I was at Whole Foods yesterday and looking at their little yogurts this guy is right they have a lot of sugar. Get the plain yogurts. And add your own fruit.
I make all my own plain yogurt and kefir. I use organic grass fed whole milk to make them. Also, I make all my own fermented veggies like sauerkraut, kimchi, carrots etc. Super easy to do
@@snizzletoast3374 Like the grandmothers did it. Warm up milk to body temperature, add starter culture (a cup of fresh kefir), stir and let it ferment in a dark warm but well ventilated place... some say 6 hours is enough, some say 24. The trick is to use real, least-processed milk, let it breathe and don't overheat.
Yep, i eat everything Bobby listed. 71 years old, no meds no prescriptions no vaccines of any kind no doctor visits (my doctor miss me) for the past 2 decades.
Ditto here. 72 y.o., no meds, starting third year of weight training, eat whole foods, and no breads or processed sugars. I feel 20 years younger!! Giving up breads and sugar approx. 10 years ago gave me more energy and better memory retention.
Excellent! It's easy to make your OWN sauerkraut from organic cabbage, and a head of cabbage is far less per pound than refrigerated pre-made sauerkraut. It just takes salt, a mason jar, and some time to ferment (a couple of weeks). Also, speaking of kraut, make sure your naturally fermented stuff doesn't have preservatives; some do, for real...no, really, they do...and it kills *all* the bacteria.
Heating above a certain temp also kills the good bacteria. I forget the exact temp because I never cook mine anyway. I make my own fermented sauerkraut and it never comes near my stove or oven. After going through the work of slicing, massaging and waiting for my good probiotics to grow, I’m not about to ruin it by heating it. Loving raw, cold sauerkraut makes it a delicious easy food for me. I love it so much. Especially IF you can find sauerkraut that’s not only organic, but was let in the ground until it gets hit with a “Light” frost. That light frost turns those cabbage juices sweet. There’s a noticeable difference and it’s delicious.😋 What you notice when you eat fermented foods regularly… Not much, at first. When you notice it is when you’ve run out and not had any for a week or two. You definitely notice the difference in how much better you feel when you eat it regularly. I’ve been out of my favorite sauerkraut for months- years really. I became really sick due to complications of 30 years of ESRD. Since that time I’ve developed enough other issues that I don’t have the strength or stamina to grate my cabbage & massage it like is required to make good lactobacillus, anaerobic, fermented sauerkraut. I really miss doing my own cooking from scratch with whole, organic food that I’ve raised myself or know the farmer who did. Our health is everything. I learned that lesson too late. Don’t be like me, when I was young thinking I was invincible so I was completely ignorant about just how important it is to take care of our health while we have it. Once gone, it’s hard to get back and in some cases, like mine impossible.

Someone redommends using seeds like flax and chia for probiotics since they survive the stomach acids and actually get to the gut. That suggests that a lot of probiotic foods don't survive long enough to get into the gut. Have you any comment about this?
Is there a difference between Kiefer and Kefir? Are they similar in texture and taste? I've never heard of Keifer before, must be a different probiotic drink.
Great recommendation - problem is: THE PRICES. Siggi's is around $5-$6 (3 years ago half that). The price of the items with the sugar is sometimes cheaper. What justifies such a high price for a product that is mostly made of..... water?
I have bought organic and GMO free my whole adult life (I am 44) and people think I am crazy to spend so much on groceries, but I think it is worth it because of the health benefits. I don't have a doctor except a Naturopath I see occasionally, and have not had a prescription of any kind since I was 21 and had an abscess tooth. I see the health issues of people around me and know it is worth it. I also do a lot of buying in bulk and shop sales of course to keep it affordable. I live in Canada and this year organic butter reached $14.59/lb so I have started cooking with coconut oil and making my own grass fed tallow. It takes some effort, but eating healthy is possible!
These foods are all great additions to your diet, but most of these (especially Avocados) are high in histamines. So if you find yourself having worsening health issues after consuming these, you might have a histamine intolerance. I personally cannot digest Avocados very well and they make my lips itchy along with other gut issues when consuming them.
I Loved the Wildbrine too, but according to the guthealthmd you should never buy fermented food in plastic containers because the gases leach chemicals from the plastic. He specifically shows wildbrine in the clip as one not to buy but instead opting for glass jars.

Hi Bobby thank you for gut foods information. I have learned a ton, but some of the stuff we don’t carry here in 🇨🇦 Canada. Thanks for always coming with new ideas or reminder to stay away from.
Bobby, some people have to go on a FODMAP diet, they can't digest fermentable sugars, garlic, onions and honey. So certain foods have to be taken away, then brought back slowly. Ever heard of that?
When that brand of sauerkraut, I get the Red Beets version. I eat it as is and it's better tasting that the original. You also get some nitric oxide benefits of drinking beet juice. Once it's gone, I'll keep the juice and have a few sips before I go workout.

We need “Bobby approved” but realistic for families. One income earner, family of 5. Trying to feed everyone with healthy food feels impossible right now 😢
I come from a family of 8 growing up in the 50s/60s when all the processed foods started My eating habits are terrible. At 71, I realize so many health issues of mine are coming from processed foods, sugar and carbs. I’m addicted to those foods. I know now I have leaky gut and obviously have had it most of my life. It’s thru the roof now where I have to make radical changes in my eating. I would suggest getting your children off of processed food and white sugar. You could make your own yogurt and kefir but healthy eating habits are key. After watching Bobby, I realize 80% of grocery store food items are garbage. Wish I would have been taught this as a child. I believe it caused my depression, skin issues, allergies etc etc. Whole Foods cooking at home is key. I need to teach myself what that is now. Will be shopping only the perimeter of the stores from now on. You’ll save in the long run with healthy family. Also, I overeat on junk food. When I eat healthy food, I find I don’t get hungry and I don’t crave. Those store bought cookies, chips, etc are super expensive. You probably know this but I still felt compelled to write my story. You’re doing the right thing for your family. 👍🏼
You can make the sauerkraut yourself at home! I make it myself and it's delicious and easy to do. You just need cabbage, salt, a clean container and a dry and dark spot of the kitchen where to store it
Thank you for sharing this info Bobby! My husband and I were at Sprouts this weekend and picked up a jar of chocolate coconut cult…it is pricey but oh my gosh is it heaven in a jar, wow! Also tried your cottage cheese sauerkraut combo and LOVED it!! 😋
I follow the holistic guru Dr Joseph Mercola and buy most of my supplements from him. Additionally, he's also a great source of the truth in health and wellness. There is so much misinformation out there. Beware of the doctors that only know how to promote drugs and procedures. It all starts with nutrition and life style habits. 😀
Thanks Bobby great video, and nicely presented, I attest Avacados are amazing for health and gut I do really well with them I just had my first Sauerkraut today, and and kimchi , tasted so good and I feel mentally better after consuming it so probiotics are doing their things I find goat milk yogurt, especially the St Helen’s one in the UK, very tasty and refreshing , more so than any other yogurt, smells very fresh too, it helps my gut , and a warmed glass of goat milk helps me have good bowel movements etc

Like your cottage cheese /sauerkraut combo on sandwiches. Sounds unusual but I'll try it, as I'm bored with cheese/turkey/ mustard sandwiches. Thanks for your video.

Always keep Good Culture and Wildburne on hand. Never even thought to mix the 2 (little grossed out). Jump to Now, Thank you Bobby I will be combining the 2 everytime. Oddly delicious pairing.
siggis yogurt (skyr or greek) is amazing and even less expensive than the big brands while being packed with protein. I add a bit of honey myself for the sweetener (honey and maple syrup my 2 only sweeteners I use).
I make my own kefir and yogurt. I go to a farm every 2 weeks near me and get raw, grass-fed milk and eggs. It's very easy to make your own cultured dairy products.
I came across your youtube video and immediately love it. I get so confused as what to eat and drink, but you explain it so well. Can you tell me the best milk to drink for my coffee in the am. I am 69. My mom was diagnosed with dementia last year. I've been doing zumba for 5 years now and doing my best to stay healthy. Keep up the good work.
Bobby, please advise Canadians and those outside contiguous U.S. mainland that Thrive doesn't ship to these places so that they don't jump through the hoops. BTW, I enjoy your presentations and information re label reading to avoid nutrition pitfalls. Many products we can find at Costco's 75 miles north of us but is a pain to access due to the fact that we have to maneuver through a congested city to access....
All salt is not created equal. Your husband’s dr (or whoever warned you about salt) doesn’t know the difference between table salt and the good ones. Good ones include celtic sea salt, himalayan pink salt and Redmonds. Alternatively for an even better result, you can make sauerkraut with cabbage and Body Ecology’s Culture Starter. I buy refigerated sauerkraut (or greek yoghurt) and add a sprinkle of Body Ecology Culture Starter, mix in well in the jar, put on lid and leave on the counter for about 24 hours (at temp of about 20c). This ferments the kraut even more. Body Ecology also makes a Kefir Starter which you can use to make milk kefir or coconut water kefir. Body Ecology’s founder, Donna Gates, is the original fermenting queen. Best products on the market. Their digestive enzymes are also the best. Not to mention the Vitality Greens powder and Super Spirulina which are both fermented, therefore our gut absorbs the nutrients.
According to the gut health md, wildbrine is not a good option because fermented foods should never be stored in plastic. He says always opt for glass containers. In the clip he he actually shows the wildbrine as one not to buy. He says the gases produced from fermented foods leach the chemicals straight out of the plastic containers.
One easy recipe with two of these ingredients-For guacamole-mash an avocado with cottage cheese, diced onion, cilantro, squeeze of lemon or lime and anything else you wished to season with.
If you are going to eat yogurt and fermented foods, read 'Super Gut' or watch video's from Dr. William Davis MD. It will give you some of the best information you need to understand it's importance.
there's no point of getting pasteurized dairy. although I suppose if that's all you have access to, if it's 100% grass fed, organic etc then that's a different story. But still, gotta go raw.
His rules are fairly simple too - no sugar, no artificial add-ons and no inflammatory ingredients (such as oils). Aka just avoid the entire middle of your grocery store!
@@ManiacalMangoes he's approved many things with sugar. He contradicts himself constantly. Following his advice is enough to make your head spin and fall off.
Thank. you Bobby and love the information you give us and I have for three years learned so much from you. My doctor told me to eat more veggies. Thank you Bobby so much.
Making yoghurt is the easiest thing. Just buy yoghurt yeast, put it in the milk, keep it wait in a warm place. After 12 hours, your yoghurt is ready. Super cheap.
The blue yoghurt Mountain is also Bobby approved and has tons of living bacteria. You can see it on the left of the yoghurt shelves in the video. Our Costco business center sells it which makes it incredibly cheap
The wide range of the healthiest foods is staggering. Enjoy that, as other countries do not. Can't seem to get any unpasteurised sauerkraut for example. Home made is the way to go for us.
Making your own yogurt, kefir and sour cream is pretty darn easy and less expensive. Plus you can put it in glass containers and have total control and no plastic!

You just need cabbage, salt, a clean container and a dry and dark spot of the kitchen where to store it
Making food from scratch or buying in bulk from places like Azure standard is the way to go
I love you Bobby Parrish! Keep up the great work. We need you!!!
I grew up eating sugar cane plants I’m doing fine 108lbs. It’s okay to eat with some sugar as long as you have control not to overeat
Good to know about heating sauerkraut
I love the Two Good brand of yogurt and smoothies! Two grams of sugar (stevia) per serving and all their flavors are amazing.
Literally just ordered his vitamin c and the D3 supplements!! So excited!!!
@winemaplesyrupcoconutsugar Are you a hater?
@RazorRichFitnessOfficial He said I wasted my money.
@@charleeghee7195 I would sure hope so. Thanks for the replies.😊😊😊😊
Love lifeway! So happy they have a grassfed whole milk one !
1st time I have seen that one!
I’ve been buying it at the Boca store for a while . Love the meat dept there… they are so helpful!
Do you know if they pasteurize then ferment or ferment then pasteurize?
@@jjjjjj4361 I would guess pasteurized and then fermented since it is Bobby approved . It is also supposed to be really good for bone health.
I've started to ferment my kefir with organic half and half. OMHeavens... yummy 😋
Thanks Bobby great video, and nicely presented, I attest Avacados are amazing for health and gut I do really well with them
I just had my first Sauerkraut today, and and kimchi , tasted so good and I feel mentally better after consuming it so probiotics are doing their things
I find goat milk yogurt, especially the St Helen’s one in the UK, very tasty and refreshing , more so than any other yogurt, smells very fresh too, it helps my gut , and a warmed glass of goat milk helps me have good bowel movements etc
Thank you for doing this video. I have gastritis and this video is a big help.
If you heat up cottage cheese-say you mix it with eggs before cooking-does it diminish the benefits as it would if you heated up sauerkraut?
Thanks for the Coconut Cult suggestion...I refuse to eat dairy anything!
Ok Bobby, so I just used your app and I'm proud to say atleast 90 %of my seasonings are Bobby approved. Unfortunately about 5% of my pantry is Bobby approved and I'd rather not talk about the refrigerator 😂 I'll get there.
😂😂😂
I LOVE kefir...I used to make it and the tangy taste and the feeling on your tongue is so pleasurable!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I love learning about this stuff.
Making your own kefir and double fermenting it is soooo much cheaper not to mention fun!!!
My animals love it too!
Thank you for all the good info you pass on. I have started eating kimchi at least once a day. The KOREANS do it most meals.
Dose matters. Some of this is a bit over the top. I try to eat healthy, not perfect, and exercise everyday. I’m not convinced that overthinking anything in life is worth it.
Like your cottage cheese /sauerkraut combo on sandwiches. Sounds unusual but I'll try it, as I'm bored with cheese/turkey/ mustard sandwiches. Thanks for your video.
Plane Kefir mixed with 1 table spoon of extra virgin olive oil , chia seeds is my concoction 👌
What a fun video! I think this is my fav product recommendation style video for yummy healthy foods! I love that you show us the products at the actual store too 💜 ✨
Thank you for showing a non dairy healthy option!!
Always keep Good Culture and Wildburne on hand. Never even thought to mix the 2 (little grossed out).
Jump to Now, Thank you Bobby I will be combining the 2 everytime. Oddly delicious pairing.
I just came across your channel & love the knowledge you're sharing to promote healthy eating ❤. THANKS BOBBY!!!
siggis yogurt (skyr or greek) is amazing and even less expensive than the big brands while being packed with protein.
Does your Costco have delivery? If so, give it a try.
My husband loves fermented foods especially the raw sauerkraut & kimchi you showed but was told to watch the salt. What are your thoughts?
I use Celtic Salt .
@@debbiec6216salt is salt
@@annalane5430 Thank you i will looking into this
I'd be living in complete ignorance without the Bobby Parrish channel.
A healthy microbiome
of thanks to you ⭐
According to the gut health md, wildbrine is not a good option because fermented foods should never be stored in plastic. He says always opt for glass containers. In the clip he he actually shows the wildbrine as one not to buy. He says the gases produced from fermented foods leach the chemicals straight out of the plastic containers.
This is one of your best videos ever!
thanks!
2 videos in and I think you’re amazing for the knowledge that you’re providing us!
My farmers market has a vender that sells tumeric kraut
Don't worry she puts black pepper in it too
It's delicious in fact I'm almost out of it
Please properly disclose, as required. In vid.. in description, etc. As a consumer, much appreciated!
I’ve been using kefir & Sauerkraut for last year or so, based on suggestion by Dr.Berg
At least Dr. Berg is educated
there's no point of getting pasteurized dairy. although I suppose if that's all you have access to, if it's 100% grass fed, organic etc then that's a different story. But still, gotta go raw.
@@Bridgetconnnnors when dairy is heated, its just destroying the beneficial nutrients
Bobby needs to open a grocery chain with only Bobby approved products!
❤
His rules are fairly simple too - no sugar, no artificial add-ons and no inflammatory ingredients (such as oils). Aka just avoid the entire middle of your grocery store!
@@ManiacalMangoes he's approved many things with sugar. He contradicts himself constantly. Following his advice is enough to make your head spin and fall off.
Thank. you Bobby and love the information you give us and I have for three years learned so much from you. My doctor told me to eat more veggies. Thank you Bobby so much.
Love that brand of sauerkraut. I get mine at Costco. I also get the kimchi.
The sauerkraut is on sale at Costco right now until the 18th! It’s twice the size of the regular tub you find elsewhere 😅
Wonderful information I can use to improve my health.
Please explain the biochemical process/reaction where sugar kills your immune system.
Making yoghurt is the easiest thing. Just buy yoghurt yeast, put it in the milk, keep it wait in a warm place. After 12 hours, your yoghurt is ready. Super cheap.
Any suggestions for a Daily dose for liver health? Egg, banana and Peppermint allergy
What about Kombucha? How much should I drink? Should I drink on an empty stomach or with food?
Thank you Bobby!❤️❤️❤️
Question: what is on that keto sandwitch??? Do you use keto bread for that?
Thank you very much for the information. Very useful
The blue yoghurt Mountain is also Bobby approved and has tons of living bacteria. You can see it on the left of the yoghurt shelves in the video. Our Costco business center sells it which makes it incredibly cheap
What is Costco business center? Different from the regular store?
@@Wendy-ce5gdyes. Think of it as the Costco of costcos. You buy bulk of bulk 😂 like instead of 24 eggs, you buy a crate of 5x24 eggs
The wide range of the healthiest foods is staggering. Enjoy that, as other countries do not. Can't seem to get any unpasteurised sauerkraut for example. Home made is the way to go for us.
