By the Nine Divines, I've always wanted you to do some Oblivion videos. Can't believe you've done it before I even ask. I honestly like the atmosphere of Oblivion more than Skyrim and the weird ass NPC dialogues are so amusing and I believe they add to your casual, immersive playstyle. Hope you do more Oblivion in the future.
One thing tho, seems like the npcs speak louder than you? Perhaps balance it a little bit?

I've never seen this quest or that inn before. It reminds me of that first cave from Morrowind with the slaves you can set free.

I would ADORE to see you role play the Shivering Isles DLC. I always thought that was the best Elder Scrolls DLC. Like playing Alice In Wonderland in Elder Scrolls. So badass.

Oblivion was my first RPG of it's kind i played. I chose to be a Argonian because cool lizard guy and then that be came a life saver because i remember going down some stairs into a dungeon and immediately getting chased out by a large guy with a glass warhammer, i then hid in the river untill he finally got bored so now as tradition my First playthrough of any Elder Scrolls game I start as a argonian.

Skyblivion is out in 2025 whatever Bethesda does will be out later and will definitely come out differently and I doubt it'll be as good as what that Mod team has done with it. But I guess we will have to wait & see for sure.

The skyblivion conversion will stomp all over Bethesdas buggy mess that they always make. Granted I played since daggerfell and of course morrowind, oblivion and Skyrim, plus fallout 3 and 4. Love those games, but everyone knows is always massive amounts of small problems, and some big ones, and so much missed/left out content for each game, that it takes modders like a decade to fully flush out the playable beta’s that Bethesda releases.

Opening just reminded me... every time we've seen Mudcrabs they've looked very, very different. From Morrowind's style with the huge insanely big pincers, no claws, and stubby legs to the Long Legs style in Oblivion, to the giant claws version of them in Skyrim... makes me wonder what 6 will bring when/if they're going to Hammerfell. I'm going to guess Mudcrabs show up regardless but will they look like Crabs again, or are they going to be like some new bizarre form?
Just a silly thought you jogged into my mind.

Respect for the Waterfront Shack love though. It's not my personal favorite of all Bethesda made housing... I think perhaps that might be the House Hlaalu Stronghold in Morrowind. Got this nice plateau it's on between Hla Oad and Balmora with a decent view on it. Has this feeling of being big enough to feel like a small estate but not overblown in is size.
Though for Oblivion specifically and Mod Related? One thing I like is running, I believe it's "Maskar's Oblivion Overhaul" which among the many things it does is lets you set up your own homes. You can buy a deed, and stuff to add into it (including a copious amount of tools added by the mod like your own Smithing, Loom, etc). I usually end up building my own home near Cropsford.
And that's because Cropsford itself has a soft spot for me. The whole "Goblin War" mechanic. But on top of that... most quests like that would have the Settlers go "Wow, thanks for doing that, here's a trinket" and either disappear off the face of the earth or never leave their hobo camp. I like that instead they take like a month to show them building up the settlement in phases. Clearing ground, putting up the frames, putting up the walls and roofs, and finally furnishing it.
Heh. The Roxy Inn quest is always interesting to me because I feel so far from how the quest is supposed to make you feel about it.
After all, the Innkeeper says if you ask that "Oh I've never actually seen anything there" right at the start... and then starts making up a lot of stories about the undead swarming the area and scaring off her customers. Which we factually know isn't true because that inn is more crowded than any other inn in the land (Heck I think it has more customers at about 9 at a time not counting the player than even the Tiber Septim Hotel in the Imperial City).
But then I remember Necromancy isn't actually Illegal in the Empire. It's a legal study of philosophy (in the sense of "natural philosophy", a science). The only thing that makes it illegal is if they're committing another crime like murder or grave robbing in the course of doing it.
But that doesn't seem to happen there.
So what it is: Innkeeper hears a rumor that a Necromancer showed up (but never actually saw anything they did or met them). Gets paranoid about it (possibly because Hannibal Traven's crusade and propaganda about "the Black Arts"). Then sends a heavily armed hobo in to kill everyone there in the cave for a vague promise of coin. And most go "Well the Necromancers attacked so they were obviously evil" but you think about what happened. You're chilling in your home, doing your nerd research... then imagine someone kicks open your front door with a revving chainsaw screaming about how he's going to cut you in half, and there's nowhere to run.
Yeah I'd probably try to attack them too.
Just a silly thing for me. I know it's not intended because Oblivion has 100% forgotten that Necromancy is legal and not Intrinsically Evil in Tamriel, like it is in most every other fantasy setting. It just amuses me a bit more than it should.
And how remembering that Necromancy isn't illegal (or even immoral in their world, or carries any innate corruption or evil) shifts how quests like that are viewed. Particularly the whole Mage's Guild questline then becomes "Hannibal Traven started murdering people over their studies, then was shocked when they struck back after years of him killing htem". And they do say it's been YEARS he's been killing every Necromancer on sight.
Just funny to think about. Like what if a cabal of Scientists in our world decided "... so yeah, I think Nuclear Physics is evil. We're going to kill every single Nuclear Physicist, regardless of any laws about it..." and then they act surprised when one day a Nuclear Physicist had a shotgun and blasted them in the face.
So yeah, I kind of doubt that Raelynn was "evil through and through". No sign of it. Hell not even implication of Grave Robbing like "Oh she's set up in my family's ancestral tomb" or something.
It's just that slight perspective you're not supposed to have while playing the game. But I find the game is more interesting when you do. And... I have a soft spot for Necromancy in the games. Because... its' so relatively unique to the Elder Scrolls that Necromancy is treated as "just another kind of magic" and not something intrinsically evil. Except in Oblivion they try to. But even in Skyrim they kind of drop that and no one cares if you're raising the dead (though sadly they walked that back in ESO, giving you a Necromancer class then making pretty much all their abilities a crime if anyone witnesses you using them... c'est la vie).
It's just more interesting to me because of how novel it is. And how it opens up storytelling for "good" necromancers or the idea that say, Conjuration might be seen as evil and Necromancy righteous (After all, Necromancy is giving mortals a second life. But Conjuration is calling forth nigh literal demons from hell, where even the "good" daedra include the likes of the God of Betrayal, Assassination, and Murder by Betrayal...).
Side note I always laughed as well during the Thieves' Guild Questline. There's a point where the Mages Guild conjures a Dremora to be a Messenger to the Imperial Watch Captain. During the Oblivion Crisis. Where Daedra are invading Tamriel. You decided summoning up a Daedra to send a message and hoping people don't panic or murder it thinking the Imperial City is about to be invaded by Oblivion is a Good Idea.
... I really think thematically it should have been Conjuration as a whole that was the "Evil" art in the game if they were going to do the idea of Evil Magic. It'd have made too much sense that during the Invasion from Hell people aren't exactly keen on people who summon up creatures from Hell... Hell the Mythic Dawn are all Conjurors that prolifically use it to the very last of them.
