    Class workshope mate is that in your garden. If so do your neighbours ever say anything about noise. Im setting garage as workshop and just gotta put insulation in roof to help more with noise. Nice work

    Hi Ryan,
    Working my way through your videos & they're brilliant mate 👍🏻
    Little question about spraying the wickes silk, how much do you thin?
    Opened it today and it a pretty thick consistency 😮

      Hello!
      That's fantastic! Thank you for watching and the great comment!
      I never think my paint.
      As long as you are using an airless sprayer, you should be able to spray without thinning.
      I've never thinned paint before in the 10 years I've been spraying 😊👍
      Oh just make sure you give the paint a stir and that's it!
      Cheers ryan

    Love your videos mate. Just on the farrow and ball paints, we use the 6 year exterior eggshell instead of estate eggshell (interior), we can work on it within the hour and can be wrapped up for delivery the next day. Keep up the good work mate. 👍

    Farrow and ball egg shell really just doesn’t cure!! Get brewers to mix it with Johnston’s as your base and it drys within hours and costs less

    • @thelondoncraftsmanworkshop
      @thelondoncraftsmanworkshop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We nearly all the time buy johnstones but every now and then the customer want the real thing. They believe they can tell the difference between original and mixed farrow and ball colours.
      Im with you though on this one!!

    Are you gluing strips onto mdf to make your shaker doors? I find it quicker to use cope and stick construction plus I can charge more for them

    Hi thanks for the vid. Trying my hand at spraying eggshell and just wondered what airless tip size you use for a super smooth finish like shown in your vids? im using a Graco and wondered whether eggshell will go through a 310 tip?

    • @thelondoncraftsmanworkshop
      @thelondoncraftsmanworkshop  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No probs 👍
      Yes I'd use a 310 fine finish tip (green tip).
      These sprayers will handle eggshell with ease.
      There is a difference between hvlp sprayers and airless sprayers in overall finishes.
      Hvlp is absolutely flawless, but airless will have slight texture, still very very good and flat enough but just wanted to make you aware 😁

    Awesome job as always. Do you apply a top coat of clear lacquer for durability or do you find the eggshell/satin finishes strong enough on there own?

    Hello, love the videos. 2 Quick question, would a gas heater be ok to dry paint. I have a big one, save buying a different kind. And on another video you recommended buying a router bit to take off the edge. I bought one, do you take the edge of everything, even the internal joints on draws etc?

    • @thelondoncraftsmanworkshop
      @thelondoncraftsmanworkshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Morning! Thank you!!!
      Yes I'm sure gas would be fine if not better.
      Yes all joints with that round over cutter, it just gives a better finish on all junctions. The only place I don't use it is where you can see it 👍

    • @thelondoncraftsmanworkshop
      @thelondoncraftsmanworkshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    My experience of using F & B paint is that it doesn't like going over any other primers

    • @thelondoncraftsmanworkshop
      @thelondoncraftsmanworkshop  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Really! I generally don't have this problem, I think its the high pigment in the dark paint that stops it curing. Well thats part of the problem at least. Everytime I've had this problem its a dark colour

      @marcuschambers62 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thelondoncraftsmanworkshop fair enough, I have just found thats it the only system that seems fussy going over primers like otex and coverstain. My go to system is tikkurila helmi but I roll and tip.

    • @thelondoncraftsmanworkshop
      @thelondoncraftsmanworkshop  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Steven, that is what most small companies or diyers would do, or even a bigger company whose customer wanted a hand painted finish (brush marks etc).
      Its a bit more tricky that there is cutting in to do around hinges and hanging rails and also all the corners but its all doable.
      You could always lay out all your pieces on trestles and paint them with a roller. I used to do this before my airless sprayer and used to apply the paint with a 12" rag roller, then smooth it out with a 12" gloss roller ( onve id applied the paint liberally over the piece, this gave it a smoother finish)

    I feel your pressure!. You guys deserve a well earned break. Do you ever suffer sagging of the mdf when standing components on end? Or is it never there long enough to worry?

    • @thelondoncraftsmanworkshop
      @thelondoncraftsmanworkshop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Exactly, its never there long enough. Doors we laen face forward so if they do sag /bow a small bit they do the right way. Foe example the doors, its hard to sort the problem if the centre bows towards the carcass but if the centre bows outwards its generally solvable by tweaking the hinges etc .
