Hi Abbey! Love your content 😍 As a biochemist I just wanted to highlight that there is no research supporting that if you add amino acids it will lead to increased translation (protein synthesis) and “repair”. Often amino acids are marketed as such and there is unfortunately no evidence to support that.

    • @imawakemymindisalive13

yeah… i don’t think there’s many enzymes in your hair so i doubt that’s possible

I wish olaplex would come out with an actual leave in conditioner spray and a dry shampoo. However I just purchased the moroccan oil dry shampoo and Its amazing I absolutely love it. Phenomenal oil absorption great volume without any product feel and zero itchy scalp. Im thrilled to have found it.

I don’t deny the effectiveness of olaplex products the only problem I have with their products is the pricing in relation to quantity. The containers should at least be 12 ounces large for the prices they are charging

    • @ooohlaa13

Store them upside down, that will enable you to get the product out of the bottle easier. Olaplex is a high end & highly concentrated so a little goes a very long way, making it well worth the money.

Abbey great video. I was very happy last week when I heard that Olaplex was bringing out a moisturising hair mask. That is a product that I also thought was greatly needed. However after hearing that it is only 100ml. I'm like no, sorry. I need a bigger tub, bottle, pump etc. I will always use no 3 going forward it works great!!!! I'm not committed to a high end hair mask with so little product.

    Beautypedia:
Because of silicone’s unique molecular properties, they are at the same time porous and resistant though not impermeable to air. Think of silicones in a skincare formula like the covering of a tea bag. When you steep the tea bag in water the tea and all of its antioxidant properties are released into the water. Silicones remain on the surface of your skin and the other ingredients it’s mixed with “steep” through. All ingredients must be suspended in some base formula; some of the ingredients remain on the surface, some are absorbed. The intent is for the “actives” to get through. The special molecular structure of silicones (large molecules with wide spaces between each molecule) allows them to form a permeable barrier and also explains why silicones rarely feel heavy or occlusive, although they still offer protection against moisture loss.
Interestingly, silicone has been shown to be helpful for offsetting dryness and flaking from common ingredients such as benzoyl peroxide.
Bottom line: The types of silicones used in cosmetic products are supported by scientific research and are considered safe for consumer use. These types of cosmetic silicones are effective, inert, and versatile ingredients that benefit skin and hair in numerous ways.

Thanks for all the information. I just won Olaplex 4,5 and 8 in a beauty raffle, and received it in the mail today. Now I want to get 0 and 3 so I can use it together. I am brunette, but my hairdresser does heavy blonde foils on me every 8 weeks. My plus I use heat tools, so my hair is quite damaged. I just recently cut three inches off because it was looking so unhealthy. I appreciate your videos about Olaplex because my hairdresser recommended it, but I didn't really understand how to use it all. Thanks. Liked and subscribed.

I'm not sure if you mean all at once, but I use number 1+2 once a month (that would be number 0 for non-trade users), number 3 once a week before shampooing, but I always follow up with a hydrating mask after using number 3 because while it does repair the bonds in the hair, it is quite drying. I just ordered number 8 so I will be swapping my usual hydrating mask for it. Hope this helps :)

Make sure your shampoo is not too stripping. I don't have anything against sulfates but sulfate shampoos make my scalp more itchy. And try using some oil on your scalp before shampoo preferably with mint /neem/tea tree. Hope this helps!

Yeah! I'm using the L'Oreal pro longer shampoo right now, and it has salicylic acid, maybe that helps with itchiness. The frank body scalp scrub helped too. You can look into powder scalp masks or scrubs as well! :)

My bank account is still recovering from my recent purchase of their no 3, 6 and 7. Don't think it will come out in South Africa for a while though so maybe I'm safe😅.
Abbey🔥 Made my hair ash brown today and I'm afraid of the colour fading out quickly. Do you maybe have any recommendation in order to retain the tone for as long as possible? I have the pureology strength cure shampoo and conditioner aswell (not for blonde hair). Will that change the tone of my hair? 😱

Hey Abbey, I just looked up the ingredients for Olaplex No. 8 on the Salon Centric app and website (I have a beauty license) and they are nothing like what you mentioned. There are no animo acids, and most of the oils you mentioned are not in there either. Where did you get your ingredients list reference for this video? This is the list Salon Centric:
Dimethicone, Isohexadecane, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Coco-Caprylate, Phenyl Trimethicone, Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate, Propanediol, Zea Mays (Corn) Oil, Beta-Carotene, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Moringa Oleifera Seed Oil, Punica Granatum Seed Oil, Water (Aqua), Morinda Citrifolia Fruit Powder, Fragrance (Parfum), Hexyl Cinnamal, Eclipta Prostrata Extract, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Limonene, Tocopherol, Citral, Linalool, Melia Azadirachta Leaf Extract, Citronellol, Pseudozyma Epicola/Camellia Sinensis Seed (Green Tea) Oil Ferment Extract Filtrate.
I hope you see this, because I’m concerned and now hesitant about buying the product. The ingredients you listed sounded so much better than the ones I see listed. I haven’t gotten my hands on the product yet the read the ingredients on the bottle, so maybe Salon Centric made a mistake and put a different Olaplex product’s ingredients here instead :(

    • @AbbeyYung
      @AbbeyYung  3 ปีที่แล้ว

You can look up the ingredients on their website! I also confirmed with my product label and they match 😊 seems like what’s posted on that app is a mistake!

I believe that every step higher on the olaplex list contains less of the active bond building ingredient, 1 contains the most, 2 bit less and so on. So i think that nr3 contains more of the active ingredient than nr8, which makes them best when compared :)

I’m excited I just purchased this over the weekend and I have tried every single product in the range from the liquid in the squirt bottle from the bonding treatment the leave in conditioner shampoo and conditioner the oil my oil‘s almost gone by the way but I really fall in love with the I think it’s called virtue healing well I think that’s a pretty good dupe but it might be more expensive but it’s very very nice but I’m really excited to try this mask especially on my bleached hair but I wasn’t the biggest fan of the shampoo and conditioner only because of the smell I just do not like the smell of the shampoo I feel like the conditioner isn’t the same like potency as the shampoo smell but the shampoo and the Leavin definitely have the same smell in it just like I don’t know it’s not it’s not for me but this mask I am going to try it out actually tomorrow night is my hair wash night so I’m really happy and excited to try it out one thing I do wish is that their bottles were a little bit bigger I know they just came out with a larger size shampoo and conditioner but there original original size of everything they come out with I think needs to be at least a little bit bigger but that’s my only complaint I feel like it is a very reputable trustworthy brand But so many other products I love as well I’m just a hair product junkie in general.
    Thank you for the review
