  • We finally had the chance to go looking for snakes together! And with a little help, we set out to find all 6 snake species that call the Northern Okanagan home! Our targets were the Northern Pacific Rattlesnake, Great Basin Gopher Snake, Northern Rubber Boa, Yellow Bellied Racer, Western Terrestrial Garter Snake, and the Common (Valley) Garter Snake. As usual, we found a lot of snakes, but we also came across a number of other strange and wonderful animals! Check out part 1 here!
Why do we do it? We love reptiles and amphibians and spreading awareness for these amazing, but often misrepresented, creatures that few people know much about!

Great video! I like birds too! I thought that sounded like a Lazuli Bunting before you showed it! We have them up here at Williams Lake. Beautiful Gophers and Racer! I can’t get enough of them!!

Thanks for watching! Birds and other animals are how we entertain ourselves when we aren't finding snakes! Part 2 is coming out in about 30 minutes if you are interested in seeing more from our trip!

I've always dreamed of finding a gopher snake! I live in Central Alberta so I guess I'm a little bit off their range... Next month we'll be going on a trip to the southern part of the province, and I'm willing to see a gopher and a rattlesnake. Do u guys have any tips?

Slopes that face the south are your best bet. Stuff may be on the move back towards dens by then. Good luck!

    What about the nightsnake

Unfortunately the nightsnake's range is a few hours south of us and we didn't have the time to drive down to get in range. We have video of nightsnakes in some of our San Diego content.

There is 7 the night snake and dont tell me they aren't here because you just arent looking

Not going to argue that they arent in BC. Just that they arent as far north in the Okanagan as we were. Probably at least an hour or two south to get into their range. With both of us having small kids and limited time to get out, they simply weren't a target. Cool snakes though.

@@herpingbc oh i see, i live in the central okanagan, i drive south all the time looking for them and its not easy to find them at all. I always see the other 6 i have my spot where nobody visits and the snakes are everywhere. I cant wait until may thus year to get out. After i made that comment i watched your other videos, i believe you would find it for sure lol. I love what you guys are doing. I save a lot of snakes in the summer off the road so they dont get hit . Keep up the good work
