- I found an old video of a young Southern Pacific Rattlesnake (Crotalus oreganus helleri) in San Diego County strikes at us while we were setting up the camera. Fortunately, we were a safe distance away!
This is a good reminder to always take precautions. Never let your guard down or get too comfortable around these snakes!
Lightening quick! Nice looking SoPac.
Great video man!!! Thanks for sharing. I love the SoPacs.
Thanks! They are nice snakes!
Those SoPacs pack a punch, remind me of the viridis in CO. You're making me want to go flip something, but it's going to be 29 overnight here in AZ. 🥶
Haha... i'd take 29F any day. Its -30 celsius here in Canada right now. We are a long ways off from flipping stuff up here!
@@herpingbc 😮 Dang son. That.is.cold. I don't want to rub it in, but we're headed back up to the 60's low 70's later in the week. I think I'm getting used to this warm stuff. Catch me in June when it's 115.
Excellent video!! This really shows how they can strike at least half their body length! I have only been struck at once, but it was so fast that I could not tell if the snake even opened its mouth! I assume they do every time?
Ya we haven't seen one strike with a closed mouth, but it's crazy fast. There's no avoiding it if you're in the strike zone.
He returns!
Haha yup! Both my brother and I have new babies at home. Not a lot of time to edit with work and daddy duty! But rest assured we have more on the way. And some plans for 2022!
Excelent vídeo of Herping
Thank you for watching!
