  • Unique conversion design is by Italian design house Bassan & Benedetti.

    As Design et al writes, "Travel, and living on the road, are the main guidelines of each of Bassan & Benedetti’s design choices, therefore embody the philosophy with which the guest lives and inhabits the boat. All this translates into the search for stylistic and cultural contaminations, methods, and functions of use of spaces, mirroring philosophies and traditions that tell stories of different lives and civilizations. This allows the guest to embark on a journey not only to rediscover the element of nature, but also to discover their own home on board the boat."
    The Offshore Supply Vessel available for the conversion is U.S. Built with CAT power. This is an all-weather, long-range global expedition conversion project that starts with an ocean-proven hull built as part of a series for the offshore oil industry. It has azipod drives with dynamic positioning and conforms to ABS specs and class rules. This vessel can be converted in 14-18 months at a fraction of the cost of a 'white boat', but will deliver more load-carrying for toys and tenders, longer-range and endurance, and a tougher vessel.
    Xplorer Yachts specializes in the conversion of commercial and government vessels into global expedition yachts. We source our vessels directly from vessel owners in Europe and the U.S. and currently have over 50 vessels we are showing as 'available' for conversion. As 'Owners Rep' we assist in all aspects of the design, purchase of vessel, shipyard bidding and project management. We operate in Europe and the U.S. Direct contact: PM@XplorerYachts.com. Love the channel, but I'd love to see an occasional review of a smaller Explorer boat. I love the amazing ship's you review, but I'd love to dream about something I could one day Captain.

    Thats amazing estimated cost and cabins

    • @ExpeditionYachts
      @ExpeditionYachts  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      If we stay away from the yacht yards and do the conversion commercially with a high quality interior fabricator, we estimate that it can be done for under $20 million. 6 cabins would be the norm, due to regs, but it could easily handle double that.

      @ExpeditionYachts I appreciate the response love the videos I was thinking $60 million I really want a yacht with 10 cabins that can serve as a mini cruise ship but will be my permanent home traveling the world but people can book 3 days 7 days 10 days wherever im at so its more affordable but luxury this is why I play the lottery but business might 20x one day thanks!!!!!!!

    Love your conversion videos. Do you think the OSVs would work just as well as yacht support vessels or would be an overkill?

    • @ExpeditionYachts
      @ExpeditionYachts  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, they are readily adaptable as yacht support vessels and there are some operating in that capacity. They may be more capable than the mother ship (yacht), but that's ok.

    Love the design. Would this design (helipad type) work on a 68 meter hull?. Could you give a ball park figure to the cost of this conversion. Many thanks in advance

    • @ExpeditionYachts
      @ExpeditionYachts  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes, this design can adapt to a shorter hull. The OSV series are built on a standard platform that runs from 68m to 85m with the same beam and bridge superstructure- the difference is the length of the aft deck.

      Regarding cost, we are estimating €14 million for the conversion with a first-class European interior fabrication.

    Paul who could/would actually build something like this in terms of shipbuilders?

    • @ExpeditionYachts
      @ExpeditionYachts  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There are reputable OSV builders across the globe. For an expedition yacht based on an OSV hull, I would prefer Spain, Scandanavia, or Louisiana.

    We never see a seaplane on board. Yes the helicopter is cool and all for quick jaunts to the boat when it is docked. But if you are 300 miles out, a seaplane can land, off load people supplies, and refuel, and fly home. or be winched up and stored. The US Navy had that on many ships.

    Hello sir, I would like a service from you please. I am a student in the Marine Department and I have a graduation project on designing a fiberglass yacht. I need rules. I searched a lot in all the organizations and I did not find anything but steel I need rules of Lloyd's register or abs for glass reinforced plastic for a yacht less than 24 m

      Hmmm. Not sure, but perhaps this CG document might help: ww2.eagle.org/content/dam/eagle/rules-and-guides/archives/special_service/12_reinforcedplasticvessels/pub12_reinforcedplastic_op.pdf

    I like the American version better. Looks more bsttleship-ish. You know, gotta ferer all the pirates, 😆 lol!. Seriously though, sfter selling off the unneeded equipment snd then converting everything, what is the cost roughly? What is the cost of s Damen SeaXplorer which is roughly the closest thing to compare this to? Then whay would the cost of Hodor be? Which is roughly the toy capacity wise, but obviously not even close to the level of refinement

    • @ExpeditionYachts
      @ExpeditionYachts  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The SeaXplorer 60 lists at €69 million. We would expect to finish this for under €20m all-in. Online it looks like Hodor is askng $55 million - 4 years old. I doubt very much that it cost that much to build in Spain- probably closer to $30m.
