This is such a cool video Nate. SUPER informative, I'll be using some of these techniques on my next build!
Thanks so much! Maybe it's time to try contact cement 👀
Cool!
Yeah
Keep up the awesome work bro@@N8TEBB
Damn, The impactprops taking in info, that must feel pretty good to hear as a small creator
This is a certified good youtube video, I ate my lunch while watching it
Thank you so much!
@@N8TEBBcould you link the Ab Wrap file i cant find it anywhere
Oh man the old EVA foam and Pepakura method. Still viable today in some circumstances. Most people would just 3D print things now a days, including g myself. Good job using the original method!
I just love the flexibility that foam armour has! I’m able to wear the suit for 9 and a half hours without feeling sore at the end of the day, and I’m sure the weight of the armour and the squishy-ness of the foam helps with that
23:16 I am in awe of that prop collection. Magnificent
That's amazing just made an 405 account and I can't wait to make at least one piece of armor
The amount of detail you put into this is crazy definitely deserves more recognition.
Definitely one of the best halo suits I’ve seen made
If this is one of the best you've seen then I definitely have to upload the suit I am working on to my main account.
@@TheCunningStuntI’m interested
Just got to say looking at the first seconds of the video that the opening shot of the spartan felt surreal. I feel like your cosplay feels more accurate to halo than many out there. Great work!
Thank you!
great video !! it was great meeting ya at fan expo ! . look forward to your next big build !
Fantastic! - The ears are hilarious
Cat ears for the win!!!
this is gonna help a ton with mine though im likely just going to come to you anyways! Thanks N8 for showing off how you made your amazing suit! (RED TEAM ON TOP)
Thanks so much!! I’m always glad to give help :)
Red team forever!!!!
I've been thinking of getting into cosplay and this is rather inspiring
Impressive!!! You just got an instant subscriber!!! I learned more from you in 31:17 than I have in the last two years!
Thank you!
this was an excellent tutorial! and the armor looks fantastic!
Thank you!!
You kinda sound like the superintendent from halo 3 odst when you're talking from the helmet lol (great video btw)
I love the hello kitty armor set
First time ever I’ve been astonished like this. It’s truly impeccable and the pictures are breathtaking!! Absolutely impressive ❤❤ Much love!!
Wow, thank you!
The cat ears make it even better 7w7
Needs more views you worked really hard for this
Let’s hope it gets some more! 🤞
was the intro filmed at sleeping bear dunes? i used to hike there all the time!
Filmed at the Pinery on Lake Huron, Canadian side. Same type of dunes though!
Awesome video and it turned out great! The sheer time and dedication put into this is very impressive!
Corn Uncle Approves
Thank you for the approval Corn Uncle 👍🌽
Wow this is amazing! Please never take this vid down because I'll be using it for reference
Dude this is an amazing video! Seriously great work! Can't wait to see more
Amazing tutorial!, I made a suit out of 3d prints but i want my next project to be foam due to mobility + comfort, I've never foam smith'd and have been looking for good tutorials and this is perfect!
Dude i just watched the master chief from 2020 and went straight to this. The improvement is night and day great job. Tried a spartan before but all 3D printed and I gave up but I might try foam instead
insanely underrated video. good job on the build! you have insane dedication and patience that one day i hope to have making something to this scale 😭
Your video gave me the motivation and insight into creating my own armor. Thank you.
Most in depth video iv'e found, this is gas
I lvoe your videos, for sure going to make some of my own!
Wow. thats so impressive in such a short amount of time!
I thought your voice sounded familiar, I used your visor tutorial ages ago for my ODST helmet
well done man !
real looking good
The pictures at the end were so cool
Thank you!
Great video! Had a blast meeting you at CGCC, I’ll likely rewatch this a few times. Good good stuff!
Thanks for the support!!
Nice job, looks amazing
Thank you!
This looks so cool! And it’s only foam and 3d Prints! I want to make this whenever I get a 3d Printer. Mainly for my child, dearest EVA Helmet
Great, comprehensive video!
Thank you!
Absolutely MAGNIFICENT
The algorithm knew I've been religiously studying the Mk VII 👀👀
Damn, this armor looks so cool. It looks like am seeing it from the game but with better animations
The snake is a great idea!
It's a real game changer. Super helpful for getting those hard-to-reach areas
In the words of Princess Leah "A little short for a spartan"
😭😭
19:17 He's got a box 👍👍
Absolutely amazing job
Thank you!
hail to you Nate. True master of your craft.
Wow, magnetic Cat Ears, that's awesome!
This way when people at conventions say “nice suit! But I hate those ears” I can just take them off and blow their minds XD
Love the video!! Your videos are a great reference for someone like myself looking to do things without that much equipment. The magnetic cat ears was a great addition!! One note, you might want to blur out the license plates in your video & avoid showing the road, some ppl are cracked at google maps and could figure out where you live
This helps so much and has really opened my eyes on what to look for and to do. Thank you so much. I have been thinking of building a master chief mark 7 suit. Not now but next year I will or the year after and this video is going to be a huge help for that. Also nice cat ears lol, I’m gonna give chief cat ears when I make him lol.
Thank you so much for your support! Best of luck on your future build! The cat ears will be a nice touch ;)
Commenting for the algorithm! Very nice job sir
Well, one more thing to add to my bucket list!
Dude this is so cool! I subbed :) Please keep up the good work!!!
Thank you!!!
@@N8TEBB Of course! I want to eventually make my own armor and stuff its just getting the rescources to do so cause I'm only 16 lol. I do have a 3D printer and I'm actually making a Magnum right now!
this was the best suit i have ever seen
Spartan-mjau 117 in kitty cat mission "take the ball" - on pursuit.
Hey man just curious how big is Ur 3d printer, I see the size and I'm hoping my 3d printer can use the STL file
I have a CR-10. The build size is 300x300x400mm. That is not big enough to print the helmet in one piece, so I split the file in a free program called “windows 3D builder”. I printed the helmet in 4 pieces and then glued it together with CA glue
This is honestly such an informative video. Really shows the groundwork as to how to start, and finish this project. I’ve always wanted to make a suit like this and honestly, after this video I think I will start my own journey with this. I do have a question though. What 3d printer do you use? Always wanted to get one but didn’t know what would work. Once again, thank you for this video!
Thank you for the support!
Personally I bought a CR10 (like, the original) back in 2020. Printers have since improved drastically however. I would not buy that printer today. I recommend going to the 405th, the costumes and props section, and reading through the “what’s your printer” thread and the “‘I wish I knew’ tips to starting 3D print” thread. Hopefully you will get a good idea of what newer printers have, what to look for in a printer, and what other people are using. So cool that you’re starting a build! When you get started definitely start a thread in the new recruits section in the 405th to share your progress and ask any questions you have!
I just started trying this, and of my God it is impossible, very very impressive excellent video
wow that was such a making the project for suit awesome
Está increíble!! saludos desde Perú!
Some machinima shit brought to life. I need to do this asap
That helmet amp is cool because it sounds like RvB now!
You have such a cool office.
This was really helpful & inspired me to make my own halo infinite armor! I have this character that I named Shogun! He's teal in color with those visor that goes all the way to scalp (hopefully that made sense) thank you again for making this! Alright Imma make the concept of cosplay right now.
Glad I could help!
That's so sick
I wanna get into making cosplay armor so bad but I have no idea where to start this video is going to help so mich
Awesome job! Wish I had your amount of free time!!
Great content man, you should branch into more cosplay, bet you could get a huge community
I WISH man. There’s a bucket list of games a want to play and things I want to make a mile long. Being a full time student really limits the amount of time I am able to spend making things though :(
Hopefully in the future I can make more stuff!! 🤞
oh ok, you said theres a lot of really cool armor in the halo UNIVERSE. good, i almost thought you were gonna say in halo infinite
🤣😅
just ran into your channel. love the suit, but I have 1 question why didn't you make the under armor body suit out flexible filament and then just sewed a zipper to it( kind of like a scuba diving suit)
Cool!
Wow! Thank you for sharing! 2:52 WOOO EVA mentioned! Keep it up! just subd 😎💫
Also! What if you used hot wire for foam cutting, especially since so many of the edges are curved? I hope that helps!
Thank you for the support! I hot knife would probably work quite nicely for those curved pieces. I haven’t really looked into it too much. I don’t think it would save much time though, as I would still probably want to sand all the edges before gluing. Some folks in the 405th prefer to use a bandsaw, which is another interesting idea.
12:10 jump scare warning omfg
12:20 Best shirt! haha :)
Indeed :D
Great video! It really helped me figure out the process flow of my ODST armor build. I was wondering what layer height did you print the visor buck at? Thanks!
I used 0.2 mm
@@N8TEBB Thanks!
It would be cool if you could make a tutorial on how to make an odst version
Mr. Nate! I'm stuck trying to size the shoe, using Armorsmith; it's not proportionally correct to the rest of the other pieces, any tips?
Those kitty ears are a nice touch 💀
Good evening in any case superb video and a great tutorial I loved it and inspired me to make my own armor.
quick question I wanted to ask you about the waist jumpsuit where can we find the template for pepakura?
thank you
Got it from this post. It's a file by SpiderMonkey www.405th.com/forums/threads/jerverants-mkvii-%C2%B7-anubis.52995/post-825013
@@N8TEBBgood evening thank you very much for your response I will take note of it 😊
Bravo bel lavoro
YOOOOO THATS SOOOO COOL
Thank you!!
@@N8TEBB i got you bro
Great video! I’m working on ODST armor right now, so I appreciate the help. I do have a question. Where do you buy the foam for your armor? I’ve had horrible luck finding foam in stores where I live.
I buy mine at Canadian Tire. Foam mats are also sold at Home Depot, Walmart, Amazon, athletic stores etc
@@N8TEBBAlright great! Thanks for the response!
Damn man the armor looks incredible, would you consider/do you take commission? Started going to conventions with my friend and I'm thinking of doing either an ODST or Chief's Infinite armor, but I obviously have zero experience in putting cosplay sets together.
Thank you! Unfortunately I don’t do commissions. I would highly encourage you to give crafting a try! Everyone has to start somewhere, so don’t be discouraged if it’s not perfect in the first go. Join the 405th and read through other peoples build threads, interact with the community, and start your very own build thread. There’s so many people ready to help you with your costume and give you advice.
This is making me want to make my reach armor so bad
Do it!!!
Hey, @OFiveTwo is in the group picture at the end of the video (on the left side), currently following his tutorial with a mix of yours to make my own suit
Yes I got to meet OFiveTwo in Cleveland! Such a great fellow. He’s cooking up some great tutorials, so I hope you have fun with your build!
@@N8TEBB thanks! 😁
Wait a minute this isn't Indy Mogul
how many squares of foam pads did it take to make this suit? And what was the estimated total cost start to finish? Thanks in advance!!! (And amazing work btw)
So I used about 16 foam tiles, that 64 square feet. I'd definitely recommend checking out my build thread on the 405th, as well as the tutorial on the 405th called the "foam guide". It will give you a pretty good idea of how much foam it takes to make different kinds of foam halo suits, the different kinds of foam that you can buy, and other general helpful information. At the end of my build thread, I have a cost analysis, I'll link it here: www.405th.com/forums/threads/n8tebbs-mk-7-build.54089/post-830914
Where do you fo from here? Do you improve the undersuit? Add something like a voice modulator to the helmet? weapons?
How about all of the above! Lots of stuff wip rn
Damn I was hoping it would be mechanically assisted with a titanium alloy outer plating. Also, not the cat ears one...
no way bro, we using the same coating lol
I would love to do this with my Spartan from halo infinite but I jus don’t have the patience to do it 😭
Hey I was wondering if you could tell me what kind of 3d printer you used for printing the helmet. Im looking into making my own armor
When you get started definitely start a thread in the new recruits section in the 405th to share your progress and ask any questions you have!
I would love to make a full size jorge, but i dont have the money or abilities lol
Time to make my own bc I’m gonna show it off to my friends and call them stinky
i wonder if you have seen how some people made there stuff back in 2010. i had worked on an old helm but never actually finished it but got most of its basic parts put together way back when i was in high schoo.
I’ve seen a few of those older suits! From back when pepakura was the optimal method for making armour. That method was a LOT of work.
@N8TEBB ya that was how i was making mine. It really was a tone of work. Proud of the little I did do with it though.
What did you use when you were gluing your 3d printed helmet together? I saw you said you used instant bond glue (which is like super glue?), but then you sprayed it with something? What was that?
The spray was activator. It makes it bond super fast
Hey thanks for the advice for my mk vii armor this is s617
The link for the templates contains JPG files. How do I turn them into PDO for Pepakura?
If you make an account with the 405th you will be able to use the big yellow “download” button which is a zip file with the .pdo files
Do you recommend it for a beginner who has never worked with a foam of any kind? If not, what should I start with?
A lot of beginners start with an ODST because there’s less complex geometry. My first suit was a halo 3 Spartan which is also simpler than this one. It will always be tricky at first, but the important thing is to just keep trying!
iTS GREAT TUTORIAL
Where do you buy the sheet of petg from, and if it’s online can I get the link please?
I buy mine from eBay. Unfortunately the listing keeps moving around so my link doesn’t work anymore. You can also buy it from McMaster carr
Quick question, I’m fairly new to this and wanted to know how I could scale it to my body
I use a program called pepakura designer. It’s a program that takes your measurements and applies them to a digital mannequin that you can scale the files to. You can see how I scale my armour at the time stamp 1:34
