  • The machine shown in this video is Dwight - our 2018 Polaris Sportsman ACE 570, but the fix is universal to pretty much every Polaris side by side and ATV out there! No more purchasing a complete new differential and yoke to fix this play. Just a couple holes and set screws, and you're off to the races!
Here's the links to the parts I picked up at Harbor Freight:

you could also tap the roll pin holes and use set screws to hold to the shaft

I was worried that the spines could strip out without some sort of bolt or pin going all the way through the differential input shaft. Maybe I'm being too paranoid, but that was my thought process! We'll see how this holds up. So far so good!

I put in a 5/16 " bolt and tight it up and the yoke will not move.

The bolt didn't help. It still moved in one direction, but not the other. The set screws fixed that part though! I do run bolts instead of the spring pin in most of my machines now. It seems to keep a tighter grip overall. I think once the damage is done to the splines, there's nothing else that can be done to fix it. Of course, you don't know that it's happening until it's too late!

Thanks! I'm hopeful it lasts for a while. We'll find out soon enough! The kids are rough on these machines, and we have some pretty big trips in the works for this year!

Does the Ace not use a roll pin vs bolt? My understanding is using bolt vs roll pin leads to the exact problem you’re dealing with. Air hammer and the tusk roll pin removal tool and it’s out in seconds. Just a thought. Like your videos.

The ACE originally had a roll pin. That's what was installed when I took it apart due to the play. Same with the other ACE I mentioned. I usually use an air hammer and a long punch to get those out. They do come out pretty easily so I never really had an issue with them. After that roll pin failed, I installed a bolt this time around. We'll see how it does over time. So far so good! I'm glad you like the videos. Thanks for the comment!

Oh man. You haven't seen my welding... Duct tape might be a better choice for me!
