  • I have some people asking about team building advice, usually when they start to reach the endgame. So I thought making a video talking about how I view team building and giving some general advice on how I approach it may be helpful for any players struggling to figure out where to begin with their own theory crafting.

    I think that due to the various 'black sheep' characters in the game, the better way to look at team building is not necessarily on a class basis but rather skill basis instead. For example say you want a buffing hero, what you really mean is that you want bless and inspire mostly. So if your defender for example has 1 of those skills than you don't need a sage to have it. In which case you can either use a different class or use a sage without this core skill because you have it covered elsewhere. Same goes for the lightning based arcanists for example, which you can replace with Mordred, so if you use him you can go with a different arcanist or a different class altogether. Basically you want to have access to as many of the core skills available rather than a specific class setup. This is typically the result of a 'black sheep' type character, which all classes have, so having 2 of the same class(1 regular and 1 black sheep) can bring completely different things to the table and make other classes a bit redundant(unless using a black sheep of that class too).

    This is some very nice insight for those of us how are still on their first playthrough of the game!
    I was recently going over the roster that I'm keeping and want to get to the point where I have two teams that play drastically different. I'd like to make use of those "black sheep" characters that you were talking about because they're so unique and look fun!

      @@user-do3ft2nf5n Currently I just got Sir Dagonet and have been trying to make him work in a Mordred - Black Knight - Tristain group. The other group that I'm trying out is Brunor - Bedivere - Isolde - Morgowse. These guys I play around traps, funneling enemies in and trying to keep away. I'm around level 14. I'm experimenting alot and can't wait to unlock Red Knight and Faerie Knight. And Boudicea.

      @@cristiansabac8698 Your team comp is suck! You need to comp your Dagonet and any mage with death hex with vanguard with assassination trait for that jussy 40% health damage. So Tristan is just debufer, not a dd.

    On my current run Balan is getting 5-8 single kills each turn (granted this is because of equipment) I have equipment that gives them a free attack on an adjacent enemy when they get a kill, as well as 4 ap for the first kill each turn plus 1 for every kill. In addition to that he auto teleports to the next enemy within 8 spaces. (Also a great skill to avoid the freeze effect of the unseelie on death).

      I'm not familiar with gear that grants a free attack on a kill, but I know there is a skill that does this in tier 3. The TP on kill gear though is like game breakingly strong imo.

    Hey I have a super weird question: when an accessory says +(x) poison damage or fire damage... does that mean that in addition to your normal hit you get that bonus? Or does it mean IF you are already doing damage of that type, then you get the bonus?

      It means that you have to be dealing that damage to begin with and when you do, it will get a bonus to its damage. So someone like Mordred is never going to get use out of an item that provides a bonus to poison damage. Thank you, I'm glad you enjoy the content :)

    I was looking for that kind of video, but until now there was nothing. The question mostly arose when you get more characters in the beginning: archanist or marksman, when you first get sage, whom does they replace? Had to figure out it on my own. I mostly use the team comp that you described - Def Champ Arc Sage.

      Bors has a higher performance ceiling but requires soul merchant gear to reach it. Yvain has a higher floor and will probably be a bit better if you don't plan to buy that soul merchant gear.

      still not great unless you get really specific gear with them

      @@Jhin_Wick the soul merchant gear is actually really really good and can make your marksman very strong in the endgame. marksman can actually get access to a few pieces of gear that grant a chance to do double damage. its a little rng based but if you get lucky and stack these effects it can be fairly consistent. if you build your team around debuff stacking and giving them gear to deal extra damage against debuffed targets they can also do alright. You can make them work, it's just generally easier or more efficient to use something else.

    The only real thing I hated about this game was having to completely delete a team member.

      I can understand that, it's a fairly polarizing mechanic. I personally like the limitation on roster size and having to commit to who you want to keep. I get why others don't though.

    hmmm nothing up until now could face the massiv damage that champions and vanguards do. Arcanists take away a slot that is massivly needed for chars that can cast icewall and other buffs. like for example Isolde. this is the best working combo in any difficulty , plus it is autonomous to items. Good items will further these abilities , but no matter if blue, green or legendary you will always find enough stuff to pimp your champion or even Mordred . For mordred 4 example there is a defender item, that gives you 5 or even more + damage if you kill something with a movement skill. with only minor preperation Mordred can smack up unreal damage by dashing across the map. The white knight can actually have unlimited AP and clean whole maps alone. and even in the lategame when monster have 500 -1000 life that still works and vanguards do between 250-500 damage with their openers. i really do not see any need for an arcanist there.

      101 is a term used in american schooling systems to indicate that it is the basic course. So in this context it means "the basics of team building"

    I always go with 1 defender 1 ranged and 2 champion or 2 vanguard

      You shouldn't have many issues going through the game with that comp

      @@maxxalos1267 Unless my arcanists are wounded and i am left with archers as a ranged option 😄.
      İ also noticed that if i went with 2 vanguards defenders take more damage because of more idle turn.
      When i went with 2 champions my damage output is high but champions ability to tank decreases towards the end of missions.
