I watched the metallic ink video and you mentioned people giving you grief about DIY.
I APPRECIATE IT! I am on a very tiny budget and this gives me an opportunity to try other things that I probably couldn’t if I have to buy from stores. Thank you.
Thank you for inspiring and sharing.

Thank you so much for the information on alcohol inks, I'm disabled and on a limited income. I put away my art when I became a single parent and had no extra time or money for it. It's so expensive to start from scratch and I've forgotten so much it's been 30 plus years since I put brush to canvas. This alcohol ink looks like the most fun, easy and inexpensive way to get back into art for me. Thanks again for the tips and the demo.

I played around with alcohol inks several years ago in a very abstract way. I've always considered myself creative but have never felt like I could draw or paint literally. I was drawn to the inks as there are no real mistakes plus I was excited to see some of my abstract designs morph into something identifiable lol. But I'm now inspired to try makers to attempt some more intentional art. So excited for the rest of this series. Thanks!

Love your video! Can hardly wait to get started. I bought the bottles of ink, but I think this is the way to get familiar with the medium. You make it look so simple. I'll have to dial in to my childhood self for that kind of free flow and innocent creativity. Add to all that ... everything Lynda Walker said! Thank you so much.

Try and check eBay too for supplies. You can find cheap everything and it's not so bad to risk a dollar to see if a water brush will work. Drying out the alcohol bottled inks in a palette will also allow you more control with a dry, cheap, small paint brush and a touch of alcohol or alcohol blending solution. The blending solution has binders while just alcohol breaks the binders needed for the ink to bind with the paper. A small, thin stir straw used on it's side to push drops of alcohol ink around works amazing.
Cheap Joe's have the best price that I've found for Yupo and Grafix papers like Duralar. Can't beat that Kirkland Photo paper but I'm betting the effects for each paper is different. I'll have to play with that. Grafix papers is awesome because it's translucent and you'll be able to layer. ;). The Duralar line is heat resistant so you could experiment with embossing. Yupo can also stand some heat for embossing. There are so many things to play with. :)

hi love your videos, I just started to experiment with alcohol inks and couldn't find any Yupo paper at all. Soooo I got this great idea to try Photo paper which I had a lot of. Hey it worked great. I used the shiny side but will try the other side now. I didn't have a straw to use so thought of the empty gel ink pens taken apart. Great as a straw. Then I thought of squeezing the ink out of the plastic piece and mixed it with alcohol to thin it down. The darker colours seemed to thin out better but I got crazy effects with the glitter ink in them. Its worth a try as well as the larger markers. Also I bought some water pens for my water colour paintings from Wish in China for about $2 and free postage! They do the same job as the much dearer ones!
