QD: I have both the Clifton 6 and Rincon 1. I’d call it a tie but can’t see the Rincon as a daily trainer as the outsole wears down so quickly... I’ll pick up the Clifton 7 soon!

I owned both the C6 and R1. Loved the feel of both but purchased the R1 first then C6 following 3 months. The Rincon became my daily trainer at first and it truly is a versatile shoe. However, when the C6 arrived I really appreciated the comfort of the upper and the balanced midsole of the C6. The Rincon did me well for summer of 2019 but as Fall approach it was all Clifton. As I continued to racked more miles, I came to settled on the Clifton 6 as the superior shoe. I enjoyed my runs much more and it was the shoe that got me to my first half marathon as a born again runner :) Despite what folks say, I find the C6 can easily handle a good uptempo run and I find that I was able to keep my pace more consistent over a longer distance. With the Rincon, my legs often began to fatigue by mile 10. I ran both shoes in comparison many times and keeping close attention to pace, cadence and my heart rate, the Clifton 6 can match the Rincon with no leg fatigue for me. I loved the C6 so much I purchased the reissued Clifton 1 to see what the hype was about. Was the Rincon a resurrected Clifton 1? As I find many similarities between the two in the midsole, weight and just overall feel. My Rincons felt shot at about 180 miles as outsole wore out and midsole felt dead flat and it’s retired. Last week, I retired the Clifton 6 with about 500+ miles! I’ll be purchasing the Clifton 7 and perhaps the 6 on sale. For now, it’s the Asics Glideride and Clifton 1 for my daily trainers as I await the 7.

QD: RINCON! The most fun shoe I've run in, in years (and I include the Novablast in that). I will buy the 2's as soon as they come out. With the Novablast and the Bondi 6, I've got a reasonable rotation set up. I only ever want to go as long as a half marathon distance so I'm all good.

QD: Ran in the Clifton 6 for most of 2019, ran a half in it. Loved it!!! Bought the Bondi 6 next in early 2020 and it’s my daily go to trainer. Got 300 miles on the pair as of now. Still in good shape. Love the comfort. Yes I think I will buy the Rincon 1 or 2 or maybe both since the 1 is on sale right now 🤠🇺🇸👍

QD: have had multiple pairs of each. Rincon starts to bottom out after 250 miles or so while I can put 5-600 on my clifton 6’s before they’re shot. As far as versatility, while not as light, I have no problems clicking 5 minute miles in my clifton 6 because of the meta rocker and relatively bouncy midsole.

I currently use both the Clifton 6 and Rincon 1. As a 205 lb, 53 yr old newer runner, the Hoka Rincon 1 saved me. 8 months of frustrating knee and calf pain were finally overcome when I switched from using the Cliftons to the Rincons. The way the Rincon absorbs impact is so forgiving and my legs recover easier. I do race in Nike Peg Turbo 2's (5-10K's) as the Rincon's don't work for me above tempo. As for the Clifton 6, this is the best walking shoe ever, and if you are ever in need of a shoe for a long day on your feet choose this shoe.

Rincons (1.0) have been a weird experience for me. The first few runs I really didn't understand the hype...they felt soft but not uniquely cushioned, light but not featherweight, and the upper felt narrow in the toe box. Just "ok".
Then I got around to 50ish miles over the next few weeks and they really started to grow on me. Fast forward another few months and the outsoles are totally chewed up. I'm not sure if this shoe will make it to 250 miles, unfortunately.

Ran in the Clifton 6 and Rincon 1 all last year except for trails. Trails it was Hoka Atr5 and occasionally speedgoats.
I give the edge to the Clifton simply because the Rincons didn’t hold up for me - no way could I get 300 miles out of them before the outsoles were trashed. Even after a first run they would show obvious wear. Maybe it’s my running form others have a different experience. The Clifton also comes in a wide option which I prefer. Thanks for the discussion of the 7. I’ll be grabbing a pair when they’re available for sure. 👍🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️

QD: Picked up the Rincon last year but retired it early because of its narrow last. It was hell for my feet. I very much liked the ride though, but Hokas are just too damn narrow for my forefoot. It's hard to beat the Novablast in versatility for anything but races, and the reason ASICS is generally more available in Europe, and Hoka only online directly from them, but I am tempted to grab a Clifton 7 in 2E.

Received my Rincons 2 today and after 5mins they were in the box again on the way back to Hoka. I was kind of hyped. I love Clifton 6 and I use them as a core of my marathon training. I was looking for an addition for some shorter, faster runs. Straight away I could tell you how sqashed my toes were! They reminded me of Kinvara 11. And I don't even have wide feet. They're bit too narrow though. I figured that I can be as fast as I want in Cliftons. Really - if needs be fast days can be done in Peg Turbos (still too narrow, espec. Peg 2 for me).
After 700km there's still some life in my Cliftons and when the time comes they will be replaced by 7. Runcons - overhyped.

QD: Loved the OG Cliftons. Love the Challenger ATR 5. Clifton 6 was a miss for me. Hate the bucket "seat" component to Hoka's Road shoes because it gives me blisters every single time at ball of foot (Arahi 3, Bondi 6 as well). Tried the Clifton 6 wide and my foot was swimming and I did not find it responsive enough! So no Clifton 7 for me and the Rincon - forget about it for anyone except narrow footed folks.
I LOVE the Novablast, Endorphin Speed, and the Glideride. Even enjoying Adrenaline GTS20, Evoride, Salomon Balance 3, NB 1080v10 and 880v10. Endorphin Shift I'm still evaluating but it's not as good as the Glidride for my feet. Given all the newer shoes from established companies including more room in width and toe box with great new cushion - frankly I don't think Hoka with the narrowness (loved the OG Hoka's and wore them out) holds up unless you have narrow feet. JMHO.

I loved both the Clifton 6 and the Rincon 1. Everyone said the Clifton 7 was virtually the same as the Clifton 6, so I bought a pair, but unfortunately I didn't find that to be the case. The heal counter was a bit uncomfortable and I started forming a blister on the medial side of my arch. Another thing to note with this comparison, Rincon outsoles are really not that durable when compared to the Clifton. I consistently bring Cliftons well over 400 miles before I retire them, but all the Rincons I've owned have felt pretty shot after only 250-350 miles. qod : I bought both from an online reseller. The problem with the Rincon is (as other responders have mentioned as well) it is quite narrow in the upper, especially around the midfoot. The Rincon has a paper thin inlay sole, and since i use customized inlay soles there is no room left for my feet. I could feel the quality of the shoe but i was really gutted that i could not use it more than once. Luckily i could return the shoe. I am loving the Clifton 6 though for my easy days, will pick up a second (and maybe third) pair now the price is dropping.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner! I have the good fortune of having a great local running shoe/apparel/supplement store that has a running club which meets on Saturdays! The big bonus is each week they feature a tester shoe which you can run in with no obligation to buy. Today's model? The Hoka Rincon 2 :-) I immediately liked how they felt when I put them on. I already have the Clifton 7, love 'em. Took the Rincon 2's out for a 5 miles test drive. Woohoo! This is a fun, fast, and comfortable shoe. Hoka may become my only brand eventually. I love Skechers but running stores don't carry them and there own retail outlets have no selection or poor outdated ones!! Go figure! This means you have to buy them online without feeling them in person. I hope my Club will get a chance to test drive the Hoka Mach 4's soon.

Just bought a second pair of the Rincon 1. I realized there isn't much difference between the first and the second generation and first was on sale. The reason i decided to buy the rincon and not the clifton is that versatility you talked about since i only have one pair i'm running in.

QD: i have both clifton 6 and rincon 1 and are both amazing! Cliftons for long and easy runs and Rincons for tempo and threshold runs. I also alternate them with other brands to have more ground contact feeling.

Just got into running and will only be running on roads. I’m thinking of getting the Rincon 2’s over the Clifeton. I’m sure they’ll be like night and day compared to my £35 Kamora’s

Picked up the rincon on aug 1st, ran in them more than expected through August and was hooked... durability is my only concern, outsole is starting to look a little shredded after only 170 miles. Decided to pick up some Clifton 7s at the start of September to add to the rotation and I’m enjoying them as well. Totally agree that the rincon are more versatile, I was reaching for them for many different runs. Think i will enjoy the Clifton as a daily trainer/ long run shoe.
Watched this video a while back to decide which of the two to get and ended up buying both. Hoka should give you a commission 😀

The Rincon is the best daily Trainor I've ever used, it feels like a lightweight clifton 6. No shoe is perfect for everyone but cliftons feel too soft for me. The rincon outsole will show some wear quickly but who cares, I still get about 300-350 miles per pair. I'm on my third pair now and the price is right!

QD: I actually bought both a couple months ago as my first real running shoes because my legs felt tired and sore. I’m using the Clifton 6 as the daily trainer an the rincon as a planned race and PR shoe. Maybe they overlap too much but I’m enjoying them

I picked up the Clifton 6’s in January and I usually try to get a lot of versatility out of my shoes, but I’ve definitely not felt that with the Cliftons. I’d love to try the Rincon (1 or 2) this year.

I had both shoes last year and loved them each! I used the Rincon for faster stuff, like tempos, threshold runs, etc., and if I ran in my Clifton 6's the day before. The Clifton 6's were more of my go-to, but I think that is only because I bought them first. I would go with the Rincon of looking for a new pair. Rincon 2 might be even better if you can wait.

I bought the Clifton 6 and at 1st it was the best running shoe ever but after a couple of weeks I started to get shin splints and noticed I was landing on the outside kinda like supination. I have bad knees and my weight is 225 lb 6 ft tall. I Love Hoka and want to stay with them but need good cushion but firm and some what of a supination to fix the problem.

QD: I got the rincon 1 and was really excited, but if I’m honest it didn’t quite hit the mark with me! I had just ran through my first pair of beacons and I think that was a hard show to follow. I also picked up runners knee while in the rincons so maybe subliminally I associate that pain with them. Have always wanted a pair of new Cliftons! I love soft mid soles... no idea why I’ve never bought a Clifton???... I do have a question! Which would you say was more soft and squishy - the Clifton 7, the ASICS Novablast, or the Skechers Maxroad 4?? Would love to know your opinion on that. Many thanks

Have the Clifton 6 in wide, but not yet a fan. Only a few runs and about 10 miles so far but there has been some pain under foot near the big toe. Will keep trying these but I'm enjoying some of the New Balance and Altra shoes so much, not sure how I'll work in the Cliftons.

Nike supposedly got into the heel flare because Mo Farah has achilles issues and would modify his shoes to apply less pressure to his ankles and so for the Peg 35 they added the flare to reduce achilles irritation.

QD: I have both, the Clifton 6 and the Rincon 1. Durability for the Clifton is very good on my pair. I have 950km on them and they are still working very well! I had the Clifton 5 and i got about 1300km out of them! So I think the Clifton 6/7 will also be on this range...
The Rincon doesn't hold up for a long time (I think max 500km...), I'm already seeing some wear at 150km.
I like Hokas for my easy runs and long runs - and therefore i prefer the Clifton lineup over the Rincon. I like the longevity of the Cliftons!

Hi Sir...I have the Clifton 6 and todate I still believe it's marshmallowest and softest ever! I do look forward to the 7. But yes, for daily training and baby-ing the legs the Cliftons will be it. This in mind, I appreciate the Bondi's for long runs for the protection it gives due to the stack height. BUT, with your thoughts on Rincon, if I had the budget, I will also get one pair as well! Best regards!

QD: After about 275 miles in the Rincon it’s finally starting to break down and doesn’t feel as “springy” That said it’s one hell of a shoe, a tad narrow at first but the upper is able to accommodate over time. Looking forward to my next pair 💯🤘

My beloved Rincon 1 went flat after 100 miles. It feels as if the midsole lost both the absorption and the return abilities. I'm a 65kg runner, 190 steps per minute. Used the Rincon just for those 10mile runs, at medium speeds. Up to this point, they were amazing. My previous shoe for those types of runs, were the Nike Turbo. They held a respectable 450 miles. From my wife's experience, the clifton 6 are good for these distances as well (450 miles. She just bought her 3rd pair. Same stats as mine, though somewhat lower speeds). I also use the NB fuelcell rebel as my tempo shoes. They are way less forgiving than the Rincon, though feel faster and more 'sporty'. Unexpectedly, I'm afraid that the Rincon will be now replaced with the saucony endorphin speed.

QD: Have both the Rincon 1 and Clifton 6... I like the Atreyu stinger for daily miles, LR, some tempo work now that the Hokas are about retired. Atreyu less expensive, better ground contact, super midsole and upper. Durability an issue but that fits into the subscription dealio.

QD: I used the Ricon 1 and absolutely loved the shoe up until about 140 miles. After that the shoe seemed to wear exponentially. I’m on the fence if I am going to get a second pair because I loved the shoe but don’t want to have to get a new pair every month or so. If I could get 4+ months out of them then they would be my go to every time.

Q.D i had the Clifton 5 i found the midsole just too marshmallow and soft for me, i did a lot of training millage in the shoes a few races (approximately 400 miles) and would say are a good, go to shoe and can be used for all round comfortable Trainer.
I would like to say the Torrrent mk1 i am a big fan of this shoe, it is my prefered choice in the Hoka trail line, due to its versitility and weight, i have used it for 50K 100k and 100 mile races of varing terrain and training. Looking forward to getting a pair of th mk2 as it looks like they have made it more durable ☺
