The S6 beat both the BMW M5 and the Merc E63 AMG on Car & Driver's comparison test, and it was over 100 hp down and $20,000 cheaper then both. And that's just one comparisons I'm referring to, there are many others online and even on TH-cam if you really want to see what Audi's have become capable of...
Audi will be the number one premium brand in the world. They will have their day I have no doubt about that. But the best and most interesting thing about Audi's undeniable surge of tech/performance/reliability/value/curb appeal is both Merc and BMW are both on notice. What will they do to compete? How will Audi respond to that... we are in a renaissance of amazing German Premium cars!! Bring it on!!
Kevin Daskal They won that test because the writers were somehow impressed that a lower-class car was so much cheaper. In any measurable way, an E63 S and an M5 are much, much better cars than the S6. However, they are really starting to build great cars, and for a good price as well. The S8 is definitely one of the best all-around cars money can buy right now.
Apples to Oranges. You are aware that the M5 being based on the midsized 5 series is a whole size class smaller than the full size S8. Motortrend tested the less powerful, much heavier S8 and still beat the M5's already impressive 0-60 time
My Mom and Dad have a Lexus LS430 , Chrysler 300c Hemi, and S500 AMG. LS430 was the best and more reliable car they have ever owned.. Period ! Mercedes was the most Fun ever when it was working..
I agree with you about the S Class being sophisticated but I think you have to at least respect the Audi because for what you get for the price is a bargin!
My uncle had the V10 s8 (2007 or 2008) leased. It looks bigger and more badass and the sound is amazing. But... this model is faster and more fuel efficient.
I really like do like this car. MotorTrend did their Epic Drives through Colorado with this car. How fitting. Oh, and I really like the style of filming for this video: there is that behind-the-scenes feel when you can see the intern filming with the other camera and the points of view change back and forth. It make me, as a viewer, feel as if I'm actually there watching it all be filmed. Its awesome!
My Sister had a Quattro.. Once she hit around 60,000 miles she would find a nut or bolt laying on the floor board every time she climbed in.. It just started falling apart ! Audi cars.. Great when new !!
I watched your review of the new Chevy Stingray Corvette, and you had the car at sea level and it did not perform as well as the company said in the 0 to 60 time frame. Why didn't you test that car in the same area where you tested the S8, which was a mile above sea level? As noted, the S8 has been clocked by most independent auto reviewers from 0 to 60 at 3.5 seconds. Even though the S8 is equipped with an outstanding engine and road prowess, I say you should have tested at sea level.

Driving around Vegas laying waste to every challenger to cruising in complete silence the dual pane glass and active noise cancelation provided… then there’s the reactions my mother enjoyed web she borrowed it. (Vegas, large top tier blacked out sedan, little old lady… she enjoyed hearing yes ma’am’s & no problem) The S8 is my 2nd best owned vehicle, it would be my #1 but my Rally Fighter holds that spot. No major issues experienced and enjoyed every drive. the does it all better vehicle. Could go on but that sums it well

Audi could take a cue from MY BMW 335is… it’s the minimalist dream interior layout best Example… There is Only ONE, one SINGLE BUTTON TO Lock/Unlock the doors (not two) 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 🤤
@@NvTwist that's what I was hoping to read. Since asking you about the car I found out that there was an issue with a defective oil screen that starves the turbos. Audi finally put out recall earlier this year which gives some peace of mind. Thank you for sharing. It really helps filter my options and gets me more interested in the S8.
If I'm not mistaken I believe their at a higher elevation, which would effect the Oxygen levels, ultimately decreasing output especially with the use of twin turbos. I could be wrong.
How's the car doing? I'm looking at these and S7s (RS7 is out of my price range) and they're in the low to mid 30k range for nice ones. Maintenance costs are a concern but I've come to find out that things like brake pads can be bought for much cheaper than the dealer and the labor itself can be almost cut in half at non dealer European repair shops. Hope your ownership has been well so far. Julian
@@Texas_Cruiser I have a 2013 I have to replace the brakes don't go aftermarket I when with the aftermarket one as soon as the brakes got hot they started to squeak had to take them off when to audi bought the factory one didn't let them do the labor but no problem

I respect your show guys. But your doing many 0-60 launches And there are so many things in this car to talk about. And about that carbon fiber. I think it looks pretty damn good. But its an option you can get the wood thing which is not a fake wood. Audi uses the real wood.
How much more is this than the A8 4.0? If its the same engine detuned would it be cheaper to buy an a8 and ten get the ecu remapped and boost changed and stuff?
There are way too many variables for this to be true, Some probably are. However in my experience ...unfortunately they need parts replaced that aren't necessarily wear items at a strange rate. Valve cover gaskets? Really? Probably great to lease. Which is what allot of Luxury buyers do.
Anybody would want either the B7 Alpina or S8. Styling-wise, I think the Alpina, let alone the 7-Series is starting to feel a little dated stylewise, don't get me wrong, it's great looking Beamer. Meanwhile, Audi is hitting every right button when it comes to their interiors even though the exterior is great looking, but appears conservative looking, but that that can be a good thing.

Have you noticed the rear window sunshade going down when Roman put the S8 in reverse? They think about that in Ingolstadt
and its a lot better! I have been is the S8 and the new SClass ( new S65 isnt out yet) and the SClass is MUCH more sophisticated.
Think the Lexus LS600h L is a much better car then the LS Fsport package any day. But for a sportier drive, Audi will be on top.

The guys at Motor Trend Dyno'd that S8 and the hp turned out to be 570 and not 520, and the 0-60 time was 3.8 sec....

You should also test the RS7. Even pretier and less expensive despite been similar mechanically.
