in 2008, brabus made a 730bhp engine. in 2008, the bbc could only achieve 144p
Mercedes doesn't limit it's cars to 155 mph because of the components. It's because of the Gentlemans Agreement.
Blue Collar Power correct, this car is not like that however, it is limited at a much higher 219mph as Jeremy said and that is for component protection

@@lookbehindyousuka the problem are the tires. My former boss drove an Audi RS6 with 700hp which was also limited to 340kph to keep the tires from bursting. And they were very expensive.
This is why land speed records use specially forged metal wheels since you don't need fuel economy or a smooth drive. The speed at which the wheel has to turn is one of the biggest limiters for speed on cars.
I know it's a little too late for this response but didn't they disband that agreement in the early 2000's?

This was the best era for German cars. E39 M5 / E46 M3 / E52 Z8 ultimate driving machines with balanced interior design. W211 E55 had a unique supercharged V8, SL65/S65 had brutal hp/tq for the time, Audi cars were also very special back then. Porsche 911 GT3 was manual only... GT2 was terrifying to drive . Volkswagen was putting 6cyl engines into Golfs. Passat had an available 8cylinder engine. Touareg had a V10 TDI. All the cars were fucking sick. Don't get me started on the exotics ...
@@sasazapadnik9335 Audi put the 6.0L V12 TDi in the Q7. Basically so Audi could use this engine in their LMP1 car for 24hrs of Le Mans.
The torque was the amazing part (ofcourse Cummins diesel's make more torque but that's a truck engine, the Audi engine is designed for a production SUV).
I've actually seen one of these in Rome. Damn that thing was loud.

With all my respect you are also wrong. The 6.3 L Brabus SL Sv12s is based on the Mercedes SL600 that has a 5.5 L . It is not based on the 6.0 L Mercedes SL65 AMG.

You dont need a traction control system or four wheel drive if wanna launch the car fast all u have to do is have thicker wider tires that arent low profile then u would launch like hell this is rear wheel drive so only for the rear otherwise acceleration is slow if u put front thick tires, personally i really hate it when car manufacturers limit their cars, honestly some cars have so much horsepower and theyr limited to 155mph(200 kmph) so whats the point of all that power a golf gti goes faster than 155 mph

No, it's in lb/ft.
It can produce 1320 Newtonmeter (Nm), but it's electronicly limited to 1100 Nm.
Such an amount of torque is insane, that's why you're forgiven for thinking Jeremy's values were in Nm.

The standard SL 65 that Brabus is based on already has just over 1000 Nm of torque 🤣. You're better off having the SL 55 actually, much more usable than this ridiculousness.

Joel Schembri no it doesn't turn the ABS off and customers can turn the traction control off. The AMG GT r even has a ten step button for that.
Joel Schembri I thought you were talking about Mercedes performance vehicles since those are the kind of cars where you want to turn off traction control. But a non AMG Mercedes probably doesn't turn off the traction control completly.
This was so because Mercedes knew the kind of people buying them don't want them to end up like Mustang drivers hitting crowds.
Nah I'm just kidding but after all these are GT cars, not full on supercars. On most cars nowadays (even basic cars) have TCS that have to be held for 5 secs before it turns off.

Salam A. New Mercdes are awful and go wrong all the time. I hired a new Alfa Romeo and a new Mercedes E220 cdi and I swear the Merc went wrong three times in gearbox and the Alfa kept going
Ferraris are very unreliable when they are driven daily or even left sitting. Check out superspeedersrob channel. He has a few Ferarris and they always cause him headaches. I have a 2005 Mercedes E320, it has 250k miles and it still runs great. Its only left me stranded once when the fuel filter got clogged up and killed the fuel pump. Other than that besides normal wear and tear parts the car runs great.
from an engineering aspect, Mclaren and Koenigsegg are both quite impressive and are good rivals for the best Germany Has to offer (especially McLaren)

Notice the date of upload, HD wasn't available back then. TH-cam was still in its infancy back in 2008 and was nowhere near the size the site is today.

Torque is the ONLY thing I look for in a car

It is also stupid to beleive that only a torque rating is what determines performance. Your power band and the torque multiplcation of your gearing are not whimiscal and emphemeral wisps of fluff. And yes, I do own an automobile that made well over 500 lb/ft of torque from the factory.
You don't need (a lot of) torque on a car, only power. Torque is useful with heavy vehicles such as big trucks or locomotives.
julosx Well Torque is useful standing uphill on a red light with passengers who eat too many burger kings. And you got a small trailer with all the new kitchen equipment on including but not exclusive to a coffee machine and also maybe the foundation of an outdoor swimming pool, you know the small friendly ones you sit in and not the posh ones you dive in.
I have never heard of a Sl65 to have 515 HP. From what I am looking at they all have 600HP. Where is he getting that from ?

I don't understand how Merc AMG cars always tend to have high amounts of torque? Why? It it because of their heavy overall weight? If so, why do all high-power Mercs weight more than 1.6 tons? Especially this R230 SL, it weighs around 2 whole tons. Crazy.
I do like what AMG did with the SLS Black. They reduced the torque while adding more horsepower. One of the reasons why it has more grip coming around corners.

WuWei Xu you can have a turbocharged engine and still have a moderate amount of torque, like for instance, a Mazda RX-7 or a BMW M4. The engines of those cars are turbocharged but have very balanced power and torque figures. I just don't understand why AMG tends to make the engines they put on Mercs to have ludicrous amounts of torque. Making a street-legal road car with 1000ft.lb or 811ft.lb of torque is just ridiculous. There is no street-legal car on Earth that can handle that amount of power.

Both the Veyron and the Brabus SL can pump out around 1000ft.lb of torque yes, but there's a very good reason why the Veyron costs more than 1M Euros and the Brabus SL doesn't cost more than 500k Euros.
why are they have? Because Mercedes is 1ST OF ALL a luxury car, it never wanted to be a sports car to beat it arround corners. You can travel in this thing hundreds and hundreds of kilometers without a problem...

@@greathey1234 I know I'm 2 years late. But they generally do mean 12 pistons each. Search up Brabus 12piston brakes and you can see 6 circle dimples on each side of the caliper not both sides added up. Mental brakes. Can only imagine you could stop quicker if you hit a wall.
The SL is one of the best sports cars ever made
Brabus can tune up any car! I drive a 1998 S500 which is not made for racing at all but with a minor strip of body weight and a Brabus tune up, it left a 2011 335i coupe in the dust! An amazing 320 horsepower after tune ups and since it was a very heavy car before the strip down, a full 700 foot pounds of tork! It's a killer

well... or may be not... may be it is based on the M275 Mercedes engine for the 600 range which is 5.5L indeed, not on the M275AMG engine for the 65AMG range of models which has slightly modified stroke 93 instead 87 mm and increased to 6.0L displacement...

In SL 600 was used M275 engine - 6.0L V12 and the 5.4L V8...
and actually the 5.5V12 is in production from later year 2005 when the 6.0 V12 is from 2003... but it is quite complicated really :)

How weak the cars have been back then. ;) For me the Brabus philosophy was as close to Jeremies' soul and passion, a car could possibly get. Based on an ultraconservatice, almost boring brand, but as vulgar, loud and absolutely unnecessary as it can get. Speeeed- and powerish to a new level of burlesque. Can I destroy a set of tyres at one traffic light. Yes, I can!

Travis Berry The Koenigsegg Regera can get to its top speed of 249 MPH in less than 20 seconds. To compare, it takes a Porsche 918, another hybrid supercar, 23 seconds to reach 186 MPH. It goes from 93 MPH to 155 MPH in 3.2 seconds.

Kompressor (German) is actually a supercharger (English) in some of the petrol engines of Mercedes. CLC 200 Kompressor is an example (petrol), instead of CLC 220 CDI (Common-rail Direct Injection - diesel fuel only).
He got his stats wrong with the car in the studio- Of that car is the SL65 - then Mercedes gave it 600bhp stock - the SL63 was given 525bhp

Thats because the engine in the Huayra is based on the engine in this specific car, both uses 6.0 L Twin Turbo AMG V12s :)
