I was aboard this vessel for18 years .she was very well looked after by both crews .I was down engine room for 10 years also on deck for eight years .its nice to see her go to this remarkable vessel .would like to see the end result when completed.I still keep in contact with crew who was also there for many years .good job guys she earn,s all the respect
Actually did one trip on this vessel when I worked for Atlantic offshore,I was frc coxswain/deckhand my cabin was forward portside cabin, she was a great ship and had a great crew, glad to see shes getting a new life as she wasnt an old build
I served as ch/eng.on a twin Voith unit tug for 15 years…they ARE very manoeuvrable,BUT they are not as far as I know as fuel efficient as propeller units…I would have used azimuthing props…but if money is no object ,well there you go.cheers,Roly🇬🇧.
The main advantage of this system is that it eliminates the need for additional stabilisation like Fin Stabilisers or Gyros. A big big pro in terms of simplicity and of course investment. Also the vessel will be equipped with very efficient generators, controlled through an advanced power management system. And since the vessel is not meant to go fast, slow cruising is actually very efficient.
As a shipbuilder I wonder why Voith Schieder for a long range vessel, there are reasons not many built as such. Not knocking the system at all, it is very good but exposed blades.
This is exploration for the idle rich not science, so the floating bordello effect and stockpiles of booze can't be ignored. There is a glut of tasteless oligarch superyachts on the market atm. Perhaps this drives the expedition fad ?
Sounds like it will be a dream for helicopter pilots and they're passengers should feel more comfortable during landings also stabilizing comfort for on board guests when the vessel is holding still for take off and landing.
Good Nz morning mate. Looks a pretty awesome project, and will be great to see the finished result. Is there a accurate estimate on final cost.???. I like it. However, . As Mr Billy Shakespeare once said..."aaaah to sleep, perchance to dream." Yes, slightly misquoted. Anyway John, another great presentation. Thank you for sharing and for taking the time to upload. Take care mate.
The ship is obviously for family fun! Trying to justify some sort of environmental advancement is stupid. Build it , enjoy it quit trying to justify your families fun!
worst prop design ever, the smallest chunk of ice or a nice size submerged log WILL snap those blades off like glass. I seen it 100s of times in my maritime career Dont even think of so much as scraping the bottom, you ruin everything. At least with a actual prop or azipods the blades are somewhat protected as they normally do not protrude past the keel line, and much more robust.

How much used does this or one like her go for so I can do same conversion?
Actually did one trip on this vessel when I worked for Atlantic offshore,I was frc coxswain/deckhand my cabin was forward portside cabin, she was a great ship and had a great crew, glad to see shes getting a new life as she wasnt an old build
This magnificent vessel when completed will be just simply- WOW!
I can’t wait to see her when completed.
I wouldn't even like to think about the cost of doing this
Now this is my kind of yacht
🙌
This looks like it will be an awesome conversion. Cant wait to see it completed
Me too 🙌

Well, that is a remarkable vessel to-be! Another Ragnar for Icon. Great job with the GA plans mate! Thanks!
Love those ocean rescue conversion. As long as they have a good captain and mechanics, they will be safe
This is going to be am amazing project and looking forward to see her commissioned 👍
🙌
Wow! I can't wait to see this yaght and it's propulsion system.
🙌
0:19 Been there. A 3-day gale on the Flemish Cap in November. I think the waves approached 50 ft. in height.
That must have been a hell of a ride 🌊🌊🌊
Looks like it's going to be an awesome, awesome yacht!
An extremely capable global explorer 😍
As a shipbuilder I wonder why Voith Schieder for a long range vessel, there are reasons not many built as such. Not knocking the system at all, it is very good but exposed blades.
How much will the conversion cost? Including cost of vessel? & how long will it take to complete?
Nobody seems to mention that the "Havila Tigris" or "Ocean Ness" was built at Kleven, the same yard that built both the "Ulyesses"
The original vessel looks more versatile as an expedition yacht. The conversion yacht looks more like a beachside cruiser for serving cocktails.

So rich people that want luxury are stupid to enjoy life?
Awesome
Simply incredible. Not much more I can say🍻

This is such high quality content and your voice sounds amazing. You should consider being a narrator
Hey, thanks 🙌 I appreciate it 👍
Loved video !!! Best video yet on tube!!!! And I want one too!
Lekker man lekker 🇿🇦
🙌
It should look simple and work with no limits. Purposeful builds in pairs.
Could you please also do a video on the newest conversion ANNOUNCEMENT at the Monaco Boat Show this year by Icon Yachts.... "PROJECT UFO"
I really like the designs by Kasten Marine. If you ever run across an opportunity to showcase one, I would watch with great interest.
I would love to! I might ping them over an email and see what happens
Well done mate. Great vid
Thanks, John 🙌 I appreciate it 👍
Have you ever done a video on a FINISHED conversion?
Yep: THIS Is The Only TRAWLER SuperYacht Of Its Kind! | M/Y 'Scintilla Maris'

What was the cost to buy the ship? What was the cost to re model it?
Hats off to the owner and Icon. Like to learn more about the new propulsion system.
It’s a phenomenal system and the first time it has been used on a private yacht

Those boats B+ could have Lloyd's
1 helicopter is plenty. The 2nd only useful if ready on separate pad.
I WANT THIS SHIP IF IT WAS WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE TO ALL DECKS
How many square feet are in 2,862 square meters?
30,806 🙌
Very cool conversion, but those new 'propellers' look kind of fragile.
The system is actually extremely rugged and stable. Has been used with amazing success in the highly demanding offshore industry for years
any update?
Not yet 🫡
Project master is definitely cool but I like Ragnar more for her design
Give me the original boat anyday ...
Well how much?
5 + 40 i guess
Ragnar in principles but "RkHick
The owner don't need a main Superyacht
... 👏... 👍...
Propulsion? 500' could handle like 88.
The ship is obviously for family fun! Trying to justify some sort of environmental advancement is stupid. Build it , enjoy it quit trying to justify your families fun!
Not being funny but these vessels are ten a penny in the North Sea and elsewhere.
“Epic” seems such an underwhelming statement.
And the dollars…. geez.
