  • In this, the finale of our Quest To Find All 6 snake species found in the North Okanagan, we search high and low for the "elusive" Common Garter Snake! Along the way we find a lot of snakes, a toad, and even a turtle! In this video you will see Northern Pacific Rattlesnakes, including one with an extremely large rattle, and many other cool species of snakes!

Nice video I enjoyed watching people catch the snakes of where I'm from. You guys missed a rare snake called the night snake

Thanks for watching! Unfortunately we weren't in the range of the Nightsnake, and decided to focus on the 6 species in the northern Okanagan and Thompson-Nicola region. We have caught a few Nightsnakes before (in California). You can see those finds in some of our other videos!

Heck of a detour to find that last one. Oddly enough I never seem to find Valley Garter Snakes in that spot, but I’m not nearly as thorough as you guys are. The place I’ve seen them the most around Kamloops is way up at Lac du Bois so it’s encouraging to see them in the valley bottom. :)
    Enjoyed the series. Subscribing!

We've found some absolute monster Valley Garters in that area in the past. They can get surprisingly large. Definitely a species that is becoming harder to find in some areas, yet thriving in others.

@@herpingbc last year I found a few very large ones while working around Prince George & Quesnel. Your videos have inspired me to try to find all 6 species this year. I’ve found them all here around Kamloops before, but never in the same year.

Best of luck! Rubber Boas have always been the trickiest of the six to find in the Kamloops area. They only seem to show up at certain times of year. Hope you find them all!

@@herpingbc thank you. Only one I saw last year was DOR right at the Tranquille River crossing.

@@herpingbc Well it looks like I got lucky. First snake of the year for me was a rubber boa up on the plateau high above Campbell Creek at the east end of Kamloops. Quite surprised to find one out there. Now I’m really motivated & excited to find all six this season!
