Edinburgh is a very beautiful town and has a lovely countryside. I have been there three times once when I was a little girl in the mid 1980s and in 2011 and 2012. Edinburgh is a very hilly city. I remember that my father and I had to climb up a hill to visit Edinburgh castle.
I had an experience once staying in a hostel 'mixed' dorm in central London about 2-3 years ago. I was solo traveling. I checked in and went to the room, which was an 8 bed mixed dorm room, and there was 4 guys, 3 were together in their early 20's and one was in his mid 40's. Non of them were very friendly or sociable. I don't think I've ever felt more uncomfortable or unsafe in my whole life. Nothing happened in the 3 nights I stayed there, however if something were to happen, it would have been 4 men agains me and they would have had no problem taking advantage of me. Ladies, please be careful solo travelling. If you're staying solo at a hostel please try to book into the "female only" dorms. Just better to be safe and avoid any possible dangerous situations. I will be booking female only dorms from now on.

@@HollyGabrielle I was really kicking myself for allowing myself to be in a potentially dangerous situation and having not done something about it as soon as I realised (eg ask to move to another dorm). I promised myself if never put myself in that situation again. You just can’t be too safe these days. However Holly I’m very glad to know you made friends with some of the guys in your dorm, the two in this vlog seemed very friendly. 😊

Another awesome travel vlog beautiful Holly. Yes, Scotland is quite windy & rainy. No they don't set off the canon to scare everybody in Edinburgh and tourists. Holly it would be great to see Holly travel to other areas of Scotland. Love 🥰 the vlog and love 💞 Holly. Thankfully I am not offended with Holly calling us Scot's crazy for swimming in the beach when it's windy ( I am one of those crazy Scot's).
Yeah the social anxiety is keeping me from traveling solo. I don’t wanna be lonely but I also try to avoid people , just recently took two flights to visit my sister and I was like get me outta of here. Hopefully I can work up the courage to see the world.
Watching this video first thing this morning was already my best decision of the day 😅😍 love a Holly travel vlog any day but it's even more special having been to (almost) all these places myself a couple of years ago - brings back so many beautiful memories 😊
The "mixed" dorm situation is hilarious but I'm glad they seem to be decent guys at lest 😁

Great travel vlog as always! It’s funny how we both had short travel trips, and traveled minimally around the same time. Hope you had a great time in Scotland!
I went to London for a job interview when I was finishing up my PhD. So I chose to book a bed in a hostel. I was a bit anxious about it as I’m picky about my sleep. Met a couple of Australian lads in the dorm who were nice which helped my anxiety. I went to get food, then came back to the dorm and got into my pjs as I wanted a good nights sleep before my interview. There was an older guy across from me who I got chatting to for a bit. He was a bit overly chatty and I had to be firm that I needed to sleep. It took a while for him to shush and I didn’t have the greatest night’s sleep. So on top of that and not being a morning person, I put on an alarm and I just wanted to gently wake up. The older guy was like ‘MORNING, GOOD LUCK FOR THE INTERVIEW’ well I felt like he was yelling. I ignored him as I don’t think he even slept as he was still in day clothes. Plus it was like 6:30/7 am. Like boundaries!

@@Msleah8784 thank you 🙏🏻. He was nice enough just didn’t have appreciation of social cues and I did my best if he wasn’t able to acknowledge social cues

5:40 Arthur's seat is a volcanic plug (which is what you were looking at) there is also one where Edinburgh Castle is situated.
Also want to say It is part of what once was a volcano but the plug is the magma which has cooled correct me if I'm wrong.

For some reason I find 6 bed dorms the best - still a good price, nice amount of people around that you can meet and hang out with and it's a bit less anonymous than a 10+, so I think people are a bit more respectful (though obviously it still is a bit luck of the draw!). I definitely recommend ear plugs for staying in dorms :)
The idea of being in a room full of snoring men is so funny lol. But at least they seem very nice people!

Yay you came to see my city!! My Sister worked at bross bagels and yes they have incredible bagels and vegan brownies. Also sea swimming gets fun after you get used to it! Makes you feel amazing

It's a time signal. They also have a ball that drops at the observatory so ships can tell the time. Legend has it an American heard the gun go off and the ball dropped and he said "that's good shooting".

Proper weird when you were on Porty beach, you were sat literally outside my flat by the looks of where you filmed!

I stayed and recommend the code pod right next to st giles. It had so much character plus the rooms are massive and literally are the old court rooms where people were tried unlike some hostels where they cram as many bunks in a room with barely room to move. The pods are really great for privacy and to block noise etc. But imo i would never moan about snoring as people are not doing it on purpose and just can't help it and if your staying in a dorm with others it should be a given so jusk take some earplug. Its much more annoying when they come into the room in the middle of the night and make a ruckus turning the light on etc.

@@HollyGabrielle I really admire that your super security conscious with locking your stuff away unlike me who just shoves all my valuables under the pillow or blanket while i go out for dinner or take a shower or worse just leave everything out having trust in people.....i'm defo taking a leaf out of your book to actually lock my stuff rather than leave it up to chance for my next trip.

Ear plugs. And if your a girl book all female dorms. Never had this issue because most of the hostels I stayed at were all female dorms. We’re much less likely to snore.
ive been in that hostel. it was decent hostel, weee bit over priced, but its an expensive city
