Thanks for this video!! 2011 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3: I just finished replacing my sensor 10 min ago, and this video is what really helped! The only problem I had was fishing out the filter. I used a flat head screwdriver to finally get it out. Auto shop was going to charge $150 to replace bringing my own part, the lowest I found, so it only cost me $37 (Dorman sensor on amazon) doing it myself thanks to this video. I appreciate your help!! Now a subscriber!
I fought with this stupid connector for an hour, watched literally 2 minutes and 30 seconds into your video, walked over and popped it right off. Thank you!
Thank you so much for going through all that trouble and posting this. I spent about 2 hours trying to figure out how to remove that, and I finally gave up and just reconnected the hoses I had removed. I was able to get that gray clip up, but I didn't know you had to then press on that same part (I was trying to squeeze together the two blue plastic pieces, to no avail). You have saved me from removing the entire intake to get to it!
Bro!!!! I had to go through the comments to find this video. All I had to do was push on the side of it. You’re awesome for putting an update for the conector
Even after this great video, it still took me over an hour to get it off! For anybody struggling, try pushing the connector down hard before squeezing. I had to keep wiggling it up and down (not side to side) before I finally got it to release. Thanks for the great video!
Thanks for posting video of the actual clip, I couldn't figure out what type of clip it was. After I watched your video I literally had the sensor out and replaced 5 minutes later.
My goodness. I guess it has been a decade since was a tech, I'm embarrassed I had to look here to figure out how to get that damn thing off. Easy peasy once you remember how that clip works. Thanks!
You sir, are a life-saver. Especially the part where you said if the white clip went flying (my words in this case), it’s fine lol. Thank you for taking the time to go back and do this.
Thanks for the update. I'm not a "mechanic" but I try to do my own stuff. I had the tools except the special socket. So it was $9 and $7 for the filter which was also great to know. GOT THE JOB DONE IN 45 MIN. BTW they told me it was a 4 hour job. Lol what a RIP. Thank you for your video.
This is absolutely the best way to do this job, all you need is the socket, a small elbow swivel and that extension! Of course a simple wretchet or breaker bar. But this is the easiest and most simple way you don’t have to go buy all them fancy tools like on all the others videos.
I have to say that this video helped me finish changing the oil pressure sensor on my 2009 Silverado. The fact that you said listen for the click on the plug did it for me. Then I understood how the plug worked. Now after watching several videos I can change the sensor in maybe 15 minutes 30 tops. Thank you so much. Dan Bell Modesto California.
You have no idea how happy I am you made this follow up video. Thank you. I was extremely frustrated and ready to give several youtubers a come to Jesus meeting
Man I’ve been going threw 3 days of how to disconnect went tree videos & all seem to act like all u do is pull out....I was almost gonna give up & go to a mechanic...I took a nap woke up saw one video that was similar to yours then the next one was this video!!!! Thanks a lot
Thanks for the video, you got way better angles than anyone else. Tip for those with larger hands, I struggled for 3 hours trying to press the release in after getting the safety clip up, it's so tight my hand just couldn't move. I finally got it left handed with my thumb and pointer finger closest to the ground, the angles in that orientation were way better and it only took one try that way and it came off easy
I just want to say thank you for posting this because the picture I took of my connector didn't help me, and there were no similar connectors in sight to practice on. Would've probably broken the connector or spent an hour in an uncomfortable position trying to figure that out.
With the help of the video, changing the sensor wasn't as bad as it appeared. My nephews engine needed to idle for about 4 minutes before the gauge started working. Thanks.
Thank you for mentioning the engine needed to idle before the gauge started working. I just finished changing my sensor and thought I was going to have to take it off again, then read your comment. After idling the gauge worked just like you said. What a relief! Haha
@Thelatemodeltech - thank you for the video. I went ahead and tried the replacement on my 2008 Tahoe LTZ. The engine seems a little more set back than your rig than my Tahoe which required a hood removal. I was able to get the job done. The only hitch I ran into was using the EVERCRAFT brand socket from Napa. As the sensor was loosened the top of the socket didn't have enough clearance to extract the tool and sensor. I chamfered the top of the socket and that made the job successful. Your time in putting these videos is greatly appreciated.
For the next DIYer - suggest that after you install sensor, take note of sensor clip 'nub' position - this will help you orient the sensor harness in the right direction to clip on.
Thank you so much for this. I couldn't figure out how to get that connector off before watching this, and other videos glossed over this part despite it being the most frustrating (for me anyways).
Oh my goodness, thank you so much!! My clip broke off and I kept trying everything to get it off and was about to give up until I watched your video!!!
Thanks so much for this video! I was so frustrated trying to get that clip off I was about to take it to the shop! You probably saved me hundreds! Thanks again dude!

I do my own oil pressure sensor replacement on my 07 Chevy Silverado , I learned to remove and install many years ago lol, is nice to seeing a lot of people getting a clue on how get it done 🤟👍
Window switch also uses a similar connector tab and a long set of needle nose pliers from harbor freight help apply pressure to help depress that tab as well.
Cheers from Australia mate! Excellent video, I struggled with that bloody connector for couple of hours. Found your video and now my neighbors think I'm crazy because I was saying very loudly fan-bloody-tastic followed by oh shit is that all you need to do 😆. Thanks again.

Thank you so much you are the only person shows Video Exactly hou to get that Conector Off tris Your video helped mi very mach to Remuve that Oil ptessure Sensor wire Cop on mi 2011 GMC sierra 👍👍🙏
It's your oil pickup tube Oring that's attached to the pickup tube in the oil pan ! It's rubber so it cracks & shrinks over time causing it to suck air which causes low oil pressure & oil foaming or a oil pressure gauge reading that's erratic . If the oil pressure sensor is going bad it will throw a PO521 code if the sensor is out of voltage spec either too high or too low as well . If your lifters tick on start up when cold or after it's been run then shut down for just a few hours then the lifters click & make noise on start up again it's because the oil that's supposed to stay in the pickup tube is running out of that cracked Oring losing prime or the anti drain back valve is bad in the oil filter or your lifters are either clogged because of not changing oil consistently or using a low grade non synthetic motor oil or they are just plain worn out if left not fixing this internal oil leak at that Oring for long enough . If it's bad enough the lifters will make noise all the time when the engine is hot after the oil gets hot & thins out . GM's engineers really screwed this one up using a Rubber Oring for a seal that's exposed to oil & heat all the time especially since most rubber doesn't like oil as it eats it up & breaks it down & granted I think the Oring that's used is a silicone rubber they still crack & deteriorate ! They should have used a copper style crush washer that crushes down when the tube is put back in & the bolt torqued down almost like what's used on the brake line to the calipers that can take heat & don't leak even under the hundreds of pounds of pressure that brake lines are subject to . These engines are common to have some minor lifter tick so as long as it's not really loud & all of them making noise at once it's normal for some noise .
Just wanted to say thank you Late Model Tech for your three videos. I would have never been able to change the sensor and filter without your videos. Sitting in the engine bay worked, I did break the clip trying to get the connector off, and it took many tries to thread the filter to get it out. Successful job but my hand hurts; it did take me much longer than you but you have a lot more experience. Hopefully you got a little commission from my Amazon order using your links. What would this clip be called if you happened to break it trying to get it off? I lost the grey piece when I took it off and the two black pin thingies broke off.
This video was extremely helpful. You must be half Rubber Band Man or a Yoga pro. Just curious, did you ever try to retrieve the clip or just say to hell with it? Thanks for the trouble you went to in order to make this video.
