  • The final two stage of the Bushrangers Shoot are done and dusted.
    The long range stage is one that values marksmanship under time in a fantastic way, Rowan's Arctic gets put to good use.
    Stay tuned for conclusions and a full rundown of the gear we used!
    All filmed and shot in the Flinders Ranges, South Australia

    Nice to see a bolt action with open sights expertly run.

    Very impressive, I am in Canada and we don't see bolts ran like this. I seem to be the only one locally that does...

    Hey! Love the two clips from this. I Just bought myself a Tikka T3x Arctic. Im a Weapon Tech for the Canadian army and so having the closest thing to a C19 is pretty special for me. Hopefully i can find somewhere up in Canada to do these types of shoots!

      IPSC is run in Canada, according to their website they do rifle matches which are very similar to what you see here. Look them up! Also feel free to contact us on FB especially if you’ve worked on C19’s in service, we love getting firsthand info from those who use the gear.

      I think those were 511 EVO8s..... I've moved away from zipped boots these days. Almost exclusively wear Merrells now

    What was up with the first mag on the Tikka? Seemed to jam every single loading attempt :(

    What brand is that recoil pad for the shoulder?

    • @dsar9489
      @dsar9489  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The name of the brand escapes me, however I bought it in the states whilst I was at Gunsite Academy...... you can find something simmilar at most Full Bore clubs.

      I just bought one made by Caldwell. Not sure if that's what he has. I got it on Amazon and they come in several different thicknesses depending on how much padding you want and what kind of shooting you're doing. The reviews said the very thickest ones were more trouble than they were worth because they were so bulky so I went for one more in the middle. Haven't got to try it yet but a few people recommended it.

      I can assure you it's very much an off the shelf item.... All will be explained in the gear review - Rowan (The skinny one)

    How do you like the sights on the Tikka?

      Love them... They were the very reason I made the effort to get the gun into the country. - Rowan

      Department of Southern Armament Research do you prefer them over the sights on the No. 4?

      As per blokes review... There pretty coarse. Great for fast shooting or figure targets out to 300... It has the accuracy to use the graduations up to 600 and I have shot mine to the full distance. But the front sight really is a bit thick past 300. Id be very interested to try out the generation 2 sights for comparison ....... Rowan

    So... I'd want the pump rifle for the moving CQB type runs, and the bolt action for the static stages.
    Mind you, since the car accident eight years back I'm pretty much limited to clay shooting and target shooting these days. It's a bugger trying to an ACM style match when you need a walking stick!

    • @dsar9489
      @dsar9489  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Doesn't mean you can't give it a go, I did a 2 day IPSC Pistol course a year or so ago with a walking stick due to surgery. Sure I was slow but I still learnt things!
      Also yes, pump gun prone sucks - Dylan

      @@dsar9489 granted, I probably could get through an IPSIC pistol shoot these days, but there is one problem. I live in the UK, haven't shot a handgun over here since they bought all my viable pistols off me in the late '90's. Not really interested in shooting a revolver with a 12" barrel and an 9" "balance" rod sticking out the back! And when it comes to practical rifle and shotgun, I've also got a dodgy ticker, so I kept timing out when I had to stop to get my breath back! So it's just clays and targets at 300-600 yards these days, with the odd 1000 shoot if I can get afford to get up to Bisley.

      Nothing wrong with Bisley, Rowan and I have discussed that and Camp Perry CMP shoots if we can manage it. There is a shooting sport for everyone and they're all great! - Dylan
