Thankfully at 16 my highschool girlfriends stepfather took me to see Roy Orbison just a couple months before he died.As a musician I had heard of him but was a fan after that night 33 years ago.
Saw Roy in Austin, Texas at Auditorium Shores in 100 degree heat while he sang and played, just 4 months before his death in 1988. Great show in the heat. What a voice, so good I think he'd win The Voice AND America's Got Talent and American Idol all rolled up into one.
It's a shame John Bonham & Stevie Ray Vaughan weren't included. Both truly legendary artists. Both have actual graves that can be visited for anyone who wants to pay their respects.

The 27 Club was started by Robert Johnson, who died at 27. They claimed he was possessed after visiting the 'Crossroads', because that was the only way he could have become that good on guitar in such a short time.
Such a well done tribute to these icons of music. Thanks for this, wonderful to see these Folks in their prime, and to see their resting places after a life of some of the very best music ever.

As someone who goes to many cemeteries, I've been to the supposed burial sites of Zappa and Orbison. They're very close to each other but if it is true that they're there, I think Zappa would've liked to be buried near Roy.

Was surprised the Allman brothers were not listed. They are buried here in my home town. Some of my family lived down the street from them when they were young. My cousin got to play with them on stage a few times before they died.

Their music certainly made a giant impact on many around the world and sadly, many of these icons died far too young. From Frank Zappa to Johnny Cash and Janis Joplin to Roy Orbison , David Bowie and Cut Cobain , their music ranged the gamut from blues to rock and country to pop and heavy metal and all in between. All of these talented folks will be missed yet remembered for the music and memories they created for their fans. It's difficult to imagine a world without their musical influence, thankfully it lives on. Thank you for all the good times you've created over the years . RIP to all

When I was in Paris in the mid-80s, I visited Jim Morrison, Edith Piaf, Proust & Frederick Chopin's grave sites. For me, it was a very personal thing & I was very humbled.
I had a blessed career as a studio singer for 60 years and during that time had the honor of working a few times with Ray Charles. He was a very kind and gentle man. RIP, you are missed.

Learning about the final days of these legends makes you appreciate life more, here they had everything, money, fame and fortune , but suffered horrendous personal tragedies and died painfully., I wouldn't want to trade places with them. RIP to them all.

Dennis Wilson was an alcoholic. He'd been drinking screwdrivers all day, and went to the spot where his old boat used to be moored. He was diving, looking for things he'd thrown overboard, when he had his boat there. Incredibly tragic.

He did manage to write some incredible music and be the force behind getting the band back together. His last relationship was with a very young girl, rumored to be Mike Love's daughter. They would stop by the store every morning, buy a big bottle of grapefruit juice, pour half out and fill it with vodka. Dennis had some demons and he lost the battle to them. Super tragic.
I remember the day I heard that Kurt died. I was only 14 at the time but Nirvana meant everything to me. I was completely obsessed with their music and style. When I heard what happened I refused to believe it and I remember my mother saying that I didn't leave my room or eat anything for days. It was by far (up until that point) the greatest feeling of loss that I ever felt. Still hurts too this day. Rest easy Kurt, and thank you for existing 🙏

As B is many marketeers' dream testing ground and a lot of my friends were nerds, 2 major cultures and people in transit visit the same shops), often we're the first to have access to novelties, incl brand new records. Their music their often English, short lived and small town musical influences. iled to notice how Nirvana drastically improved those cheaply made and nearly forgotten excellent ideas. I was stupid enough to take for granted Belgians' very early access to all musical novelties. Little did I know that B was marketeers' favourite testing area every rock fan would think of Nirvana as old wine in new barrels.

Very well done. I've visited the grave of Buddy Holly. In his hometown, Lubbock Texas. Buddy's gravestone has a Fender Stratocaster carved on it. And his name is spelled, "Holley," the original way his family spelled the name. (An early record producer misspelled it "Holly". That way stuck.
And the lesson to be learned from this list of rock legends is…………….don’t become a rock legend, it shortens your life expectancy dramatically (in most cases).
However musically talented, Jones was considered to be a nasty little shit by most of the other males around him. After the band fired him - for being an out of control drug addict, mostly - he hired a local gangster with a front construction company to rehab his country estate. "It was me who killed Brian" (or something like that) the gangster admitted on his death bed years later. Brian had realized that the contractor had been cheating and stealing from him pretty much non-stop, and one day when they were alone there fired him and told him to pack up his equipment and get out. Then went swimming in his swimming pool. The gangster/contractor became enraged, jumped on him as he swam past, and held his head under water until he drowned. Just another stupid drug addict rock star of the time dying for a reason (misadventure - swimming while high and/or drunk) related to his addiction, the local authorities assumed.

As someone who goes to many cemeteries, I've been to the supposed burial sites of Zappa and Orbison. They're very close to each other but if it is true that they're there, I think Zappa would've liked to be buried near Roy.

Their music certainly made a giant impact on many around the world and sadly, many of these icons died far too young. From Frank Zappa to Johnny Cash and Janis Joplin to Roy Orbison , David Bowie and Cut Cobain , their music ranged the gamut from blues to rock and country to pop and heavy metal and all in between. All of these talented folks will be missed yet remembered for the music and memories they created for their fans. It's difficult to imagine a world without their musical influence, thankfully it lives on. Thank you for all the good times you've created over the years . RIP to all

Art has that ability, I certainly believe that is its purpose, to excite ones emotions, As a artist ( mostly oil paint ) in a variety of mediums, a painting ,sculpture , novel or poem has the same effect for me as does musical notes regardless the instrument used, vocal chords included...lol it is for good reason we appreciate the phrase, Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...Art is for everyone , anywhere at any time. When I was in Paris in the mid-80s, I visited Jim Morrison, Edith Piaf, Proust & Frederick Chopin's grave sites. For me, it was a very personal thing & I was very humbled.
I had a blessed career as a studio singer for 60 years and during that time had the honor of working a few times with Ray Charles. He was a very kind and gentle man. RIP, you are missed.
All of these great artists who are now part of the "Rock & Roll Heaven Band" are the inspirational figures who's legacies made me the multi talented musician I am today!
God Bless their souls and thanks for the memories!

Learning about the final days of these legends makes you appreciate life more, here they had everything, money, fame and fortune , but suffered horrendous personal tragedies and died painfully., I wouldn't want to trade places with them. RIP to them all.
My thoughts as well. Here so many had it all, and so many of them numbed themselves with booze and drugs...not all, but many. So sad the outcome of those with all that talent that the world loved.

I think it worth mentioning, Bradley James Nowell (Sublime) Feb.1968 - May 1996. Died of heroin overdose in SF before the start of 1st major tour. Family scattered his ashes off Surfside CA, and placed a headstone in his memory at Westminster Memorial, Westminster CA

Leon Russell is buried in Memorial Park in Tulsa, Ok. They have since revamped his Church Studio on 3rd street off Utica, and it has memorabilia of his as well.
Cass Elliot had such a beautiful voice. It’s sad her weight got so much attention.

If they were depressed because they had no feet, well, that's understandable since feet won't grow back. But weight can be lost. People do it every day. Not with issues of being overweight. To be blunt, people who are and who stay fat, are really just lazy. That's a fact! I don't sympathize with lazy people. Sorry.

He did manage to write some incredible music and be the force behind getting the band back together.
His last relationship was with a very young girl, rumored to be Mike Love's daughter.
They would stop by the store every morning, buy a big bottle of grapefruit juice, pour half out and fill it with vodka. Dennis had some demons and he lost the battle to them.
Super tragic.

I remember the day I heard that Kurt died. I was only 14 at the time but Nirvana meant everything to me. I was completely obsessed with their music and style.
When I heard what happened I refused to believe it and I remember my mother saying that I didn't leave my room or eat anything for days.
It was by far (up until that point) the greatest feeling of loss that I ever felt.

This story is legit. In '91 I refused a free ticket for a small early try out gig of Nirvana in Belgium. Why? Because I had been spoilt too much. As B is many marketeers' dream testing ground and a lot of my friends were nerds, 2 major cultures and people in transit visit the same shops), often we're the first to have access to novelties, incl brand new records. Their music their often English, short lived and small town musical influences. iled to notice how Nirvana drastically improved those cheaply made and nearly forgotten excellent ideas. I was stupid enough to take for granted Belgians' very early access to all musical novelties. Little did I know that B was marketeers' favourite testing area every rock fan would think of Nirvana as old wine in new barrels.

This video is too depressing. All the old-school, genre-defining, groundbreaking rock stars are dropping off like flies. They are silent now, never to sing another song or play another note ever again. Thank God for the music they left behind to sustain us through the hard times in life. Very well done. I've visited the grave of Buddy Holly. In his hometown, Lubbock Texas. Buddy's gravestone has a Fender Stratocaster carved on it. And his name is spelled, "Holley," the original way his family spelled the name. (An early record producer misspelled it "Holly". That way stuck.

Where's Brian Jones? HE was the guy who formed the Stones, not Mick and Keith. Brian got shoved aside and kicked out of the band he started.
Brian Jones was one of the greatest of them all. Miles above everyone mentioned here except for maybe Ray Charles and Elvis.

However musically talented, Jones was considered to be a nasty little shit by most of the other males around him. After the band fired him - for being an out of control drug addict, mostly - he hired a local gangster with a front construction company to rehab his country estate. "It was me who killed Brian" (or something like that) the gangster admitted on his death bed years later. Brian had realized that the contractor had been cheating and stealing from him pretty much non-stop, and one day when they were alone there fired him and told him to pack up his equipment and get out. Then went swimming in his swimming pool. The gangster/contractor became enraged, jumped on him as he swam past, and held his head under water until he drowned. Just another stupid drug addict rock star of the time dying for a reason (misadventure - swimming while high and/or drunk) related to his addiction, the local authorities assumed.

There's a funeral home with a crematorium (sp?) that burnef down years ago (rebuilt) d/t not weighing a large body and the adipose tissue caused the fire...they always weigh the bodies now....they also provide inexpensive funerals....the building used to be a blues club back in the day. Meadowlawn is the name of the place.

Unfortunately Rory will never be remembered properly .Only real rock fans know of him , Irish radio and TV is a joke and only a few Djs will play his music on late night shows and you maybe get the odd documentary about him on Irish TV which is very rare . but in general 99.9% of Irish people have never heard of him, Only the good people of Ballyshannon in Co Donegal and the good people of Co, Cork honor him correctly .

In her case she was obese because of food and that's why she eventually went on a diet. In the overwhelming majority, people get fat and obese because they eat too much.

His final resting place has never been publicly revealed. He was a private person. He was cremated. His ashes could still be with his family. Part of them may have been interred with his daughter and first wife, but due to his private nature, it’s never been publicly stated
