    Thank you so much for making this video. Good to see everything close up. PLEASE NOTE: At 7:58 you mention that the length of the box is indicated in the part
    number. However, the manual says "SKL = NL -/- 10". In other words: subtract 10mm from the Nominal Length (NL), which is indeed indicated in the part number.

      Do you actually need to substract 10 from your drawer length (measured from outside to outside corner)? Meaning for a 760H3500T you need a box with outer length 340mm ?

    Thank you for this after 10s of thousands of dollars spent. Telling the contractor I need blum movento for tip on without hardware for our kitchen design. I end up getting Kratemade cabinets with 20" boxes rear mounted with tandem slides. Now we have a kitchen with no way to open our drawers. This video laid it all out for me and I fully understand how i got screwed in our kitchen. The contractor was just too stupid to understand what we wanted. We also got face framed cabinets when i said I wanted none. We also cant install push to open up the uppers because of the face frame without ugly blocking.

    Great explanation of the tip-on, you did so much better than what Blum did.
    Edit: First time I watched this was about 1 in the morning and I thought "Good video, I like the cat." Second time I watched it (because I am planning out the BLum hardware), I thought "I just got a 600 level education on Blum Movento slides. Still like the cat."

    I have to install the Movento 760h, nominal length 550.
    I have made a mockup drawer to test the measurements using the information provided in this video, so the total length, from the front of the front piece to the back of the back piece exactly 550 millimetres.
    I’m using 15mm thick stock.
    I tried one slider on the drawer, and the “back lip”, the one that have to engage in the hole drilled in the back of the drawer engages maybe one millimetre in, with 8millimeters outside.
    So the drawer could have been at least 8mm longer.

    7:30 I would say, the length must be 723 because of the rear rests. Never mentioned in any tutorial ist the fact, that these rear rests are different for left and right. I can't say why. And i don't know why these metal pins going into these two index holes are not even; on the left side it's just 4.5mm in width, on the right side 6mm for the recommended drill hole of that size. I suppose that the left hole should be drilled 4.5mm. Could you please explain? Cheers

    • @WoodworkersHardware
      @WoodworkersHardware  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello, the location of these holes should be aligned the same for the left vs. the right. You’ll notice that the pin on the left slide is oriented vertically to allow left-right adjustment from the wheel on the right. Both holes should be done with a 6mm bit. If you have further questions pertaining to these slides, please reach out to our great customer service team at 800-383-0130, Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm central time. - Woodworker's Hardware

    CANADIANS your box length will not be the part number as mentioned in the video. Do not find this out the hard way. Canadian and European parts are different from the US parts for whatever frustrating reason. Use the number in the part number and subtract 10. Otherwise your drawer will stick out 10mm.

    This is a very clear and helpful video, but I am left with a question regarding determining the width of the drawer box. If you have a cabinet door hinge that impedes on the opening, shouldn't that also be subtracted from the opening width?

    • @larrykoob507

      I am going to stick my neck out a little. The drawer front (face) is separate from the sub-front. Once installed the drawer front is located by calculating overlay and fastening to the sub-front. How am I doing?

    • @dclowd9901
      @dclowd9901 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@larrykoob507 thanks for your reply, but I’m trying to draft the cabinets in cad before building them (so I can get a parts list).
      It turns out, though, I just got the runners today. If you wanted to mount from the top set of holes on the cabinet rail, they are about 9mm (on center) above the top of the drawer rail. With my 32mm cabinet setup (which has the face top and bottom edges placed 1/2 way between system holes) , this meant that I needed to place the drawer bottom about 25mm from the bottom of the drawer face. Of course the movento slides do allow adjustment so you have a little play there.
      The specific measurement for drawers and faces will vary with how you have your system holes laid out and how much recess you’ve given the drawer bottom, but the important measurement is the 9mm from the mounting point to the drawer rail top. With that measurement you should be able to determine placement.

    • @larrykoob507
      @larrykoob507 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good! I did misunderstand your question but it looks like you’ve got it figured out. I wouldn’t know anything about putting this information into CAD.

    Thank you so much for a very concise instruction! I'm in between two drawer runner lengths. The longer wont fit in my cabinet, and the smaller wont allow for a big enough drawer box. Would I be able to mount a block/spacer between the front of the drawer box and the front locking device and thus extend the drawer depth by the size of that spacer?

    • @dclowd9901
      @dclowd9901 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd think you could do that, but you'll have to remember to compensate/offset the cabinet rail placement by an equal amount. Only other concern is if the drawer is supporting heavy things, you're putting a lot of strain where the runner wasn't designed for it.

    This was a very well done and helpful video. I have 2 questions. First, I plan to use the bottom mount option "769R5330M" for a waste bin. Are the bottom mount style slides compatible with the standard movento tip on parts? Additionally, would you recommend going with the 44 to 88 lb tip on or the stronger 88 to155 lb tip on? I doubt the weight of the contents will ever exceed 88 lb but I wonder if the extra "gusto" will be better for waste bins. Thanks again!

    Hi, when discussing the box lenght you don't mention the thickness of the front piece.
    What's more confusing is that in the blum installation manual all the boxes have a notch also on the front and the front locking devices are shown attached to the front panel.

    • @s70cas7ic0
      @s70cas7ic0 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What I mean is, shouldn't the nominal lenght of the runners be the measurement from the back of the subfront (the surface where the front locking devices are attacked to) to the back of the drawer to account for different front and back thickness?

The problem I have is that when I try to close the drawer, I really have to slam it shut. If I do it gently the drawer will bounce back. There seems to be too much tension somewhere. The problem seems to be with the trigger that is to tough somehow. Do you recognize this problem and know how to solve it? Greetings, Joost de Vries

    I tried using the movento tip-on slides. It says length is 22”/550mm.
    I built my drawer sides 22” long as per the slides. And went to install them and the sub-front is sticking way out the front of cabinet!
    Also my cabinet isn’t deep enough to just move the slides back! So I now have 3 box-joint drawers that are garbage. How can I prevent this in the future? Why does it say 22”/550mm when a 22” drawer is way too deep?
    For an overlay application by the way. I did the 3mm set back and adjusted the rollers and my drawer still sticks out the front of the carcass about an inch

    I finally got it.
    as per the instrucions if you are making the drawers in the way showed in this wideo, with the clip attache to the drawer and not to the front panel (the one where you attach the handles) the total lenght of the drawer should be Nominal_Lenght+Front-Piece-Thickness-10mm. (Or NL-10mm but measuring from the surface where the loching devices are attached to the back of the drawer)
    Also, I had to inset the slider 2mm+Front-Piece-Thickness to have the drawer 2-3 mm outside the carcass, space needed for the tip-on to function once you have the front panel attached to the drawer..
    I don't understand why someone would take the time to make a video like this and the not giving the right informations.

    Sir, I like your videos. I’m looking to purchase a number of these movento slides, however they don’t seem to be available on your website. What am I missing?

      Blum is currently light on supply, so we're having a hard time getting them. I suspect many other distributors are having the same issues. As soon as supply is available, you can be sure we'll have them for sale.

    Does anyone know the correct setback for Blum 760H500 runners, with a 5/8” thick sub front, 3/4” front, inset. I’m completely lost on this one 🤦‍♂️

    Well, finally Blum has made a drawer system (movento) so complicated and precise that it would confuse a rocket scientist. Good luck to all the cabinet makers out there in the real world attempting to bid a job that specifies this monster. No thanks!

    • @dclowd9901

      Most large scale cabinet makers have automated milling, so the kind of stuff you see with this hardware goes into a configuration sheet once and is used without issue 1000s of times.

      They really arent that difficult to install - but if you dont work with CAD i can see why the positioning options might seem intimidating at first.

    there is an apparent error in this video. when you are setting the depth with the jig be sure that the 5/8 notation on the jig is facing you so that you can read it when setting the depth if your drawer thickness is 5/8 and make sure the 1/2 setting is facing you if your drawer thickness is 1/2"

    This might be the dumbest question ever... but do I have to use the tip on feature with movento slides? I have a project with 3 drawers that are meant to have handles, and it would be easiest for me to use what I already have (movento) rather than going out to get tandem slides so I am hoping I can just use them as I would tandem?

      Hmm, I am wondering if you have the wrong locking devices. You might have the Tandem devices and not the Movento.

    A well presented video, thanks. However, I think your explanation concerning the length of the drawer box is wrong. Blum's instructions are complicated but as far as I can see the outside length of the draw box must be the nominal length of the slide (as provided by the part no) -10mm to account for the pin at the rear of the slide, plus the thickness of the material at the front of the box, which the locking devices are attached to.
    Or, am I confused? I hope I'm not because I am about to go out to the workshop to cut the components of my boxes.

      Every full time cabinet maker I've spoken to does it the way we describe in the video. Even if it were wrong, it still works.

      @@WoodworkersHardware Hi, I think I have found the answer to this difference of opinion. The runners made and sold in the US are different to those available in the UK. The instructions for measuring and fitting are also different. I should have realised something was wrong on seeing the size B763H4570S because this runner is not available in the UK. Our nearest equivalent is 760H4500S.

    • @paulcracknell5992
      @paulcracknell5992 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@WoodworkersHardware Clearly the US system is much better and easier to understand. It make sense because the locking device locates/attaches to the back of the front drawer panel and the back of the slide attaches to the back of the rear drawer panel. Providing the same thickness panels are used for both the whole thing must work perfectly. I cannot imagine why the same system cannot be adopted for Blum slides sold in Europe.

      Hi Paul, I am the one that made the video. I am not familiar with the 760H4500s but for all of the products in our inventory the drawer box length is shown in millimeters in the part number. For example a 763H4570S the drawer box lenght is exactly 457mm or 18inches. It would be my assumtion that the drawer box length for the part number you are giving is 450mm

    I'm actually a little disappointed as nobody highlights that with the tip-on device you loose the soft close feature!! This is not what Blum is advertising with the tip-on. It's not evident straight away. I would have thought that the soft close stays but instead you need to knock it in. It's crap.

    • @dclowd9901
      @dclowd9901 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is very good to know. They actually advertise the rails as Tip-On Blumotion, which would seem to imply they work harmoniously. I may just return the Blumotion components if they serve no purpose.

    • @attilagal6672
      @attilagal6672 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dclowd9901 I've actually managed to get some decent soft close feature back. Initially I bought the L2 strength tip-on device and it was too strong for my draws which I didn't know to start with. So, it really depends on the weight of the draws to he honest. I would say it needs to be perfectly engineered in order to enjoy a smooth opening and soft close together. Hence their ready made kitchen drawers are very nice. I made my drawers myself so it took me a lot of adjusting but in the end I am pleased with them. It's a great bit of kit.
      I suggest you to give it a try at least see if it works for you and if you like them. The packaging is very easy to open and re-seal in case you decide to return them eventually. Good luck.
