    Hi Robin! I have finally use my torch and make this beautiful beads (I made 3 already and can't get enought). I even use for the first time my bluestone instead of mica and it looks great too! I made a bluestone stringer and put it in a spriral on a bead. Thank you as always for every video you made. Have a nice day my dear friend. Basia p.s. I hope the groundhogs have left you alone!🌺🌺🌺

      Hello Basia!!😃🌹 I’m so happy that this one inspired you!! That’s wonderful! I hope you send me some pics! I would love to see how the blue stone looks. (I’m in the middle of writing to you….😅) I need to download that app you told me about….I will try to do it today! We haven’t seen any more groundhogs so I hope that means they have moved on 😂. However today patrick and I noticed that something has eaten all of the cantaloupes we planted 😩….try again next year! I hope you are having a wonderful August with decent weather! Hugs to you dear friend!! Robin 🌺🌼💐🌈🌹✨

      My goal is to make 40 of the same bead to show my progression, I have been too busy these last few weeks but my schedule is finally freeing up for me to be able to spend more time at the torch. Thank you for all you do and show us I love all the videos and have tired a few of them

    Lots of really good basic techniques. I didn't know you could use mica in lamp work. I love bling❤. Your color combination is lovely. I tend to go with blues and purples, forgetting how the yellow and reds can really make everything pop.

    • @scottwoodresearch
      @scottwoodresearch  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Linda! 🤗🌹 I’m glad I used the mica…it is much easier than using dichro strips! 😂 I do prefer to use the stone flakes rather than in powder form … the particles are bigger and give more sparkle!

    Thanks so much Robin, plenty of ideas in a single bead! I have mica powder (for fusing),do you think it would stay on or burn? Flowers with multiple colors are also a great idea!
    I’m back from my Glass festival which was a great success, 5000 visitors in 2 days! We all sold well and I sold 25 jewelry pieces ! I have to get back to my torch 😅! Hope all is well with you ! Cheers, Sonia 🌺💫✨

    • @clareconn
      @clareconn ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I use mica powder in lampwork, you just need to encase it as Robin has done with the mica chips.
      As the powder particles are so tiny, you'd get a flatter result; Robin's chips give a more 3D effect because they are larger, uneven in size and can be pushed deeper into the glass.
      😊

    I've made 8 of these yesterday, carefully maintaining heat, annealed at 980F but 4 of the cracked along the mandrel, vertically as if to break in half, when cleaning the inside after they were off the mandrel. I had a eggplant core and clear and dichro and the flowers. Do you have any secrets to heal them and prevent this in the future? Love all your beads and tutorials

    • @scottwoodresearch
      @scottwoodresearch  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Mirela! 🌹✨ I’ve had glass crack weeks after! It is frustrating if you don’t know why. So when you’re heating and cooling the glass over and over again, it builds up stress. The stress can let go at any point after the bead is cooled. The vibration from cleaning the inside could have been what relieved the stress causing it to crack. The fix can be as simple as a giving the glass a really good heat before annealing, ensuring that the stress in the glass is released. 🌹✨ I hope this helps… As I know how frustrating it can be to have your work break after cooling! But this has always helped me and I haven’t had any issues since. Thanks so much for your question!
      Hugs and Cheers - Robin 🌈🌹✨✨✨

    • @mirelapopovici9077
      @mirelapopovici9077 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@scottwoodresearch thank you Robin, yes I understand it is a thermal crack, when it is vertical like that along the mandrel on both side. I saved three out of five by putting them back on a wet mandrel, in cold kiln, slowly heated and in the flame and melted all the way, heat and kiln again. Let's see how long they last. My husband is already asking me what I will do smith so many beads lol, I will keep these for myself but would like to gift to friends and maybe sell one day just to buy more glass. Thank you again for your tutorials, the best!

    • @scottwoodresearch
      @scottwoodresearch  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @mirelapopovici9077 Hi Mirela! 🤗🌹 That fix is brilliant!!! I honestly don’t think I would have attempted that. I have reheated beads before but never to heal cracks. I am crossing my fingers that they come out of the annealer without any issues! 😅🙏🏽 That’s so awesome!!

    Hi just tried. Question- when I make the 3 dots( white- flatten- transparent color- flatten) then when I heat dots to push center poke with a stringer it the dots all melt together into a mess? Should I try less heat? Dots further apart? Big thanks 🤗

    • @scottwoodresearch
      @scottwoodresearch  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Maria! 😃🌹 Perhaps your white dots were touching each other? It will look blobby if they are touching. I try to put the white dots just far enough away so that they don’t touch when flattening. I also try to make them really small. The transparent dots are not as important as the white dots. I don’t think it’s the heat. It took a bit of patience and practice for me to get them just right….you will get there!! I hope this helps!! Cheers- Robin 🌺💫
