Nice 964. Good luck with the check up, its easy to get parts you need. But if u have to service something with the engine, they have to almost always take out the whole engine to change something. Lots of men hour 👍 but its sooooo worth it!
I just bought a cheap manual 964 C4 here in America last month. It had ALSO been sitting 5 years. Im turning it into a Safari build. I look forward to following your project
I just had a similar situation on a '89 Carrera 3.2. Guy that bought it new had a stroke back in 2004 and health got worse and worse with less and less driving and cleaning of the Porsche. I'm friends with the family and they wanted to keep the the car close, make sure it went to a friend/car guy, and they were willing to give me a good, I mean great deal. I didn't want to get into another project like your brother since this car was covered in dirt, but eventually warmed up to the idea and did it. I'm glad they held the car for me as it was the best decision I ever made. The car cleaned up beautifully. If I were to combine all the Christmas excitement of my entire life would be a small percentage of how this car makes me feel. I love it and good luck with your 964.
This is great, really fascinating thank you so much posting I look forward to your updates, I think 964 are a good if not perfect mix of new enough to be manageable but is one of the last classics. Make a great outlaw with ducktail etc, good luck sir.
Haha I had a similar but showroom condition 964 sent to me in France from UK during lockdown. Opening the front storage also took me a while as did figuring out where all the fluids were and how to check oil properly. Mine has a habit of fluctuating at startup and then cutting out when approaching junctions, but hey it is a 1989 car . I get thumbs up even driving through nearby Monaco as it is just a classic shape.
I think the 964 needs a 'SportChrono' to look better on the dashtop. Happy for you getting this car! It looks great except the clutch as you have mentioned. LOL
As much as I love JDM, please don't stick a motor from one in it. Keep flat six. Maybe hotrod it amd take the original motor out to 3.8 as per the RS. Looking forward to watching more on this.
Haha, don't worry, I promise to tastefully modify this one but there might be some JDM shining through here and there ;) Pretty sure I won't be engine swapping it for a long time!
Killer acquisition man!! Hang in there, do the right stuff it'll take to make everything work and it'll give you decades of pleasure. I have full respect for the JDM in you and encourage you to continue your passion in that space, but regarding the 964, Porsche developed it with a few quirks that will just take some time to cope with. IE: mine petrol gauge never read full or 1/1. When it was full it indicated about 7/8's full. Probably just needed a sending unit or something, but.... Also, learning to drive this car well will take a long time. Not questioning your skill level at all, I figure it's just how the designers wanted to create a long lasting satisfying and evolving bond with it. Sounds almost human, but if I'm honest, it kinda is. I don't name my cars or regard them as anything more than a mechanical tool that I use for my needs or enjoyment, and the Porsche is ok with that, it wants to be driven hard and will reward you when you do. It may try to kill you along the way, but that's just it's way of telling you that you did it wrong and to try another way. Mine was a '91 C2 and the AWD is slightly heavier in the corners but you'll figure it out. Feel free to explore the aftermarket but stick to the proven bits as they have had a long time to perfect them. Enjoy getting to know each other. Cheers

Sometimes life throws you a great deal 👍 we’ll done what a lovely car. My advice, don’t be tempted to change it to much as the value will drop significantly 🚙💨✨
Not sure if that has already picked up by somebody, but I would recon that the oil pressure is a bit on the low-mid side ? I think it should be around 4-5 under "normal circumstances"... But enjoy the heck out of it, wonderful piece of machine's they are. After few "recent" p cars and comparing them to 964, there is just something very-very differently appealing to these machines! I also started my journey quite recently, so if you need to compare a to b for whatever reason, ping me.

Mainly from the UK which would be a win win I guess. I'm considering something like that down the line instead of a conversion but I'm in no rush and will make this one look nice and properly sorted again before I do anything!

In welcher Form hat hier ein Missbrauch stattgefunden? Ich gehe davon aus, dass der 964 im 07er-Fahrzeugscheinheft eingetragen ist, somit sind Probe- und Überführungsfahrten absolut im Geltungsbereich des Kennzeichens.
@@ilumos1 Natürlich sind Überführungsfahrten abgedeckt, nachzulesen im § 17 FZV "...Dies gilt auch für Probefahrten und Überführungsfahrten...". Ich besitze seit 15 Jahren ebenfalls ein 07er Kennzeichen und kann hier absolut keinen Missbrauch erkennen. Eine alleinige Fahrt zur Tankstelle liegt hier nicht vor, sondern eine Überführungsfahrt vom Händler zum Wohnort des Käufers, also voll im Deckungsbereich. Aber im Bezug auf die 07er Kennzeichen kursiert oft gefährliches Halbwissen - grundsätzlich eine super Sache, wenn man die Spielregeln kennt.

Not at all, as far as I know less than 5% of all 964 were RHD to begin with and I was told the car was owned previously by a british buisnessman who brought it to Spain and later to Germany to have it as "vacation tourer", he then sold it years ago to the man I mentioned in this video.

I'm very much invested right now to be honest, I didn't think I was ever gonna be able to afford one and I already got a ton of parts on the way to make this a better car. I don't think anyone would buy it for the price I'd ask right now 😂
I apologize if it offends you so much that you feel the need to comment about it. I however believe people should be allowed to own cars for any given reason, in my case I bought it because it was a car I believed to be out or reach for the rest of my life considering its price development, you're right I feel nothing for the aircooled aspect, but what I feel strongly about is its aesthetics. It's simply a wildly beautiful car and is why I always would've loved one but was never in a position to afford it. I've always tried making all of my cars as good and unique looking as can be, it's what's driving me and what I like about cars. I hope that helps you understand.
