Time for an epic Queen of Hearts/Frida Kahlo portrait! I have been wanting to do this concept for a very long time, but wasn't sure about how I wanted the composition to look. I think it ended up being a very cool painting, but a challenging one. Things tend to go less smoothly when I don't have a solid concept sketch established. However, I think it happened the way that it was supposed to because the outcome was better than I had anticipated.
This is an all-acrylic painting at the moment. I haven't decided if I'm going to finish it with oils or not. I kind of want to, but I'm on the fence. We shall see...

Love that you showed how you restarted,repainted and redid areas several times. A lot of times I just give up and trash the idea and painting . Don’t keep going. Love your work .

This piece is gorgeous!!!! I paint in acrylics (too scared for oils). The only way I can make them look right IS with layering. Plus I like chunkier canvases, rather than flat ones. One of my most commented on paintings had to turn into a palette knife experiment because that's what it wanted.

Just from the thumbnail I can already say...I like it.. I love the series idear...looks great, to me. I like that you choose to experiment...Thankfully you decided to do it. I think sometimes you are just a bit hard to yourself. I do understand that your artist ey is different. Did I mentionrd already I like your hair cut, it fits you sooo well. Trust your guts and trust your process...something told you do do so.
