aba bab that’s a very interesting point. Do you know of any books I can purchase on this subject? Preferably, the newest editions, since older ones lack the symbols of status and affluence I desperately crave in life.
Same here. I was going to buy Clifton 6s once the 7s came out but size nines disappeared in minutes. So I bought these Rincon 2's this morning. I'm sure I will like them. The Rincon 1s would have been $10 cheaper but I jumped for the wider toe box. I won't sweat $10. I'll probably spring for a second pair if I like them after 30-40 miles.
Gotta be honest: I placed my order immediately after getting BLOWN AWAY by your intro music... Then I sat down and listened to what you have to say about the show... Now I am waiting for my new pair to arrive!
To people complaining about the durability of this shoe: in the genius words of Mountain bike innovator Keith Bontrager, 'cheap, light, strong, pick 2'. The rincon is the first 2. Also the outsole wear is mainly cosmetic, as long as the shoe still have bounce to it, it's fine. It lasts around 250 to 350km for me.
Interesting point of view, I haven't tried them before but they are going really cheap online so I bought a pair today and will try them out. This review helped in that decision.
These are my first Hoka’s and had my first run in them on Tuesday and man, I fell in love. My shoe prior to these was the Karhu Ikoni Ortix and that was a fantastic shoe, but something about these Rincon’s upped the running experience for me. I only ran 4 miles in them, but it was the first time I’d ever run a negative split. It was a route we’ve ran before and it’s a bit of a hilly route, but I just felt really good running in them. My legs didn’t get tired or feel tight and I just felt like I was flying. So happy with these and can’t wait to put more miles on!
Early morning video reminds me the days you were in Chicago, it is strange (or funny) that I miss one peticular city so much even I've never been to before.
Just picked up the Rincon 2 the other day. Your comments are SPOT ON. The only thing that kept me from enjoying the Rincon 1 more was the toe box. It was just ever so slightly too narrow to really feel comfortable. But they nailed it on the Rincon 2. Small improvement, but exactly what I needed for this shoe. Looking forward to some fun and fast miles with these things!
The only thing I feel like needs to be improved with the Rincon 1 is giving it a wider toe box. Glad to hear that they've made that adjustment to the shoe as I've been enjoying the performance of my Rincon's up to this point.
My rincon 1 just hit 400 miles. Fast and light. Hope to get 50-100 miles more. Just received my rincon 2 in Indigo Blue and Tofu colors. I thought I would never say this about Hoka shoes but these Hoka colors look sweet. I may just display them and not wear them lol! Looking forward to bigger toe box. R1 toe box was narrow. Good review.
Loved the Rincon 1. Did a lot of training in it and it served its purpose but the midsole bottom out for me little over 100 miles. I loved it enough not to be upset it didn’t last that long. 😀 I see Hoka upping its game on the colorways and it’s most welcoming. Recently picked up too many shoes so the Rincon 2 will have to wait.
Thanks for another thorough review! Great to hear it is a slightly wider. I tried 11.5 for my first pair and just a touch snug, but ok for up to HM. I went a half size up and used for the marathon, but the fit is just a little longer than I would prefer. Look forward to trying Rincon 2 in 11.5.
Picked this up a couple weeks ago, and it was my first pair of Hoka. Re-watched Kofuzi’s videos on Clifton 6 and Rincon 1 at least five to six times before deciding on the Rincon 2. The midsole feels firmer than expected but otherwise it’s a great pair of shoes. I am so in love with them. And yes, the toe box definitely feels spacious even when I am wearing thick socks. But unlike most people, I’ve been using it mostly for long easy runs, haha. I am a relatively lighter runner so hoping to get a longer life out of them.
I wasn't able to run in last years because it was too narrow. I fit fine in the hyperion tempo and endorphin speed, how would you compare the fit and width of the rincon2 vs those since I know you've run in both. I'm looking to add another tempo shoe and am debating between the rincon 2 and razor 3. I do have a slightly wide foot however I don't ever buy 4E.
Interesting - if the upper is a bit wider I wonder if I could go to the normal 9.5 for me. I had a lot of issues with the 1 in the 9.5 that went away if I upsized to a 10 - I will have to try on both when I look to get a new pair
Luis Ribeiro I bought a long sleeve Hoka shirt and love it. The material is so soft, it’s really breathable so I was able to wear it even in warm weather and not have to put on sunscreen.
Lots of responses say Rincon is firmer than Clifton. IIRC Rincon1 have paper thin insoles. What if it is switched to a Clifton6 like ortho-insoles, will it add a lil plush? 🤔
I loved the RIncon 1 it was my training shoe last year so I didn’t wear through my Vaporflys but kept getting blisters in one spot... if it wasn’t for that I would have pretty much used them daily so maybe the new upper would help
Gareth Dix I’m curious where you got a blister. I got one on the side of the inner (medial...big toe) metatarsal on both feet. I have medium width feet but if anything on the narrow side; no bunions or anything like that at all. It wasn’t bad enough that I felt it but one day I just noticed them. Maybe it was more of a callous and must have had to do with the narrowness of the shoe. My other disappointment was that the midsoles started to feel flat after only 150 miles, and I’m very light (101 lbs!). Martha
re"Vamped" lol. i've been debating trying this shoe since Nike is lacking on 2020. got too many shoes right now though, thats my problem. seems like this would be a good option for a faster daily run trainer??
Rincon 2 vs. Ride 13? Wore both Rincon 1 and Ride ISO 2. Between those two shoes, I really enjoyed Rincon 1 (over Ride ISO 2, as a daily trainer). Should I stick with Rincon 2 or would I be surprised with Ride 13. You and others that reviewed Ride 13 on TH-cam have praised so much of Ride 13 that I am considering it. I have Endorphin Speed which I love as my fast shoes. So, maybe consider Ride 13 as a daily trainer? Too many great options in 2020. Good problem, I guess.
Mine felt like they went flat a 150 mi and I’m a 101 lb female. I was disappointed with that. I could have kept running in them for a lot longer but I ended up giving them to the gal I’m teaching English to-she wears my size and was happy to have them as a casual shoe.
Hello. Could you plz suggest which a better shoe in terms of very soft midsole. Very high cushioning. Between. Pegasus Turbo 2 Beacon 3 1080v10 Rincon 2
My daily trainer Clifton6-wide is about nearing its end of life at 860km. I wonder if Rincon2 a good candidate replacement for me, seeing lots of comments that Rincon1 didnt last 200miles. Im 60kg, a midfoot striker, and i do ~45km weekly and i dont run like scraping the shoe outsole to the ground 🤔
I’m about the same weight. Issue is the Rincon EVA foam midsole goes flat (loses cushioning) before 200 miles. If I were you I’d stick with Clifton’s if you have choose one shoe. I’ve had 2 Rincons and 6 Cliftons with consistent results. There is a definite problem with Rincon for many runners.
What keeps me from pulling the trigger on these is its life. How many miles do you think it can go holding that awesome sensation? Can it go at least 350 miles with the same feels?

Therefore, I’ll have to seriously consider these. At 5’5, 145 lbs, and on sidewalk and paved trails, I’m sure I can get a good 250 miles out of them (maybe?). Then retire them as an all-around walking shoe.
I've picked up two Rincons and put many miles in them, but in both cases I feel like the rubber really deflates after about 200 miles and loses a lot of cushion. Have you experienced the same?

yup. the clifton 6 is delivering to you exactly what hoka intended it to. the rincon 2 delivers exactly what you think the clifton 6 should be delivering.
Cant decide to get this or clifton 7. Both are on sale clifton at $65 and rincon 2 at $60. I want a soft shoe coz my knees is sometimes killing me but i want to go fast as well hehehee
I would lean towards the Clifton, as it will be kinder to your knees and the Clifton can pick up the pace at times. But, if your runs aren't longer than 10 miles or so, I can see using this as a daily trainer
My Rincon 1’s started to feel flat at around 150 mi. A number of people seem to have felt this way, judging from comments I’ve seen off and on. I could have worn them a lot longer but I decided to donate them instead to a friend.
While I absolutely loved my Rincon 1's, I will not be purchasing the new Rincons. They did not change the out-sole, which is the weak spot on this shoe. I only got 185 miles out of my first pair. At $115 that's is too much money for a shoe with such low mileage.
@@kofuzi yeah, I guess so. Any chance you'll take it to 200miles or more? Because the midsole in Rincon 1 felt degrading quickly after about 160-200miles.
Why cant shoe companies gives us data something like mpg? So instead of giving us mile per gallon, they can provide an estimate of how many miles the shoe will last. I understand different pace, weight, style could make the estimate looks silly. That being said, people drives differently, traffic is different, load is different, so if car manufacturers can show us mpg, I do not see why hoka nike etc cannot. Better yet, give us rpm. That's so true

Doesn't get enough credit for the music range
Man these are so cool looking. I honestly did not like my Clifton 6 at all but you're really making me wanna try out both the C7 and Rincon 2
Would love to see a comparison of this to the beacon v3! Especially with the praise you gave the beacon v2

Great review as always. I love the Rincon I used them for my long runs and they work so good I made sure and I purchase extras I love them so much.
Great review, I like the Hoka top by the way too.
I love my Rincon 1’s. I just bought my wife a pair two days ago. I may have to grab a pair of these now.

The heel tab on my rincons seems pretty useless... anyone else? I feel like it’s too low to do anything.
Yeah - too low, and too tight, can't get enough fingers in to make use of it.
Jamison Michael might disagree...=P
How does the width of the toe box compare to the Clifton?
I know you were in Chicago for a while... are you now in Iowa full time? Love the country side! Also, could you do a running accessory vid?
Yup even better for this one!

Rincon1 n 2 almost identical but if u have a daily trainer shoes. 1st rincon is good choice for rotation.
I haven't seen this colour scheme in person, is it yellow or some kind of green? Lime? Thanks
Are you ever going to review the Nike Alphafly?
Hola Kofuzi un abrazo donde puedo comprarme la camiseta hoka azul que llevas en el video
Almost feels like I should have gone with the Ricoh instead of Clifton 7- thanks for review
what were the pants you were wearing in the second running shot (behind the heel)? thank you!
Hey i was wondering if you are going to try out the hoka one one clifton edge, planning on buying the edge or the clifton 7 and wanted some opinions.
Much softer feel than the Adidas Boston?
Do you think this could be a good marathon race day shoe?
Make them in wide HOKA!
Do you think it’s a good shoe for 3-6 miles or would the Clifton 7 be better?
👍.... Specially combination of colours 💪💪
How is the size fit? Do they run big or small or is there another brand they fit similar to?
Yeah , this shoe seems very interesting since it is so big but still , very lightweight.
What about the durability of the sole?
Great shoe, I love the Rincon 1, they don’t last long though for a 200lbs guy.
How many miles/kilometer did you run on them ?
I have about 150 miles in them and they look really rough.

Except that they don't have the original red/grey anymore, which I love a lot. Also see Jamison Michael got two pairs.
