I ruined a near mint 32 year old magazine (1992 release) that i've only ever seen 1 copy of sold and hunted for over 10 years (i won't say the title as it's adult orientated) with the stupid re-seal strip on the bag. Got stuck to the front cover pulled the gloss off on half the strip, worse thing is the cover is 60% jet black so sticks out like a sore thumb. THEN a few weeks later i had it out again to inventory it, no glue on the bag to stick...... laid it down top of another bag that i forgot was open pulled more gloss off but on the title this time, i don't even care about how it's lost value it's how the appearance is now ruined, I think some things of a physical nature are cursed haha. If i could get a magazine sized slab/case i'd put it in to never leave again. To cut a long story short i can see why yourself and others get them slabbed even without the grading, they are safe!! It was the tape that triggered my rant, automotive masking tape typically withstands 100℃ don't know Fahrenheit, so they don't gum up for a good amount of time. Also Kapton tape may be a good call, not to buy any as of yet, it has minimal amount of glue/residue, heat resistant so no adverse effects. Over and out... like a comic read this is.
@@dinxsy8069 I know Bronzeville Comics guy, Jim, uses one of those letter openers where the little point slips under the edge of the flap, and you just zip it across to cut it open. Lessons learned indeed :(

I live that book so much! I need to find more issues now!
Been getting broke on Dave Stevens cover😭😭😭😭
I have SO FAR avoided going down that rabbit hole...I'm trying to stay strong. My luck the bottom will fall out the minute I start buying them 🤣

HOLY. SHIT. That story made me feel sick. That's awful...I'm so sorry.
@@SwarmofComics Lesson learnt my end. Any bag that has the strip used i now cut off.
