FYI, Captain Jack kisses The 9th Doctor in "The Parting of the Ways" The "Rogue" kiss was more sensual and a beautiful scene, but not the first same-sex kiss on DW.

Captain Jack kisses his share of men in his years on Doctor Who as well as the acclaimed Who spinoff Torchwood.
Torchwood Children of Earth is some of the best television ever.

I feel like Russel is finding his feet with this season. During his first era in charge every season got better and better. I’m confident the same will happen. They need more episodes though.
Last I heard, Millie isn't leaving after one season. It was reported in April (THR) that she and Varada Sethu will both be companions for the next season.
1: I was one of the people telling John "take it easy now" when he suggested Mrs Flood would be meaningful. Yum, delicious crow 🫣
2: As such, I'm riding with him on the "watch Cherry Sunday" train
3: I was around and watching the Tom Baker run, and Sutek still didn't ring a bell with me at all (Old age? Maybe)

So happy to see another one of this videos!! I've been watching Doctor Who since 2005, but never watched more than a few specials from the original run... It's refreshing to hear from people who are geeks, but new whovians!

Glad you guys are back doing this. I have really enjoyed the past couple of episodes especially this week’s. If it is any indication of what’s in store for next season, I feel we are in safe hands. It is definitely reminiscent of how Eccelston’s run went with the pacing and story.

John I know you mentioned on Kristian's show recently that these Dr Who review videos are not getting many views, I for one through are really grateful that you and Mike are reviewing this season.
The season does feel rushed with the total season run of episodes only being 8, that's just over half of Matt Smith's first season (as a comparison) his had 13 episodes. Maybe Disney said you can have our dollars but we only want 8 episodes.
Ncuti and Millie are best Doctor/companion chemistry since Matt and Karen. It's such a shame that Millie is leaving so soon.
96% tomatometer but only a 27% audience score.

I actually knew who Sutek was! I was ten years old living in Australia watching Doctor Who and I LOVED that story. I recently showed that story to my partner, so I am very proud of my OG status!
People probably would've felt the same way when The Master came back to Doctor Who in 2007 yet RTD wrote that well and gave The Doctor and The Master a satisfying story

Lot of people are hinting “He who Waits” is Rogue, whose waited so long to be rescued that he becomes a villain.

There was another Star Trek reference when the Tardis skids into UNIT HQ - Colonel Christopher Ibrahim says "Doctor on the Bridge"... The bridge not a term usually associated with a building, unless it is over water, but is used with both sea and space going vessels...
Unless, of course, UNIT HQ isn't a building, but a space vessel that isn't in space at this moment.
RTD foreshadowed Sutekh in Devil's Chord as the sequence of the Doctor taking Ruby back to her present without dealing with world-ending threat echoed a similar scene with Baker and Sarah Jane Smith from Pyramids of Mars...

I was excited to see Sutekh again! I was born the year Pyramids of Mars was released, but didn't see it until about a decade later in a rerun on PBS. (Though I think maybe I'd already read the Target novelization by the time I got a chance to see it on TV.) My mother and I loved that story, we recorded it when it came on and probably wore the tape out rewatching it. 😄
Also I would have thought RTD’s work on Years and Years, and Cucumber, and Its A Sin would have informed his writing on this season of DW but it does not seem to have. Then again after his personal losses maybe he just wanted to do something that made him feel good. Hopefully for season 2 (which I know they’ve already shot) he pulls in more writers.
Tom Baker is I think 90 + so I don’t know if you’d get him. But I could see them visiting The Pyramids of Mars serial in the time window. I mean, maybe there’s a reason they used a VHS tape so the quality can be a little shaky.

Exactly right that most everybody went 🤔 with the reveal of our big bad. I've been watching dw since about 1980/4-5 years old, this would've been around the time Pyramids of Mars debuted on pbs in the US? Sidenote that the VHS of PoM was pretty prominent along with maybe 3 other classic dw stories for rental/purchase at video stores and like suncoast videos etc by the late 80s. Though PoM was never one of my fav stories of the tom baker era, jon pertwee was "my doctor" with tom as a 2nd, but never did suhtek pop into my mind that he'd return lol
With the TARDIS being infected, I wonder if we will get the return of Suranne Jones as the embodiment of the TARDIS in the next episode.
Just a thought...Susan Triad could STILL be his Granddaughter. Its possible Sutekh has possessed her as part of his revenge of the Doctor.

Sorry I’ve not watched your reviews sooner…I’ve been putting this series off because of the last few seasons not being great plus all the noise around people on the extremes of love and hate. Finally got around to it and I LOVE this series. The doctor is in! This last episode all in avengers tower wasn’t as great but still fun
I want Mrs. Flood to be the Doctor's granddaughter.

Vogel's feeling watching Rogue is my feeling watching The Acolyte week to week as a black guy. I can't fully get into it because in the back of my mind I have all the haters racist and sexist vitriol cloying at me, I'm already arguing with them in my head before I get to social media or youtube review comment sections. I gotta learn to let go.
And yeah I've been watching Who since its revival and I had NO IDEA who Sutekh was ahah
Wasn't a fan of Rogue as I didn't feel the chemistry between the 2 of them, probably because it was too fast. Rest of the episode was good.
Have you seen Tom Baker recently? Its not guna happen.
They could do some CGI deepfake stuff since they have Disney's backing and Bakers blessing if that doesn't completely break the bank. Or they could recast, they've recast previous doctors in the past.
The problem with the Rogue episode…these 4 aliens will kill the world .

That’s was the weakest part of the episode.
As to Doctor seemingly forgotten that he’s been married to women twice, or his love for Rose….

Rocha and Vogel : if I wasn't already a long time follower of this channel, I probably wouldn't even see that you cover DW. maybe you should try some tricks to push this out more. but you guys do make great reviews so I appreciate that you do reviews for DW regularly 👍👍 (of course the ONE TIME I was chomping at the bit to hear the Geek Buddies feedback on the Rogue episode was the week y'all skiiped it 😜😅) which broke my heart a bit 💔 because I thought the Whovian Negatrons got to you 🫣
