Hey Chris, I was being sarcastic about the cost. Some channels get free cameras from the companies and sound like it is so easy for others to make 360 videos. I own a dual Kodak SP360 4K now and very happy with them. Software needs a little improvement but works great. i have made some great videos. I don't want to sound like promoting my channel but check them out and let me know what you think. It may even give you an idea what Kodak cameras can do also. I will check yours for 360fly videos!
How can you not like this video. It's very punctual, nice guy, informative, and inspiring. Makes me want to do it even tho I've never thought of doing it. Just ran across the video randomly on TH-cam.
Great job! I just got an Insta360 Air and I couldn't figure out how to edit footage off of the camera and how to upload it to TH-cam in 360. This answers pretty much everything. Thanks!
Man, As simple as it is...I thought my new Samsung Gear 360 required some mental gymnastics, compared to syncing 6 Go Pro's - I can't even afford to think about that. Keep fighting the good fight and Thanks for the vid!
Thank you so much! You very clearly explained how -the mystery that 360 video/VR can be- works. I wish more people knew how to explain things like this!
Great video! I am actually writing about how we could use this "relatively" new technology to enhance education. Keep doing what you are doing, the Internet thanks you.
with the gopro hero4 how do I turn on the 4:3 mode? my avp wont stich the six vids. it groups all six videos into one small screen when I stich them together..
Thank you. I first saw this technology in 2018 when a National Park Ranger had shot the 360 footage and I watched with a cell phone as a VR experience. It was very cool. The American Battlefield Trust has 360 videos on TH-cam. They are great. I would love to create them, but it is not a cheap hobby. Clear instructions on the video.
It's interesting... However, it's way too expensive. Instead, I'd buy 6 cheap cellphones and 3D print a stand for a selfie stick. That'd be much simpler...
Awesome video...looking forward to an advanced workflow video. Maybe on how to create backgrounds in After Effects in 360, how to place graphics, etc. Cheers!
Thanks for the video! It was long but super informative and I'm so eager to create some epic travel vlogs! You have helped me so much! I appreciate your time and effort it took to make this video. I'll check out some more of your videos on your channel.
Great question. When you shoot in 2.7 K you can't have as high of a frame rate. Also the final product is so large that I don't think you need a 2.7 K image as one of your six go pros. However you can shoot 2.7 K if you want. It is one of the recommended settings in addition to 1440. I just prefer shooting with 1440 at 60fps.
Thanks for taking the time to make this. You're right there is a void in basic workflow info. I am curious about adding green screen shot footage and if that can be layered on top of the 360. And can you mix 360 shot footage with zero degree? In other words, can you take a non-360 video and turn it into a 360? Any thoughts are appreciated.
Just getting into this with Insta 360 One X3, Zoom H3 VR and Oculus Quest 2 and Final Cut Pro. How do you accommodate moving the camera (like walking) and correlating that to how much you can move while having an Oculus Quest 2 on? Do you have any videos about planning movement other than just standing still and looking around in 360 degrees. The goal is to create a short scripted story with the ability of moving around a bit. Is it as simple as figuring out how much space you want the user to be able to move in any direction with the headset on and making sure you use those same measurements when filming; like pretending that you have the virtual guardian when actually filming?
That was very informative. Good information. This gives us a stepping stone as to the things we need. Thanks for sharing. The 360 world is in its infant stage. You have the set up to capitalize on it. Its hard to find a lot of 360 videos and some are to grainy and blurry to appreciate.
It's kind of funny that you are uploading this Workflow Tutorial just now, because we just finished working on a college semester project with the goal of creating a 360 degrees thriller short movie for Oculus Rift with some aditional interactive triggers added to it. Would have really helped to not have to figure out the whole workflow on our own, because we basically did exactly the same as you explained but it took much longer I suppose :D (not much specific stuff to find on that topic by now). At least the last (how to put it on youtube) part helps a bit to get our finished film out to the world to see (because unfortunately almost nobody has an Oculus at the moment :D) Anyway, from experience I can say that your video is well made and acurate in terms of facts and workflow tips and will hopefully help a lot of people to get into that type of filmmaking :) thx for that and cheers from the "Dreamsphere" Team
+Moritz Metzger Hey, thanks for that comment. I'm sure I made a mistake or two somewhere in the process. I was trying to add to the small amount of info out there. I'm looking forward to watching it all on the new Oculus myself. I ordered one, but have a couple months left to wait. Maybe I'll get to watch your thriller movie on there too - I think that might be one of the best uses of VR. - R
Hello there! I am Serena. I am curious that if the video will be interactive as I want to try to create an online VR Chinese class. Please let me know your suggestion!
Great vid Rob! I think what will really take off is the stereo 3D 360 videos, once the occulus/glyph/vive become more accessible this type of form of storytelling will add to the functionality of those headsets. Check out the Jaunt VR app, they have some pretty cool stereo 360 videos. Cheers!
+MrKlay Creative - VFX and Filmmaking - I fully agree! I'm excited to test them out in the VR headsets coming out. They're definitely fun and a novelty on the phone or on the computer, but I'd much rather see it (and share it) how it was intended to be seen...
Thank you so much!! :) can't wait to actually learn all this stuff better! I just met the Ricoh Theta and making things with that one. Save up some money and get the gopros! Thanks again!
Just about to dabble in a 360 video rig but wanted to see if anyone knew whether the Ricoh Theta V (or any other off the shelf option) would work as well as the GoPro option?
If I have windows OS, how to add one more 360 video after the first video taken by THETA S ? I mean i have 2 videos and I want to upload only one video ?
Need help, I cant get the meta data to be injected into the video. After using the software, youtube still does not see it as 360 and I cant get it uploaded in 360. Hope to be able to get help, Thanks!
Thx for the crash course. Do you know if this will work with 6 go pro hero 2? I think this will help me get my feet wet while not dumping thousands of dollars on gear.
I'll save everyone some time...
Step 1: Spend $3,000!

@Terry20 lol
It's 2 years later. What's the cost of this tech now?
Thanks!
1% cheaper
$2999
3 years
Is 4 years ago made :/
So all we need is a $500 stand to hold $2000 worth of GoPro cameras as well as a $500 software :)
Exactly lol.
yeah lol, very expensive
Nope. All you need is $600 and you buy a 360Fly 4K camera.

How can you not like this video. It's very punctual, nice guy, informative, and inspiring. Makes me want to do it even tho I've never thought of doing it. Just ran across the video randomly on TH-cam.
Can you stream 360 degrees videos live on TH-cam?
Great job! I just got an Insta360 Air and I couldn't figure out how to edit footage off of the camera and how to upload it to TH-cam in 360. This answers pretty much everything. Thanks!

Great vid! Lots of info packed into those 18 minutes. No wasted moments or digression. Well done!
Thank you so much! You very clearly explained how -the mystery that 360 video/VR can be- works. I wish more people knew how to explain things like this!
Great video! I am actually writing about how we could use this "relatively" new technology to enhance education. Keep doing what you are doing, the Internet thanks you.
Oh...he's rich. That explains why 3000 dollars is "cheap".
Well done! My first intro video on this great technique. Clear and easy to follow.
Very impressive! I like the idea that this gives everyone the ability to watch 3D videos without those pair of 3D glasses. Amazing!
+Creative North - Agreed. That's why I(we) think that this is going to catch on a bit better than 3D did.
+Creative North this is 360 not 3d
This video is too good for youtube ! I never saw an explanation as good as yours!
with the gopro hero4 how do I turn on the 4:3 mode? my avp wont stich the six vids. it groups all six videos into one small screen when I stich them together..
great video & tons of information well explained. Thanks guys... keep doing the good work ✌🏻

Great video. Thanks for being generous and sharing your knowledge and experience. Great teaching style.
Super ahead of your time!! You're absolutely brilliant. Thanks for sharing this with the world
Great video. 5 years ago hope your doing good. Great presentation. 📡👽🇺🇸 I SEE EVERYTHING NOW.
Damn. I really wish I had the funds to get into this. Crazy expensive. Great video! Thanks!
That rig surely is under the 3d printing project
Always very complete!! Thanks for all the tips! Someday it will be necessary to use :)
four years later...
Brilliant video, you covered all the important bits. Thanks
Thanks. This was exactly what I needed as great starting place to learn 360 Video, editing, etc. Appreciate your effort very much.
Excellent introduction to what it takes. Thank you.

Thanks for the video. Now with Google Daydream being released I think this kind of media is going to explode.
Not yet
Thank you so much - much of what you said has happened but the basics you cover are the same.
Fantastic tutorial Rob.
very nicely explained and just appropriate for a beginner. it was very useful, thanks a lot
Quick question. In settings, you choose 1440 instead of 2.7K 4:3. Any reason for that?
Thanks for the video. Answered so many of my questions.

god bless u for this video....I have been looking everywhere for something like this
What about for the video?
Like for example the lego Movie 2 music video 360? How
Thanks Rob! I wish all tutorial videos could be this good.
Nice intro to the world of 360 filming. Thanks for the info and for sharing your experience!
That is some nice information. Thank you from the Middle East 👍🏼

You made it look so easy! I think I will duct tape 6 GoPros and try to do a 360° video for my band's live session!
Great intro to the work flow, Buddy! Thank you!

YOU'RE AWESOME!!!! THANKS FOR THIS VIDEO. I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO LEARNING HOW TO DO THIS. MANY BLESSINGS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.
I wonder if we could just warp the video with adobe software and upload it ... Gonna try that

Hi I have a question, what if we don't want to see the person holding the GoPros, is that possible to do without being in the frame ? Thanks

郁文卿 depends what u mean by interactive - real interactivity such as Doom VR needs another workflow.
Well you did it watch new arcs are coming soon
Thank you very much for this information! Great for you to share - wanted to learn more about the topic. You explain the process very well.
You are awesome ! Could you also please do a new video with some 3d audio added to it...they have those special microphones for that nowadays
Thank you for this! really helpful!

Is it possible to combine standard video and VR video in one video file? Like a modern version of "put on your 3D glasses now"?

Cool, perfect, just what I need, Tnx Rob!
Great work!!! Excellent explanation. I am dropping the coin..right now. BUY!!
Awesome. Are you getting the 6 GoPro rig?
How does that work I did the exact same thing but it does not do that
