I never previously understood why I was struggling coloring with Alcohol Markers until I’ve just started watching this helpful video I’ve been using Markers and/pens wrong, thank you.
Sometimes I can’t believe this content is free. Thank you for sharing your time and talent. I learned a great deal.
that's so nice of you to say!
Wow! Such a simple way of determining compatibility with marker colors. Who knew? Just got my 1st set of Ohuhu alcohol markers. I love them and trying 2 learn everything about this awesome medium.
Lou, you're the best! I learn so much from you. Thanks for explaining the purpose of the blender marker.
Absolutely brilliant and informative tutorial. I can’t thank you enough 🙏. I didn’t know about any of the points you covered here. So grateful 🥰
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for this, it is the first time I have watched an easy explaination of using these pens and it has got me wanting to give it a go again
That's great to hear!

Fantastic video very clear and useful information! Thankyou!!!
Ty Lou. I learned several new things on this video!
A newbie to card craft, this was so helpful. I too bought Ohuhu pens, and now maybe I’ll colour blend better. Great to know about the white blending pen. Much appreciated, 🏴🇳🇿
This video helped me with my alcohol ink blending. Thank you so much, I didn't think of the actual paper being a cause of inconsistent coloring.
Leart 2 big things, thank you Lou.
The Bleaching pen, and the c.t.g numbering system and how to use it. Will have to have a closer look at mine now 😂
Thank you for this invaluable lesson which will really get me going again. Explaining the coding to establish which colours will blend together best has demystified the whole process!
Thank you, that was very helpful 😃
Great information. I also have the Spectrum Noir pens & had no idea what the letters & numbers meant. Thanks so much for this video.
Thx so much, i have lots of alcohol markers but hardly use them causeit scares me, your video helps SÓ much, thx a lot!!!!
Thank you x
This was really helpful. I've just started out with alcohol markers. While I noticed many of the things you mentioned, I didn't know why, so I have a much better understanding now. Great video.
Good information, thank you.
Thank you for this it helped me alot with my drawings.
I have been using my alcohol markers for years. Thank you for teaching me what a blender does and why they occasionally bleed.
This is so helpful. I had decided to revert to pencils but will now give my markers another try. The cardstock is good and this information should correct my errors. Thank you
I just purchased a set of Ohuhu markers (my first alcohol markers) and I really appreciated this video. Didn’t know the trick with the blender marker!
Companies need to stop calling them a blender as they don’t! It’s so misleading for beginners. Ohuhu are so nice and juicy

@CraftStash • Lou: Very informative. I can't wait to apply some of your tips. Thanks!
Great tutorial!
Great informative video❤❤❤❤❤❤tyfs
Saving for later. Ty.
Thanks for this video. I just received a 320 set of Ohuhu Brush Markers for Xmas, and now I get to play with them using your tips 😄
You kept the best till last. This was a mystery to me. I was thinking on the right tracks but not quite getting the full gist of it. Thank you for solving the mystery 😊
Dear Lou, I always use the lightest color to fill in the stamp, petal by petal. Then the darkest marker, then the middle color, but just tipping the dark, because it will take of your color and then the lightest color again. I always use copy paper under my Neenah paper to absorbe the color. thanks for your video. Greetings Thea, the Netherlands
Great tips Lou
Thank you Lou for these very helpful tips. Crafty Hugs - Dawn 🌅
Wow! How I stumbled upon you, Ill never know, but I'm grateful! Thank you for the amazing tips! I am especially relieved about the "blending" marker and my results being weird. Lol. You have a new subscriber. Thank you!
Thanks for subscribing! We’re glad you enjoyed the video
Thank you
Thanks so much, learned heaps! I’m one of those that haven’t really got the most out of my alcohol pens, now I understand why 🤪
We're glad you found this video useful! Hope you're loving your alcohol pens now - happy crafting!
there IS a little bit of a learning curve if never used before but it doesnt take long to use them with pride :)
One common mistake that we make is not putting a piece of paper under the paper we are working on. Spectrum Noir reps say this is important so the ink doesn’t try to come back up onto the paper from underneath.
Thank you for easily explaining them. I have a set (off brand) that I like the colors, but of course, they are not out. Not being used. I want to get them out now. First, I need to look at my paper, I know it is not the right kind. Hmmm, will the paper say "marker paper" on it? Need to look at what I have.
Thank you!!
Finally - a good video on how to use alcohol markers that has results I actually want! Thank you!
Quick question though - what's the average time needed to allow the marker ink to dry on the paper?
Alcohol markers take a LOT of practice to get great results like the best colourists. It takes time so keep going!
💯 I’ve taken online classes which have also improved my technique.
@@chantalle7340 there are some excellent ones
Practice makes perfect!
The Shinhan Art blender actually does work like a blender. But yeah the Copic blender and some others seem to work like a bleacher instead.
So test your blender to see what it actually does whenever you get a new brand.
Hi Lou, fantastic video n very educational. A great video to watch. The one thing is always forget is which ink pad to use with which medium. So if youre stamping n using alcohol markers use Momento, but which ink pad do you use if colouring with Aqua markers and does the same apply if using aqua or colourblend pencils?? I have recently bought SN aquas n classiques markers n both sets of pencils, so any advice is much appreciatedThank you as always. X
I have just bought them too, but I'm really struggling with using them as there aren't exactly the different shades like the other watering pencils that I've used in the past....
Thank you! My markers don’t have letters, just numbers. How do I choose the colors to blend?
TFS💖🌸
I wonder if you can use the blending pen with water color paint also. I will try and let you know.
What brand of paper do you recommend for coloring with your alcohol markers?
@joycepedercini3841
I had the same question. Have you found an answer yet?
I love Rendr and Strathmore 400 series
Great demonstration, but I would not dream of using copy paper out of a printer,I always use card stock and have had no problems
The way you hold your marker gives you more restricted range of motion. If you hold it between your thumb and first finger, resting on your middle finger bringing all three fingers together you'll have better control.
I have a problem with color bleed. What am I doing wrong? Am I using the wrong paper?
I use Neenah paper for alcohol markers, be sure to lay down a piece of copy paper under your Neenah.
@@theadieperink4681Where do you buy that paper ? I'm am Aussie and I haven't heard of it - but I've also never known what to look for !
Alcohol marker Memento ink ☺️
Have you got more videos planned on using alcohol markers?
I usually love your videos and your teaching style but felt this was a little short and more could of been covered. I'm relatively new to alcohol colouring as for years I didn't fancy the colouring 3 times to get the blended effect. I'm now a convert but very much on a low budget. I realise you can only use the pens you have and won't necessarily want to buy other pens to demonstrate with. Sorry that sounds rather negative😂 not my intent just felt I wanted more as I could listen and watch you for hours🤗 My struggle at the moment is leaving white/pale highlights while colouring, depth (where to shade) on rounded objects and using white highlighter pens. I'm not sure how much is just practise and watching lots of videos. I will pop over to your playlist as I'm sure you will have a list of your alcohol colouring videos there, if I haven't already watched them all🤣. Eleanor
This is almost exactly what I was going to ask!! If you find anything, could you please let me know? 🙂
@cathismith2624 Hi I did have a look through both Craftstash and Lou's TH-cam channel and didn't find anything. I watch a lot of Kelly Taylor Cards she does a lot of copic colouring, if you can cope with her storytime and religious references, she is well worth watching. Eleanor
Hello, i’m using ohuhu markers on thin marker paper and some of the markers are really watery for some reason. I don’t think they leak, but when i draw with them the ink is not dry and sticky and if i add more colors it looks like i’d be coloring with water colors.. i’m not sure how to explain it. Does anyone know what may be wrong?
I've heard of people complaining about blotchy patches from that brand.
