  • 6 health benefits of basil seeds. There are many names for this cool healthy seed. Thai basil seeds, flood, sabra, subs, selasih or tukmaria. But today, we’re just going to call them “basil seeds” and we’re going to talk about their health benefits.

    Summary:
Health Benefit 1: They Are A Great Source Of Minerals.
In order to survive, humans need a litany of minerals. Luckily, basil seeds are a great place to find these essential parts of our diet.
Health Benefit 2: They Have A Lot Of Fiber.
Like calcium, magnesium, and iron, we need Fiber in order to survive. EVERY HEALTH reports that: "The national fiber recommendations are 30 to 38 grams a day for men and 25 grams a day for women between 18 and 50 years old, and 21 grams a day if a woman is 51 and older."
Health Benefit 3: They Have A Litany Of Plant Compounds.
You might not think plant compounds can help you, because you're, you know, a human (unless you're a plant, in which case, it's cool that you're watching TH-cam videos). However, plant compounds actually have a lot of sweet benefits if they're consumed.
Health Benefit 4: You Can Drink Them, Too!
These aren't only for eating, no no, they are apparently great in drinks! The people at HEALTH LINE tell us that "Basil seeds have long been used in drinks in India and Southeast Asia. A popular cold beverage-like dessert in India is falooda, made with basil seeds, rose-flavored syrup, and milk. Some versions add ice cream, noodles, or fruit." So next time you're looking for a drink chalked full of fiber and healthy plant compounds, then maybe make some falooda next time you get thirsty!
Health Benefit 5: It's A Good Source Of Omega 3 Fat.
Source of plant compounds, source of fiber, source of minerals and now, we add yet another thing of which basil seeds can be a source. A study done by the RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF FOOD SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY discovered that "Basil seeds contain an average of 2.5 grams of fat per 1-tablespoon (13-gram or 0.5-ounce) serving".
Health Benefit 6: You Can Put Them In Any Thing!
Because they're generally flavorless, you can toss basil seeds into any thing with out compromising your dish. Luckily, HEALTH LINE has provided us with a helpful list of things you can put basil seeds in, but honestly, it's really anything:
    - Smoothies. Add some basil seeds to your next fruit smoothie!
    - Milkshakes. Chocolate and basil seed milkshake? Yes please!
    - lemonade and other drinks. Add some fiber, omega 3 fat, plant
    - compounds and minerals to this cool summer staple!
    - Soups. When you’re sick, have some Chicken, noodle and basil seed soup!
    - salad dressings. Diets become a lot more potent when you add some
    - basil seeds to your salad dressings!
    - Yogurt. Whether it’s greek or not, this dairy will have even more calcium and iron after you add basil seeds!
    - pudding
    - hot cereal like oatmeal
    - whole-grain pancakes. Make Breakfast great again by adding basil seeds to your pancakes!
    - whole-grain pasta dishes.
    - bread and muffins
Step 1. To begin, you'll want to use 8 ounces, 237 ml or 1 cup of water per 1 table spoon of basil seeds. This is because the seeds will only absorb as much water as they need. Too much will leave them soggy, and too little might cause them to clump.
Step 2. After you've added the seeds to the water, you'll want to let them sit for about 15 minutes. Don't be turned off if they start to swell, that's what they're supposed to do. They should become about triple their size, and the seeds' gel like outer portion will turn grey. The center of the seed will not change color, it will stay black. It will also have a very light crunch when you chew it.
Step 3: Once you've gone ahead and let them soak, it's time to add them to the recipe. After a quick strain, you should be able to just toss them into what ever you're making! Oh, and keep this in mind: if you're putting them into soup or some thing equally liquid, you don't need to bother with the soaking.

I was introduced to Thai basil seeds on my last trip to Thailand where they're quite popular and well-known for their health benefits. I would see them made into sweet jelly-like desserts in the night markets. I'm saving a couple tablespoons for springtime and hope to grow them.

All Indian Grocers carry them unless they are owned by Muslims who usually don't use any of the ayurvedic products .
Soak the seeds and warm water till they get fat and gelatinous and then put them in either fresh water and or juice to make a drink that cools you down in the summer and it really does work let me tell you that is a fact as I live in Dallas Texas .
We have been having a heatwave and I have my central air set at 76 but I might raise it to 77 ! Why because I still feel a little bit chilly .
You can also buy these in the ready-made drinks at almost any Indian Grocers they look weird but they do cool you down and that's why I try to warn people not to be drinking them in the winter if they are going to be going outside for more than just getting to or from a vehicle .
They have other health benefits they're supposed to be good for the skin and I do get compliments .
There is also Tulsi powder which is from the same plant ; they both are from the holy basil and you can make a hot tea out of the powder and then when it cools down you can drink it for many of the same health benefits

    • @BestieHealth
      @BestieHealth  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Basil seeds are considered safe for consumption for most people, including children over 4 years old. In fact, in some cultures, basil seeds are a traditional food that is given to children to help cool their body during hot weather.
However, it's important to note that children under the age of 4 may be at a higher risk of choking on basil seeds or any other small, hard objects. Therefore, it's recommended to avoid giving them to young children or to soak them in water until they form a gel-like substance before consuming.
If you are unsure whether basil seeds are appropriate for your child, it's always a good idea to consult with your child's pediatrician or a registered dietitian before adding them to your child's diet.

What’s the best time to take basil seed to looose weight

    • @BestieHealth
      @BestieHealth  ปีที่แล้ว +1

There is no specific time of day that is considered the "best" time to take basil seeds for weight loss. However, there are some general guidelines you can follow to maximize the benefits of basil seeds for weight loss:
Drink basil seed water before meals: Drinking basil seed water before meals can help to promote feelings of fullness and reduce hunger, which may lead to lower calorie intake and weight loss. To make basil seed water, soak 1-2 tablespoons of basil seeds in a glass of water for 15-20 minutes until they swell up and form a gel-like consistency. Drink the water before meals to help control your appetite.
Use basil seeds as a substitute for high-calorie ingredients: Basil seeds can be used as a substitute for other high-calorie ingredients such as chia seeds, flax seeds, or eggs in recipes. This can help to reduce the calorie content of meals and promote weight loss.
Incorporate basil seeds into a balanced, healthy diet: While basil seeds may have some weight loss benefits, they should not be relied upon as the sole method of weight loss. It is important to eat a balanced, healthy diet that is rich in whole foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, and healthy fats.
Overall, the timing of when you consume basil seeds is less important than how you incorporate them into your overall diet and lifestyle. Be sure to speak with a healthcare provider or registered dietitian before making any significant changes to your diet or exercise routine.
