Here in Italy Giotto Bizzarrini is a legend! Still alive, he’s 96 now. He worked for Lamborghini (on the project Miura along with Stanzani, Dallara and Gandini), Ferrari and Iso Rivolta. Master Engineer!
Sadly, you must have got this comment in before his death May 13, 2023 (aged 96). I hope that in Italy he was well remembered and his life celebrated. I checked the Top Gear Lap times and its staggering to see which modern cars could only just beat this car and how many could not and it felt like the Stig wasn't really going near the limits at times, but then maybe even the Stig could appreciate just how great of a car this is.
@@tonywilson4713 Yes Tony, you’re right. He passed away just a few months afterwards. The car community honored his memory, but indeed I was hoping for a more official public tribute. Most of the youngsters don’t even know his name. A bit sad.
On this track, 3 maniacs in there 40 and 50s 6 years ago, drove ambulances, Porsche's, classic cars and modified police cars 1 even with a piece of metel sticking out the rear axle, they were, Jeremy,James,Hamonddddd. And even tho I didn't watch them during the when I watched them now here, I wish I was watching them, We will never forgot the top gear trio

Near priceless classics from this era race at Goodwood regularly and at Laguna Seca during the Rolex events in August and they are racing hard, you'd think they were racing Miata's in a SCCA event not cars in the 7 figures.
@TwinTurbo Ray what I’ve seen of classic car racing is usually heritage races. Like the Le Mans Classic. Didn’t know there were racing series for these cars.
Bizzarini was the real talent behind the most iconic cars made in Italy in the 60s, from Ferrari to Lamborghini to Iso. While he had the talent, people don't buy talent, they buy brands. Amazing what a Chevy V8 can sound like with Weber carbs.
That is skilled driving at its best! The baddest Italian car you've never heard of. When I first saw it on Jay Leno's Garage it was love at 1st sight 😍😎🙌 thank you Top Gear for a video with the absence of silly commentary or pointless guitar noise👍

60s Sports Cars.... nothing compares. They were the complete package in terms of what the perfect car is, classy styling, raw power, needed real skill to extract speed from. That's a real car.
It's amazing to think that, at one time, the Italian auto industry was putting out cars like this but their paint industry could only make the colour red.

I am scared for the Stig and I'm not even driving the thing lol. How squirrelly that thing gets under braking just makes me nervous as hell. Such a beautiful machine though and a soundtrack to match.
This dirty V8 sound beats every new cars sound 100x times. For me this sounds even better then Carrera GT or LFA .. or atleast is an another class of sound. I have goosebumps.
I'd love to see a few comparison times with some of the other, contemporary cars that have run the course. But, at the end of the day I'd take this car over all others.
It is indeed beautiful, it's pretty much from the same designer who designed the most beautiful car in the world, period... the legendary Ferrari 250 GTO Series 1!
It amaze me that bizzarrini could could build this car back then without computers or wind tunnels or engineers that performed that well and looked that beautiful
No Clackson or anyone jabbering -- this is EXCELLENT. If Clackson ever becomes a CAR then and only then will it be satisfactory to hear his hot air clacking about.
Can you put an F40/F40 LM or Porsche 911 GT1 on the track? One could dream! Old TG wouldn't give the F40 a time. Instead it was just fake smoke for a gag.

I'm glad this has been brought back. The "drift stig" skidding everything around was just not right for the TGTT.
