Good point. To me Wo Long was a risky venture by Team Ninja. They really tried to base the whole game around deflection but it's a singular mechanic that limits the rest of the combat. Sekiro was able to do this by varying bosses and focusing on the overall story and gameplay experience. These areas are not Team Ninja's strongpoints. Good effort by TN and I hope their next game will be great.
The problem with the bosses is the same as the big bosses in the main game, in that the way to win is that you have to wait for a critical, deflect it, make a couple of quick moves, then back off. for the most part with these bosses you always have to play passively. if you play aggressively, you pretty much always get punished. yes, you have new moves to learn, but you're only learning them so you can avoid them, and wait for the red light of a crit move to start. I blazed through the first dlc a couple weeks ago and I can barely distinguish any of it from the base game outside of the new enemy types, which was still very lacking. This game is a mixed bag for me because I think the combat and bosses are genuinely badass, but the story, enemy variety, level design, and the overall game structure was a huge letdown. Still a decent purchase, but the whole thing could’ve been so much better.
And then they made it even worse with the final sub mission. An even more buffed and over powered version of the F tier boss from before. Feels like so much of this game is just missed potential. Played it twice. Performance issues, lack of enemy variety, weapon variety (imo) and a disappointing DLC. I was hoping I’d like this after being disappointed by stranger of paradise. But as someone who loves Nioh 1 &2, I hope Team Ninja strikes it out with their next title.
Getting kind of sad. I got Wo Long because the Parry system similar to Sekiro interested me but, I don't know. Debating on getting the Season Pass for all DLC but the more I hear about it the less inclined I become.
If you haven't decided yet I can give you insight it is very lackluster. Pretty boring honestly, the only big diff in the new difficulty is the level gap between missions.
Agreed. Played it today and i only got frustrated. This video is spot on. And every negative point he said is true. Save your money for something else.
They just need to make nioh 3, strangers of paradise got better dlc 1 treatment. And that's without the new mobs. Nioh 2 was such an excellent game even with its looter flaw.
At the very least with the General of Heaven Illusion fight is that you can counter the summon spells with your own spells that counter that element. Still not a great fight tho
Exactly the dlc didn't have any improvements compared to the base game(Which i really enjoyed) and the bosses actually sucked by making them hard with no meaning and diyng after receiving 2-3 hits
Melee and weapon arts should have been more viable. Its hardly worth doing anything other than spamming spells. Also morale is just kinda trash but too late to scrap it at this point. Oh well we still have nioh
as someone who had 1500+ hours in nioh 2 i knew this game wouldn't be any good after playing the demo, it just felt really unfinished and the combat was no where as good as nioh 2, i wish they just made nioh 3 instead of this sad sekiro ripoff with nioh elements
to be fair, wo long is made by team b of team ninja, they don't have experience in making tight action game like team a (team a are those guys who made ninja gaiden and nioh series), they have only developed dynasty warrior so far
Well if this is true, it explains a lot. They dont know how to balance difficulty either IMO. Every hard fight in this game is only hard because they make it unfair(more than 1 boss enemy or cheesy one shots).
They didn't even fix the chance to get more than 4 & 3 tier gear and 6 tier isn't even that fells unless. Reinforcements go down too quick to be able destroy the 2 boss spawners. And absolutely hate the final boss
A shame the dlc isn't great. I might still get it but only if it goes on sale along with the other dlc since I'm guessing there's gonna be more than one for Wo Long. Would love to see a ranking for Final Fantasy 16 bosses. Don't know if you've played those games but I think you would love the bosses in 16.
Yeah there's two more dlc coming in September and December but honestly? I heard that Team Ninja was great "delivering" great DLCs but in So Long case I can't really tell. 😦
Correct me if im wrong but what ive seen from strangers of paradise and nioh is that the endgame content usually becomes alot after all 3 dlc have dropped i think everything people say abiut leaving this game is cap
3:05 the recommended level is only low because your in the base game on crouching dragon… go to new game ++ on soaring dragon and then tell me what the recommended level is and how difficult it is
Huh? 99 percent of players are never going to do this DLC or anything else on rising or soaring dragon…. This is a review of the standard experience that the DLC offers which is what a vast majority of the people playing will experience it as.
My point was… at that part of the video you made it seem like the DLC was to easy… by saying the recommended Lvl was only 93 & 100… and how you said that usually the dlc is meant for endgame content not mid game… I was just letting it be known since you didn’t… that if anyone including you finds the dlc too easy… then it ain’t nun to just quickly jump into new game + and fight them at lvl 272… because there they did not do him a disservice with the scaling
@@averagegam3r118 but again, that’s not what he’s referring to so it doesn’t even matter. The standard experience is what 99 percent of people will play, so it being that low level for the first 2 missions doesn’t make sense. Of course it’s scaled better on new game plus and higher, that’s the point of new game plus. And again that’s not what he’s talking about so it literally doesn’t matter.
Even Yatsu no Kami better than DLC GEnEral of Heaven. Split out intentionally can have multiple ways to counter but yet more suitable challenging than this living shite
The point of the dlc is the content experience in ng++. All of the negative reviews I've seen about this are people who haven't done any of the ng++ content. Sorry you don't enjoy the game. I love it and think this game took all the best things of nioh2 and made a more polished game. Great video layout and audio though!
Saying “a more polished game” than Nioh is a flat out lie. The DLC was not that good. Wasn’t terrible but it’s not that much new content. And it was quite short.
How "good" is DLC then? When it contributes less than nothing? NIOH 2 DLC at least got a proper story to it explaining more details about the time travel and Yokai history. Even the crucial yelling point that gamers always needed is SWITCHING MARTIAL ARTS between weapons isn't showing up. How beach is that? What took so long for their braincell to process or putting their shoes in the gamers experience? Sure that they added "Switching active MA buttons for one single weapon" which had to have since the beginning, their contribution to perfect the game till this day still zill - zero - none. Bore the shite out of the game with end game content when the gamers have to focus on GRINDING for Levels like a dead zombie, plus frustrating towards 5 stars 6 stars items that have shitty enchantment + the randomness of every fricking drop rate from every enemies (without a pacific list what kind of drop do you get out of farming)
Their animation length + effectiveness are the crucial thing they needed to improve. So many 5 stars weapons i have collected with shitty MA because either the MA is impractical or too long to cast and use less than 1 time in combat
@@zwei3179 Not to mention the drop rate, NG++ but still get 2 stars 3 stars drop :). Why the F is that happening? Even Nioh 2's drop rate for Ethereal do more work than this.
I brouhht it after hearing the bad reviews just because i love the game and want to see a sequel. I could never get into Nioh because of the insane difficulty. This game i loved as a lover of sekiro. But damn did they make some terrible game design decisions with missions, levelling and loot and story. I seriously dont know what crack pipe the devolpers are smoking to think this is good, its like theyve never played any other game before. Story writting team should be fired as well as the people who hired them
Story is the same as Nioh albeit still worse because it just reuses the same evil old wizard, it’s definitely not something you should be looking for in these games lol
Team ninja has always been this "quality" with their story lol. Dont expect anything from them in this aspect. Rise of the ronin looks like it might bucks the trend though.
DLC was shit, needs new spells etc as Poison & Lightning spells are useless now, it needs a better drop rate for 6* armour & weapons as I'm sick of fighting that big ape non stop. I'm basically farming abit just to get those & then I'm done until the next installment of DLC. Ps that big white boss gets melted with fire.
@@Darealpokgai the new spells drop randomly, you have to grind non stop to try to get them & they're shit anyway. Poison is trash, I have my poison build up to 300 poison damage & it's useless, the spells aren't great compared to fire, ice or earth.

All 3 DLCs are fucking terrible. I was never near this frustrated or annoyed by the base game. Bosses are a fucking joke.
Wow..its make sense now..thanks for ur information
They didn't even fix the chance to get more than 4 & 3 tier gear and 6 tier isn't even that fells unless. Reinforcements go down too quick to be able destroy the 2 boss spawners. And absolutely hate the final boss
Nioh was peak Team Ninja
A shame the dlc isn't great. I might still get it but only if it goes on sale along with the other dlc since I'm guessing there's gonna be more than one for Wo Long.
Would love to see a ranking for Final Fantasy 16 bosses. Don't know if you've played those games but I think you would love the bosses in 16.
Yeah there's two more dlc coming in September and December but honestly? I heard that Team Ninja was great "delivering" great DLCs but in So Long case I can't really tell. 😦
@@tngaming50yeah this one wasn’t very good, hopefully it’s because they’re mainly focusing on their new game instead of Wo Long
Correct me if im wrong but what ive seen from strangers of paradise and nioh is that the endgame content usually becomes alot after all 3 dlc have dropped i think everything people say abiut leaving this game is cap
Wo long is a good game on the inside, it’s just not really finished. The combat is pretty fun, but that’s really it.
thank you saved me $15 on the season pass
Well u do have to change the difficulty thats why u it was showing level 79 ur playing on lowest difficulty
I like the game!
Is there a level missing? Ive 9/10 and no mission to unlock
sekiro itself has quite shorter playtime than other FromSoftware games for a reason
Yall crazy thos games slaps
Dk why they failed they had so much to go off and being team ninja should’ve been a good game but shts ass with the exception of Lu bu and Dian wei
yeah martial arts skills need a massive boost as right now they lack a lot of power
Their animation length + effectiveness are the crucial thing they needed to improve. So many 5 stars weapons i have collected with shitty MA because either the MA is impractical or too long to cast and use less than 1 time in combat
@@horizonblack8351 for me its just the damage isn't there hell we should be allowed to change the weapons arts
@@zwei3179 Not to mention the drop rate, NG++ but still get 2 stars 3 stars drop :). Why the F is that happening? Even Nioh 2's drop rate for Ethereal do more work than this.
@@horizonblack8351 yeah makes no sense, new game plus it should be 4 star and five star
++ should be five star and six star
Considering any more Resident Evil content? I really enjoyed your videos on it!
cool but your subjective stance is worthy of tree decoration status for yourself
This is why team ninja can't compete fromsoftware, armored core 6 is gonna blows wo long out of the water in terms of best action game
And it did
Team ninja has better combat systems than from software and from software has better world design and lore than team ninja.
This game really only suffers vecause people compare it to nioh.
I thought you died magicat
A lot of people can't even beat the first boss and say it sucks🤣🤣git gud noobs
DLC was shit, needs new spells etc as Poison & Lightning spells are useless now, it needs a better drop rate for 6* armour & weapons as I'm sick of fighting that big ape non stop. I'm basically farming abit just to get those & then I'm done until the next installment of DLC.
Ps that big white boss gets melted with fire.
there are new spell, and wtf u mean toxic and lightning are useless now, i apply them on enemy all the time and they helped a lot
@@Darealpokgai the new spells drop randomly, you have to grind non stop to try to get them & they're shit anyway. Poison is trash, I have my poison build up to 300 poison damage & it's useless, the spells aren't great compared to fire, ice or earth.
@@xThe13thWarrior u do kno toxic is to keep all debuff not going away right? not for the damage. My build can do toxic, fire, lightning and ice. and my marital art can do spirit defense debuff and defense debuff, so once toxic is applied, every aliment is gonna be stuck on the boss until toxic goes off, i just need to apply toxic again before those aliment goes off. so unless the boss has high resistance on certain element, i can do 6 debuff on boss for the whole fight. NG++ is all about apply element and debuff. Deflect thos shit is kind of like bonus.
@@xThe13thWarrior in case u wanna kno how i do 4 element. I have virtue of fire and metal very high (using Guiding blade), so my fire and toxic magic can apply aliment very quick. And i have my weapon embed with Water. and I have my wood at least at 12, so i have imbue lightning magic. And then u need to have the buff that increase accumlation for element (i think metal at 9 can have this buff). Then Martial art buff and defuff can get from accessory perk, weapon perk, gear set and gurdian animal.
@@Darealpokgai Fair enough if that works for you, you want to go in & just fight these bosses on Soaring Dragon difficulty & the fight lasting 20 minutes, then that's good for you, personally I don't, I wipe the majority of enemies out very quicky with my fire build & ice build, I beat the monkey on hardest difficulty in 5 seconds with the fire build. Anyway each to their own, poison for me is pointless, lightning too & the new spells ate crap.
I think this game has the best combat design, but the bosses are so bad lmao including this dlx
But wo long better when lies of p....
such a wasted potential. the combat was amazing
If Wo Long was more like DS2, then maybe it would actually be good.
Games es other than lui bu
Peak
Where is the ds2 content we crave?
Wo long isn't a run off from nioh because nioh is it's own franchise, wo long is based off DYNASTY WARRIORS
This game was so garbage compared to nioh 2
I don't get ppl complain about enemies getting stale while they spam same buttons, same moves, same weapon in elden ring
Because Elden Ring has more enemies than Nioh, Nioh 2 and Wo Long combined.
@@magicat7356 Yet you use r1 and circle against all, and all soldiers have same AI and move sets just with different cloth
Elden Ring has many other things going for it. Gorgeous art style, good music, BOTW inspired exploration, fantastic magic. ER is an evolution of the Dark Souls formula, whereas WL is a devolution of Nioh.
@@nyesExpress ''Art style'' hahahahaha, ''exploration" hahahahahahahaha "fantastic magic" hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
ER is boring as F
@@amr0017 To each their own I suppose
They are too busy adding pronouns to the western version, while making a version without for the Saracens and Chinese!
i wish team ninja work on their map/art design more in future games because they know how to make a sick deep and fun combat system but lack the cool aesthetic ad level design is just to genric, this problem was always there even in ninja gaiden
i wish we get a game with nioh 2 combat and darksoul/bloodborne like art direction and level design
No offense.. this game sucks!
