Great video, guys! In 1957, Atlas (Marvel) lost its publisher. They struck a deal with Independent News (who owned and distributed DC) to publish their comics. However, Independent News limited the number of titles they would publish (anywhere from 8 to 10 depending on the source you look at) so that they wouldn't compete against DC (which they owned). So, Atlas/Marvel would just rename a title when they switched the focus of the book so that they stayed within the number that Independent News would publish. Although Marvel would gradually increase the number of titles they released each month by the time their contract with Independent News expired, their move to Cadence Distribution in 1968 really allowed the number of titles each month to explode in the late 60s/early 70s. By the way... I love your Creature from the Black Lagoon shirt!
Got it! Great story! So I had the rough idea at least. That's so crazy though! This is where I got the shirt: www.teepublic.com/t-shirt/6857577-vintage-creature-from-the-black-lagoon
Loving the mix of intro songs and videos! Love the down to earth content and I think most people can relate to you guys and reasons for loving the characters that you do. Keep these great videos coming!
Another great video. I will have to check out Bronze Age Bill’s new book
Thank you so much, and that reminds me I have to put the Amazon link in the description! 😬
