  • Hi Everyone! 👋🏽🌹 I have been playing around with these Soft Glass implosions (or compression) pendants for a while now and I am finally feeling comfortable enough with the technique to share it! 😍✨ Making these with soft glass rather than Boro is a bit tricky at first, but once you figure out the heat it opens up a whole new world of design possibilities.
    I am starting out simple with this fun Kenzan style implosion …. most people know this as a Florist Frog! ✨ This is a great starting point for those of you who have been interested in making implosion pendants and are not sure where to begin. I hope you all enjoy!!
    I want to give a big shout out to all of our Dungeon Friends….Thank You for your support!! 🤩🌹🌹✨
    ✨Hugs & Cheers to you all - Robin 🌈😍

    You’re a genius! I’ve been stuffing around unsuccessfully with tiny dots in each of the imprints but this technique is infinitely easier. Love your gentle way of teaching. Thank you

      Hello Tiger! 👋🏽✨ Thank you so much! 🤗🌹 I love the way it looks…but there is no way I could put a tiny dot on each impression! …I’m just way too shaky! 😅 I think it looks great with and without the air trap bubbles. So glad you enjoyed! ✨ Cheers- Robin🌈🌹🌹🌹

    Very Nice Implosion. I’d never considered using shards for an implosion. I like the almost Asian Mum like look of the flower. When teaching about using cold seal punties, especially soft glass as it’s so easy to accidentally over heat and set a hot seal punty instead , I suggest my students use the same color rod as the backer or the glass you’re puntying onto. That way, if some glass is left behind, it’s much easier to incorporate into the design without leaving an area of clear behind.

      Hi Linda! 🙏🏽🌹🌹 I couldn’t have said it better myself about using a cold seal punty! I feel bad that I didn’t really talk about it… But it is important to understand how it works! 😃 Thank you for input!! Using the same color punty as the back and color is a great tip!! 🤩✨✨ Im really glad you enjoyed this one… I actually borrowed the shard technique from a Flameworker that resides in Japan.
      I love how it gives such a thin layer of color….it does look like a mum!🥰🌹
      Great to hear from you & thanks so much for sharing!! 🌹✨✨Cheers- Robin💫🌈✨✨

    Love the technique Robin and also your use of shards in this pendant to make it more unique to yourself. I also prefer the bail on the mandrel rather than trying to make a hook. I believe it is more secure this way in all honesty. These are truly beautiful pendants and both pendants at the end are wonderful for the eye to look at, you have done stunning glass work with these pendants. I love watching you work and your process that your go through as you work but also how you explain it, it is truly helpful in learning more skills so I thank you Robin

      Hello Kelly! 🌹✨ Thank you so much!! 😍 The shards really help to get a nice thin layer of color… and I love seeing more than just one solid color on these. I tested this method several times, and it seemed to work out great! Sometimes I get worried about not getting my point across and getting tongue tied during my talking points… I don’t want to confuse anybody! 😂 Grateful for your comment! ✨🌹
      Glad you enjoyed!! Hope all is well with you 🙏🏽👋🏽 Cheers- Robin💫🌈🌹🌹

    I just found your channel and honestly, I'm so glad I did. I love your positive attitude and how you explain everything. As someone who doesn't work with glass, this was by far the most enjoyable video on the subject I've ever seen! Can't wait to binge your videos and I'll be looking forward to new ones!

      This technique comes from a Japanese TH-cam channel where he gives the most detailed, amazing instructions, but I don’t save my TH-cam history, and so I’ve been unable to find it since because I forgot to subscribe! Hoping to find it again

      Hi Linda! 🌹✨ I hope this helps you get started! Holding the disk steady on the side of the flame while heating the edge made all the difference. (I was moving it around to much before 😅✨✨)
      Let me know how you make out with this one if you give it a try! 😃🙏🏽🌈 So glad you enjoyed!!

      @@scottwoodresearch Thanx you Robin ! ❤ I was wondering somethings, everythime I use my light colors rode (like white, gray, ivory, light blue..) they always bubble up and turn black like if the rode had burned insted of melting, I tried to lower the temperature of my flame but it does'nt look like it work, I use a lamp torche that can go uped to 1900°C. Do you have any advice ?

    • @scottwoodresearch
      @scottwoodresearch  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @origamia5144 Hello Origamia! ✨🌹 It might be the type of torch you are using. If you do not have a mix of oxygen and gas (propane) the flame can easily‘burn’ your glass. It is an actually not burned but a carbon build up from using a ‘dirty’ flame. But you could also just be too close to the torch head…. try holding your glass out further in the flame. It might take a little longer to melt but you won’t dirty the glass. This usually happens on a hothead torch. What kind of torch are you using? 🙏🏽🥰 I hope this helps!! Cheers- Robin 🌹👋🏽✨✨

      @origamia5144 No problem Origamia! 😃🌹 There are several types of single fuel torches..I have only heard of the Hot Head. I believe they have a tip made for glass. Something to check into if you’re still having trouble. ✨✨ Cheers- Robin 🌈

    Hi Robin, after reading the comments it looks like you’ve made another super hit tutorial. I’m thumbs up too with a big smile, can’t wait to give this one a go in a few hours. Think I’ll give the pre-made bail and try too. A quick question, how did you end up working in the middle of the mandrel? It’s the first time I’ve seen this technique and seems to make a lot of sense. Big thanks as always. Dan 😊

    • @scottwoodresearch
      @scottwoodresearch  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Dan! 😃👋🏽 Thanks so much! 🌹 I’m excited for you to try this out. The first workshop I attended for bead making was with a lady that worked in the middle of the mandrel. I’m so glad it worked out that way….I have much more control this way especially with my shaky hands!😅 The first demo in the 101 playlist shows how I get the bead release on it. Just remember to dip the hot end in water if you use my method of the bail!! 😂 So glad you enjoyed this one! You will have fun with it! 🌈🌹🌹🌹Cheers my friend- Robin 👋🏽🙏🏽

    Hi dear Robin, great video on implosions! I agree that making them with shards gives great results (I learned that in a japanese lampworker video). Have you tried transparent or very thin shards? It gave me kind of a “phantom” transparent flower. And thanks to your video, I understood why there are no bubbles on top of the petals! 😊 And I was wondering : what is the color of the second one on your video? Thanks!🌸💐

    • @scottwoodresearch
      @scottwoodresearch  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello Sonia! 🤗🌹 Thanks so much! ✨ That same Japanese lampworker was one of my references! 😅✨🌹 That guy is amazing and the glass he uses is even softer than 104. I think it is Satake glass 133. I have yet to try many transparent…but the other pendant is made from DH Atlas. It is similar to the one in the last demo. I wanted to try the bubble implosion but I didn’t want to worry about placing all of those dots! 😅. I’m working my way up to those flower implosions!😂 Soon, I hope! 🌹 Thanks so much for sharing!! Glad you enjoyed!🙏🏽
      Cheers- Robin 🌈✨🌹

      Hello Lamp! 🌹👋🏽 Thanks for your comments! 😃 This implosion was inspired by a fellow glass artist on TH-cam, Monchy Panda. He is absolutely brilliant and I hope you can find the channel! 🤗🌹I usually don’t have many references…(there is not a lot of info out there). I was so happy to find this artist….great inspiration and very informative! ✨🌹✨ Cheers- Robin ✨💫
