coupes only. I think the M240i is the best daily car to have now. I am saving up money so I can sell my stock 2016 Genesis Coupe 3.8 someday and buy a 2020-2021 M240i xDrive. If I were super rich, I would get the new G87 M2.
There is a package called the “Cooling and High Performance Tire Package” It comes with these rims the small extra fender flares and Michelin pilot sport 4s. In Europe it also includes bigger front brake rotors and a second oil cooler on the right hand side of the car. These both come stock in the US speced cars. I was going to order the M2, until. I saw one. I really think the M240 is so much nicer so I went with it instead of the M2 and saved 10 grand as well. I have an M240 on order, it’s actually on the boat now should get it in a couple weeks. After studying all the options as long as I did I have memorized most of them 😂. As far as blacking out everything in the US it is called shadow line trim and elsewhere its called “black exterior contents” but it’s an option I added as well. Looks awesome!
@@vinnieng1216 I paid close to 59k with options and delivery for mine. Around 64 after taxes and fees.
@@MitchM240 what were the options you choose?🫡
@@vinnieng1216 I paid MSRP. fully loaded. The only option I didn’t get was the cooling and high performance tire package since I have Michelins pilots I’m taking off my M340. I got Premium package,Shadow line package,Parking assistant pro with the 3D view the radar adaptive cruise. Heads up display. Full adaptive LED headlights. Harmon Kardon. Drivers lumbar support, Drive recorder, illuminated M trim and remote start. I paid $59,600 not including taxes. It took my 3 months to find a dealer with an allocation. then it took 6 months to get it once it was ordered.Brooklyn Greta & Tacora red leather. With the Black rims
@@HaloDude557 exactly the same as mine. $64,054 all in with 7% tax dealer fees and state fees.
Went from a 135 to a m235… now looking at 240s… simply love bmw …
you should redo the video with the iconic sound mode + sport plus + no traffic .
is there any chance you get to drive the M2 manual or auto ? love your videos !
I only drive unsold cars so unless a M2 owner volunteers to let me drive it wont be.
You gave really good commentary throughout. Nice ride, I'm surprised they weigh the same as a 3 Series
Thanks for watching and dropping a comment!
Spec I read showed the m240I 80 lbs. lighter than the m340I
Can you put the center infotainment in sleep mode (completely black out)? Also are round gages an option?
yes you can turn the infotainment screen off. No there is not a round gauge option. I showed all the options possible.
Just ordered mine few weeks ago 🫶 so excited 🥳
All good with less ambient lighting. Ain't driving a disco!
*Cough* Mercedes *Cough*
M240i FTW! Feels more like a “race car” than the 3 series, but the 3 series is more practical for sure
M240i is my personal favorite in the model lineup.
@@POV_Driving same!
Is is missing two of the nost important packages. Cruise control and adaptive M suspension. You want those
Make sure to place an order to have those items.
Adaptive suspension is a must
i agreed
Ok, the press, hold and drag is a probably the only good thing about iDrive 8.
heavy on the yes
hey toronto :) Cant believe you dont want the self driving in traffic
I’m either debating on the 340i or 240i but I seen that they have the same engine and same turbo and everything the difference is just being coupe right ? Plus it’s cheaper than the 340i
correct
The simple fact that this car weighs the same as the 4 door M340i makes it a really tough sell. You gain more space and practical seating for passengers, kids, etc with no loss in actual performance.
this car is actually lighter then the M340i and comes in and a lower price.
@@POV_Driving Ehh I think the weight difference would be negligible in real world driving. I haven't driven the M240i but I've driven the M340i and the new M3 and M2 and I couldn't feel any noticeable difference with the balance or weight transfer or anything like that between the 3. All were RWD. Pricing wise, yeah with the right specs between the two, there's maybe a $5~6k difference but for two extra doors, that practicality is worth it IMO.
Not just saying that because I'm a dad but because I've also had a few mustangs, an RSX and a Civic and it was always kind of a pain to carry more than 1 extra person in the coupes.
@@FastRedPonyCar i loved my m240i but its gotta work for your live style. Just me and my gf and two cats. Don’t need more then a coupe.
@@FastRedPonyCarI used to think I needed 4 doors to “bring my friends along” until I realized my friend have their own cars and I only have someone ride on the back seat of my car once every couple of months lol
I actually like having a console stick shift. I was all in until I saw that. Alternative M235i Gran coupe xdrive.
Even with the shifter this is way better the the M235i GC
@@POV_Driving Engine wise, yes. The M235i has a 4 which also has me hesitant. What's your honest opinion about the 340 dash? I'm not a fan of that either.
@@mightyj806 i do like the dash. You get used to it
You can retrofit the old shifter in these (or if someone wanted the new shifter, they can put it in the old models), it's plug and play.
@@koopaGG Really, what way? Will the dealer do it on request or is it something I have to do on my own? Voids warranty?
Awweee hell no plz don’t close the door using the window on a frameless one, good video though
He has no comment for you hahah
Hello is there assistant driving professional package in this car? Where it self drives for u keeps u in the lane , and u just have to leave ur hand on the wheel?
no, 2 series only got active stop and go cruise options. Maybe for 2025+
Ha, ha...I just bought this one yesterday 😄
So to answer your main question - I like it better than my G20 M340 (which I have just traded in for this one). The M340 is a great car, don't get me wrong, I love the cruising on the 401 and also has good rolling punch... but it feels a bit bulky, as they make them bigger and bigger with every new release - and because the M240 is also a bit lighter, it feels quicker too (mostly noticeable in D mode). Handling on the M240 is amazing and feels easier to manoeuvre than the M340. It also feels a bit more responsive during up-shifts (maybe milliseconds less lag) ....driving hasn't felt so much fun since my E46 M3 :)
Hey thanks awesome! Congrats on your purchase! Thanks for watching! Appreciate your feedback. I agree with everything you said too!
I currently have a 2020 M340 also trading it for the M240. I have never even seen the G42 in person yet! But I know I am gonna love it!
Yeah I’m debating on the 340i or 240i idk what’s the difference besides it being coupe
Have you driven the RWD model? Considering it now that they offer it in RWD
I have not. Only AWD in Canada
Don’t understand why it doesn’t have the M adaptive suspension ? My 22 included it as a standard option.
in Canada it is not a standard feature
Bro really closed his car door holding the window 😅
Is there a way to defeat the start-stop feature? There was a dedicated button for that in my old 328i
in the new BMW's with 48v mild hybrid, it only turns off in sport mode, try sport individual with all comfort settings
@@POV_Driving thank you!
What car do you have now?
iDrive 8 was the worst decision. What were BMW thinking? Having the 8 programable shortcut keys in iDrive 7 and dedicated temperature climate control button was the perfect set up. Also why do all car manufactureres thinks we want a glass screen nailed to the dashboard? It would look a lot better if it was built in to the dashboard surround. Even Honda have managed to do it better with the Honda E. Do better BMW.
I agree. I have a 22 with id7 and already don’t like how I need to go through the touchscreen to turn AC off.
@@JordanC717 Oh my god so true. I currently have an M235i Gran Coupe. That is one of the most annoying issues with iDrive 7. Suggest using voice command, although even that is slow to react.
I have a ‘22 w/i7. No need to go into screen to turn A/C off. Just hold the fan button down and it’ll shut off. To turn back on just touch Auto.
Does the m340i come with adaptive dampers ? As the M240i doesn’t
it is optional on both
Is the RS3 more fun than this?
How's the steering feel? I've read that it has "numb" steering.
I mean the steering is still great. compared to older BMW its a bit "numb". I daily a E92 335i and yea there is more feed back but i didn't notice it being bad when i had my 2022 M240i
If you are under 35, then this is a good option, if you are older than 35 and have kids, get the 340i
Good option if you're over 60 also. Empty nesters! Make your friends drive their own cars to the restaurant.
why did they hcanged the screen of the 2023 for this nasty one ???
So where the m240i comes standard with adaptive M suspension
Not sure. Its an option in Canada
in fact, M240i and M340i share the same engine, so it would be extremely similar while driving both of them.. 😂
M340i is heavier and pointless.
@@bikotheanimator6169 No, not really. Its not even 40kg difference.
@@bikotheanimator6169not pointless if you want to carry rear passengers and some luggage.
Its basically an awd MKV Supra 😮
Or the supra is basically a rwd two seater M240i
@@POV_Driving 💯
No. End video.
9:17 suv was upset you didn't cut off those bicycles so he could get into the bumper to bumper highway traffic 5 seconds quicker
literally!
By highway you mean the Don Valley parking lot 😉
What’s the the price on this car
I bought my 2022 m240i Xdrive from bmw Barrie for $69,800. With tax and warranty I was in the $87 thousand range.
Never push a Coupes door on its frameless windows!
opps
9:12 As a cyclist and car enthusiast: Thanks! :)
your welcome
not a fan of these screens. They removed the dash board cock pit and went tesla meh
The graphics on the instrument cluster and sport dials are awful. I get that it's part of the design ethos to be all pointy and sharp, but it's quite jarring to look at. Hopefully BMW can change this with an over the air software update.
So how does it feel compared to M340! ? 240i is heavier and that's why I'm asking
The M240i is lighter, it weights 1755kg, the M340i weights 1792kg
How did you like it ?
When you buy this car you need to brake in the motor before stepping on it. to bad for the guy thats this car
already had 564km
@@POV_Driving whats the manual say?
@@POV_Driving I own an M240i, BMW reccomends a 2,000km break-in period before you exceed 4,000 RPM.
@@jhonnydrop7100 yea it just says to avoid full throttle. I owned a 2022 M240i for a year. never had any issue and was full throttle from the day i got it.
@@POV_Driving you definitely know more than the manufacturer for sure! 👍 dumb BMW engineers right?
Apps. What a terrible idea. Apple have a lot to answer for. Not everyone is an Apple fanboi.
Lmao no it isn't. the G20 platform is a proper car, it's a heavy, longer wheelbase, refined, luxury chassis, it has far superior ride quality and noise isolation, and is in almost every way a better vehicle. The 2 series is closer to a hatch platform, it's lighter and therefore slightly quicker and more 'fun' on track days.
appreciate your feedback
You shouldn't have stopped for the cyclists. It's fine if you're in slow stop/start traffic but to stop when approaching an on ramp to the highway is just stupid and dangerous.
i am sorry you feel that way. I did it for two reasons. To be polite and so that i would have the free space to do a full acceleration. It was not dangerous at all.
@POV Driving Fair enough but you need to be thinking about other road users who are not expecting you to stop at an on-ramp. Especially to let people cross who don't have right of way.
@@phoneaccount8587 i was aware of who was behind me. i came to a stop. i didn't slam on my brakes.
I thought you would buy a BMW because it's a pure drivers cars rwd
