I bought my a7r2 almost 2 years ago at Best Buy for 1200 brand new and its been the greatest purchase I ever made...ive bought the sony 50mm 1.8 and then got the sony 24-105 f4 and soon after the sony 85mm 1.8.....last week I bought the Tamron 150-500 and turned into a bird photographer lol...I love my whole kit and have taken some of the most beautiful pictures just like anyone with newer cameras...I love my a7r2 and will never upgrade
Yes just because its an old model doesn't make it any less of a camera, Sensor technology is changing, but not that much. The new cameras don't really offer anything to make a better image. Just tools that make it easier.

I have moved on to the A7R3 in the Sony world. It fixed what was lacking in the A7RII. Mostly I could not deal with the struggling eye focus. The R3 is much, much better--and it nails pretty much everything much better. It was a good upgrade. However, the Sony A7RII felt way better in the hand as it was a bit thinner. In this regard it was perfection. If they could put the improved eye focus in the R2, I would purchase a used R2 body. It really was a joy to handle. Good video. Thanks.
I agree completely, I have been watching the A7Riii market because the A7iii was so good, Before I didnt see the need for the upgrade but if the right deal comes along, I would get a mk3.
@@MalcolmWalker Got lucky (I think). Purchased the A7R3 for a reasonable price. That and the Canon R6 are my current line up. But I also own three Canon 5D Classics--best images I have ever taken come from them!
I agree that at the bare minimum they should update the lens compatibility across all cameras.
Yes, I have a theroy that the lens does it when you connect the camera, but why do some new cameras require an update for certian lenses.🤔

how many pictures have you taken with your a7r2? I would like to know how many ive taken but not sure how to figure that out
I have probably around 20k on my A7Rii, You can download Picture Information Extractor or PIE. Upload your last picture taken to it and buried down in the exif data will be a shutter count. This will make for a great LIVE session demo this Thursday so I will do it there LIVE.

I found a free software called camerashuttercount com that works, But use at your own risk. It just makes you upload an image. I recommend a blank image with the lens cap on. Very basic webpage, no info. Seems accurate and verified my count. 20,608

I wouldn’t hold your breath, they don’t even update their current cameras 😢
I know, they really need to give some attention to the A1, A7SIII and FX3. It seems like at the time of release for the A7iii and A9 they were all about updating cameras, but the last couple of years they have really slowed down.
I hope Sony listen I just got the A7r ii
If we can get their attention they may, never know.
