Very nice! Glad you went with the narrow body and not the C4s you were looking at! ENJOY! Carrera 4 is the same chassis as the GT3 (as im sure ppl have said) :D
Now that is the definition of a clean car. It has obviously been cherished and loved, which I'm sure you will continue to do. There really is nothing like picking up a car you have always wanted is there.
Whoever owned / specced that car was classy guy/woman little touches like the centre delete, conti radio, short shift, alloys , mo30 and miltek. The hartec rebuild is the absolute icing on the cake. Great great buy... enjoy
What a superb car. The 996 is the best 911. Still analogue but modern. Just the right size unlike the later cars which are massive and the earlier ones being compromised. Best spec is manual and no sunroof and the 3.4 of 996.1 is the more driver orientated as higher revving. The looks are are so smooth and sleek with those headlights and they are going up in value as people realise just how good they are. Becoming very desirable and people crave the analogue driving experience that these give. A car you will probably never want to replace!
I still don't understand how people called the 996 ugly back when it was current. It's a gorgeous car, congrats. That time when you're waiting to get your hands on the keys to that Heart-Car Purchase is so exciting. How many times have you looked out the window to see it on the drive and had an "Oh my god that is MY car!" moment? I imagine a few!
Hi Lucy, I am really happy for you. It takes a lot of work making content. I know as my partner is trying to launch her channel. I see the hours and hours she puts in. So This birthday gift is well deserved. Big shout out to your partner and his behind the scenes. Keep up the great videos, we love the passion, innuendos and car reviews.
Fantastic, welcome to the club, you’re going to love it. I’ve had mine for nearly five years now and still look back every time I park up not quite believing it’s mine, 996 forever 🍳🍳🦆
I can't imagine you will not love this car in your early automotive adventures. I traded my 996.2 C4S Cab 6 speed manual that had a hardtop for a 997 1.5 911 Turbo Cab Tiptronic and ill be honest the Turbo is sooooooo good its boring. I want my 996 back so enjoy the absolute last of the raw feeling of that car. Congrats!!!!
Congrats on the new ride, Lucy! Getting your first Porsche is a big deal. Seeing how much you love yours made me appreciate mine even more. I'm actually driving it right now!
Hats off to the dealer for the way they presented your car. It’s clearly been beautifully detailed. So much so, it’ll be hard for you to make a detailing video at a later date-Unless of course you can’t resist driving your new toy & it will need a clean sooner than planned.
My Porsche service GM told me "Never let mileage be a determining factor when buying a Porsche." Congratulations and enjoy your car! And yes - the wheels look great.
Congratulations on your 996! So incredibly exciting to enter the world of Porsche with a car that has obviously been very well loved over its life to date!
Hello from Florida. I love the new car!!! I love the wheels with the lowered suspension and more importantly the car is manual. In America seeing manual transmission cars is getting rare. The exhaust sounds really good. One of the best feelings is driving a manual transmission with a nice sounding exhaust it makes you feel so connected to the car. Enjoy your new car!!!!
That's really sweet. Can't beat new car day! You reminded me of my girlfriend when i bought a nice second hand BMW M4 convertible. She was more excited than me! Hope the Porsche brings you many happy memories. Loved the video.
Lovely car and looking forward to seeing many more videos about it. For Porsche geeks....a wee tip...the bottom tip of the Porsche crest on each alloy usually points to the locking wheel nut which in turn points to the valve....easier to locate both items.......just saying :)
Just bought my first 911, 996.2 Carrera 2 a couple of weeks ago. Found your channel and I am sharing your noob excitement. Gets better every time I drive it.
I think you will grow to love it, I have had (4) 996"s and think they are the best value of the money. Lots of upgrades to consider, and you will see how it adds to your personality. You make the car look better. You will have fun with it and will make all your trips more exciting.
Porsche 996 is hands down the best bang for your buck 911. I love that people hate it, as it was my first (of many) 911s. Had it not been priced within my budget, I would have never been able to afford one. The funny thing is I purchased mine about 17 years ago for CHEAP. Last week someone offered to buy it from me for the amount I paid plus another $20k US. That's wild. It's a 99 with LSD, cable throttle, dual row IMS and in rare Ocean Blue Metallic. I have had other 911s but I will keep this forever.
Wow! Looks like a great example Lucy with all the right things sorted. Love the classic colour, the headlights, dark dials, manual short shift and the sound of that exhaust!! But most of all love your new car excitement. Clearly the right car for you at the right time . Looking forward to learning what you think of Porsche ownership, how you personalise the car and how you get on with that legendary rear engined naturally aspirated first gen water cooled 911! Whoop whoop 🎉
@lint8391 No one buys a 996 because it's the cheapest car to buy and run. And from a value perspective 996's won't drop further, so a well looked after example (such as this one with Hartech rebuild) will return plenty of "cash" at future sale.

I have never really liked the 996 generation 911 but that looks like an incredibly good example and it is really starting to grown on me. It is always worth holding out for a really good car with the options that you want and I think it is going to give you both so much pleasure. Will be interesting to see what content you have lined up, pleased to be along for the ride. ❤
That's a great example of a 996. I love this model, actually had a 996.2 GT3 for a few years, one of the best cars I've had. I think the 996, for a while the unloved model, has found its place. Congratulations, enjoy your time with it. I think the name is obvious, it's Ciggy.
not a huge fan of Porsches, but I have to give props to this one! It's nice and clean. With the right tweaks to the car, it‘ll look and perform like a dream!
The 996 is my target to begin 911 ownership, it’s the 911 our generation grew up with. Just got myself a manual 2014 S3, but I hope my next car is a 911. Huge congratulations to you both, lovely car!
WoW! I love it. It took me till I was 50 to get my 911, and now I want yours too lol. Most people wrote off the 996, but as they have aged, they are starting to become very desirable as people begin to appreciate their lines, features, cost and how they drive. What a beautiful 911, indeed. Congratulations! BTW, those wheels!! Whomever speced that car out knew what they were doing there.
Congratulations on your lovely 996 Lucy, the car looks like new & has the right mods, exhaust & lowering springs, there's nothing like the the anticipation of picking up your dream car, the sleepless nights then the journey to the pickup then the drive home getting to know your lovely porsche, well done to both of you & looking forward to lots of content on your fabulous car. x
Lucy congratulations, my first 911 was a Carerra 4 and loved her. Had several Cayenne's and Macan's but have just returned to a 2000 996 Carrera 2 and pick mine up on Wednesday. Enjoy.
Love the car. Best colour. Excellent wheels. I don’t like cherished plates though, I much prefer an ordinary age correct plate. Hope you both enjoy your lovely new car.
I think the content on this car will take the channel to a new level 🚗 Absolutely fantastic cars. My first 'proper' car was a 996 carrera 4S - loved it
Girl, i don't even know you but i'm proud of you. Algo probably found me cause i like cars and am bit of an Anglophile, plus cute girl lol. But, yooooo! What an accomplishment. Big luv from a nearly 50 year old American who is waiting for the day for my first 911 🎉🎊
Well done 28 and a 996, I’m 58 and you’ve reignited my passion or interest in buying a 996 c2 tiptronic again, it’s been on my bucket list for a long time as I’m a BMW guy for the last 20 years. 🤞next year it’ll be my time to buy one
That smile at the end - that’s what it’s all about. Congratulations, it’s well deserved. We do need to see you get in the boot (front boot, frunk?!) though. It’s very important research you do, and something your audience has come to expect. 😂
Brilliant.... I have had 4 vintage 911's, and my current car is a 97 built 996 3.4 Manual. Such a great sports car, and very responsive. The manual is the way to go too. Well done, you'll absolutely love it!
Great video guys congratulations on this amazing car. Look forward to more content as I have also just picked up my Dream 911 and I definitely can't believe I have one.😊
Congratulations!! Welcome to the club! I have the same model and year. Love that we have the same car :) Awesome number plate! These are by far the most unique 911 Generation, first water cooled, very unique interior, high quality builds and unique GT1 headlamps.
Yours aren’t bad but you can do the headlights - pop out easy and get the auto glym restoration kit like £30. Just a power drill and the rest in the kit. Amazing results!
The 996 911 is possibly my favourite looking car , I was looking for one in lapis blue with nice colour interior but just couldn’t find the one I wanted . I got a Tesla model 3 Long Range instead but I’m still looking to own a 911 before my days end . Enjoy it Lucy , you seem really pleased with it .
A nice introduction to the 996, well done You. I have been to that place before, not too far from me. Still looking for the right 911 in my budget. Enjoy the experience and thank you for the video.
you have such an infectious enthusiasm, and it's great to watch and feel part of your experience. fun facts, the spoiler raises at 75mph to let everyone know you're speeding. it lowers at approx 30mph. don't worry about the oil gauge it usually moves around a bit in use. congrats on your 911. hot legs.
Absolutely fantastic, well done 👍 I bought a new C2 cab 996 in 2003 and sold it in 2006 and that was one of the bad selling car decisions I’ve made. They are timeless and still such a good looking, fun driving car. By the way, the spoiler lifts up at 75mph, so we will know when you have been speeding 🤣 Hope you have many, many happy miles in your new Porsche 911.
mazel tov on your purchase - I bought my first 911 about 10 years ago (a 2001 Carrera) and was as thrilled as you are - it was a lovely car to drive and own. Have loads of fun!
Ahh I still remember driving home in my first Porsche,it was a great feeling, smiling all the way home, felt like a great accomplishment! Keep the plate, beautiful 996 enjoy, artic silver is classic Porsche colour too, well done guys 🫶👍
Congratulations! I bought my first grandpa spec, arctic silver over gray '99 996 cab and thought I'd trade up after a year to a 40th anni or something. But i felt a kinship with it. I think I'll take care of it for the rest of my life. It is the last sinew connecting the air cooled with water. It is good enough =).
Beautiful car, in the best colour too, I’ve had silver cars for the last 10 years, there so easy to keep clean, and look amazing when the sun shines on them. Wheels look spot on too, as does the ride height, please don’t start swapping and changing bits on it!
Booster seats work a treat! My two did the NC500 in my 997 CS2 a couple of years back. Family of 4, 2 weeks driving holiday. Just before the dreaded COVID times. Good looking 996!
Huzzah Lucy, huzzah. Can’t wait to watch all the upcoming videos 📹. You have to give the Porsche a female German name like Inga , Helga, Elke, Lena, Liesel (my choice). I named my 2005 BMW 330i, Helmut 😅
I saw this car. You’ve got a good one. C4S pips it but as non C4S goes that’s a nice car. Tastefully put together. Lots of attention on the aero cars at the moment but the previous owner has done a nice job of getting down, spaced out and some little bits like the centre console delete etc to make a stock C4 something a lot better. Great choice!
Congrats! I picked up my 996 C4S cab about 2 months ago now and, like you, still get a thrill every time I look at it. I went convertible in the end for the fun factor and I love the red strip across the back of the C4S. But have to say yours looks beautiful too.
A lot of high end cars from the early 2000’s carried Northern Irish plates, as they were purchased to promote there Internet Company. Holding a key to a new car, never get less exciting, no matter how many cars you buy. You should be proud of yourself, good luck 👍
Congrats!! I never understood the hate for the runny egg headlights, they aged quite well IMO :) I'm eyeing a 987 Cayman myself, but still trying to justify it to myself, and I don't want to sell my car yet either...looking forward to all the updates on your 996!
The speedo calibration markers are daft, because in normal use, you don’t use much of it. A helpful feature is the speed is also shown in mph in a digital display in the speedo (or just below it, I can’t recall).
Lucy I’ve been looking forward to this video for you. ❤enjoy and well done Lucy & George. It’s a truly Great car. Perfect spec in my mind. 👌👏looking forward to future content with it
I don't know why everyone slags off a tiptronic you can basically drive it as manual and it changes gear much quicker than a manual I love the option that I can have both. You wait until your stuck in traffic 😢. Anyway Lucy it looks awesome. I personally love the fried egg headlights I don't like the gen 2 ones. Don't be afraid to be different and this 911 captured a new chapter for porsche taking to a new level. I bloody love mine😊
I’m posting lots of 996 updates on my instagram @lucyoncars 👀

Booster seats work a treat! My two did the NC500 in my 997 CS2 a couple of years back. Family of 4, 2 weeks driving holiday. Just before the dreaded COVID times. Good looking 996!
Huzzah Lucy, huzzah. Can’t wait to watch all the upcoming videos 📹. You have to give the Porsche a female German name like Inga , Helga, Elke, Lena, Liesel (my choice). I named my 2005 BMW 330i, Helmut 😅
Congratulations!
The Reg is fine - simply works
Enjoy every mile 😘
Congrats! 996 is the best 911. I’ve owned many but that’s the one.
Lucy in the sky~~~It is a nice feeling~ I had one too~
Lucy I’ve been looking forward to this video for you. ❤enjoy and well done Lucy & George. It’s a truly Great car. Perfect spec in my mind. 👌👏looking forward to future content with it
Great video, really enjoying this. Fellow 996 (.2) owner.
Congratulations girl! Enjoy man. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽😁
Congratulations! And Happy 28th Birthday! Beautiful car! ❤
Thank you so much 😀
Super happy for you!🙌💯
Ugh.
