  • Probably the single most important and largest mechanic that will determine any run is alignment. There are four different alignment combinations with different strengths and weaknesses, even different playstyles. In this video I cover all of these to help you decide which one you want to play.
    Time Stamps:
    0:00 - Intro
1:21 - Old Faith vs Christian and Tyrant vs Rightful
    6:29 - Rightful Old Faith
    9:54 - Tyrant Christian
    15:47 - Rightful Christian
    18:57 - Tyrant Old Faith
    23:05 - Ranking the Alignments

I'm planning on doing a Neutral-heroes-only run (since I don't use them very much) and was wondering which alignment would be best for that sort of run, so this video is very well timed for me :)
I think you sold me on the Old Faith / Tyrant quadrant. Seems great for making sure you have enough resources for the items you want to buy.
One thing to point out for the Christian / Rightful quadrant is that the hero missions are (in my opinion) generally more difficult. On my first run the White Knight, Lucan, and Lancelot missions really caught me off guard xD

Hell yea, another dub for Old-faith Tyrant 💪. I used Balin, Mordred, Ector, and Kay until I got Morgana. Then I switched to Morgana, Dragonet, Morgawse, and Mordred and started to one turn kill entire encounters or bar them off with an ice wall and wait for cooldowns (so just classic xcom 2 playstyle). I knew that the Black Knight's jump is really good, but, for the (low) amount of health in the main story, a champion's stacking just wasn't needed for me. I wouldn't replay the game again (still have other tactical TBS games in line to play), but great review on alignments.

Great video! I personally feel like Rightful+Old Faith is probably the best for a 1st run, mostly due to the reasons you exposed. As long as you realize the value of Ector and the Unsettling Visitor early on, there's not much room to screw up on your decisions on that quadrant.
Tyrant alignments have more nuance, precisely due to Wartime Levies and Purse of Gold. Both decrees demand for you to know what you're doing on a macro level, which is honestly impossible to do as you're discovering the game. They're a lot more enjoyable once you're a little more knowledgeable, for sure.
    A personal digression:
Isolde is perfectly usable both in T/OF if you want buffing support and (due to the same reasons Merlin is workable) in T/C. Gotta be mindful of Impious, though.

    • @maxxalos1267

  • @quickpawmaud

Tyrant Old Faith gets Lady Isolde so really they have everything. I thought I would not like Tyrant but it is pretty good. I think it also is probably what Mordred would choose.

not knowing what I was doing i just chose rightful for Lancelot and christian for Galahad....and just embraced what it was. On certain levels i ran 2 defenders a sage (Lucan) with a Champion for beefy groups, vanguard for spread out groups, and Ector for cannon fodder and summoning groups.
I was unkillable with all the buffs from (Lucan + Galahad + Percivale) and unleashed either White Knight, or Boudecia in that back line. Im sure it took longer but I pretty much rolled the game and endgame save for a handful of levels that expose your movement / range limitations. Otherwise i called my top 7 the meat grinder.

After playing through the missions where you fight the tyrant unlockable characters, I wouldn't like to play with black knight and red knight due to not liking playing "evil" characters.

I am disagreeing about crist/tyr... It has best hero selection possibility if u ask me... because of purse of gold decree... Negative Traits of Merlin and Lady Isodel can be used for advantage (ungear them, activite Decree, gear them agein). With that in mind: u have ur 2 Arcanists and 1 of the best sages. Neutral Heroes like Vangards Lady Boudicea and Sir Tristan will be much better. So Vangards are there...White and Black Knight -best Champs... Same story with Defenders... Let's not forget about traits that improve court tittles, best of them are in this Alignment if u aske me... But of course it not Alignment for new players...

  • @fredflinstone8628
    @fredflinstone8628 หลายเดือนก่อน

I thought the whole morality concept was irrelevant and a wasted mechanic. This was a common weakness in the game as I have the same feeling about training ground, merchant, loyalty, and the economics in general. The fact is that you never really have issues with money and inventory/loot is your typical excessive choice. The reality is you cannot have a large number of characters at the same level as some quickly fall behind and training doesn't ever allow them to catch up enough. Because of this, the difficulty spikes push you into a limited number of actually useful characters on hand. Ranger is useless. Later in the game the sheer number of enemies is what limits the game further as area attacks become mandatory. The extra missions after completing the main story are perfect example of poor game design when the game counters your srongest melee characters by throwing 30 enemies at you within one turn of movement. I started the game really excited and ended it with meh because so many game mechanics were wasted and didn't really add anything, difficulty spikes were annoying, and they spammed you with volume instead of making more diverse, powerful and interesting enemies. You fight the same Picts at the end as the beginning just with more HPs and more of them.
