The CHILLS I got when I heard Gabriel Woolf's voice as Sutekh again. He's 91 years old and it's been nearly 50 years since Pyramids Of Mars but his voice still oozes malevolence. Absolute legend!

One of my favorite things about Gabriel Woolf's performance as Sutek is the calmness in his voice, which imho reflects the character's patience. This makes Sutek even more frighteningly because calm villians feel they have nothing to lose, that their opponents are beneath them, and that in their mind they're not a villian at all. This is why "Pyramids of Mars" is one of my favorite Classic stories and why Sutek has always scared the crap out of me. I'm looking forward to next week's episode and Jess's reaction.

"Doctor Who" actually was said in the first episode because of Susan.
The junkyard where they landed Idris was the "I. M. Foreman" junkyard.
Susan's fake last name was "Foreman" at Coal Hill School.
When two of her teachers followed her home, intrigued by her unearthly intelligence in class, they were introduced to The Doctor and one of them said "Nice to meet you, Dr. Foreman."
    The Doctor replied "Doctor Who?"

The first thing I did was come looking for reactions to this episode and not a single one of them was familiar with classic Doctor Who. Ever since early this morning I kept refreshing this page waiting for her reaction. It seemed to come out a little later than normal and it was driving me crazy thinking that maybe she wouldn't do it until next week along with the second part. It is so so frustrating that there are dozens and dozens of people who react to Doctor Who but none of them are classic exposed.

49 years later and Sutekh has finally returned! Pyramids of Mars was one of the very first Doctor Who stories I ever watched and helped me in becoming the Whovian I am today, so having this two-part finale actually be a soft-sequel to that with Sutekh returning felt very special, satisfying and rewarding to me. Sutekh is, not just the best one-time Classic Who enemy, but one of my personal favourite Who enemies of all time with no other enemy feeling this powerful, omnipotent and unstoppable. The Doctor was (and still is) clearly scared to death of him, and Sutekh could easily control him, even when he was nearly powerless. The build-up to his return here was perfectly doom-laden and foreboding, and I can't believe they managed to bring back Gabriel Woolf (who's in his 90's now) to reprise him again. He was also the voice of The Beast in the Tenth Doctor story The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit, who Carla name-drops here, which leads to the possibility that The Beast was perhaps another form/reincarnation of Sutekh.

*me watching* "Its the beast" omg its the devil back. "gabriel woolfs voice" omg it IS the devil back. "Sutekh" OMG.
that one line from carla, saying "its the beast" was genius writing in my opinion. I may have worked out it was sutekh. But because of that line, i thought they were teasing the devil, voiced by the same man. And that made the sutekh reveal that much more shocking and amazing

As a fan, my earliest memory, the episode that hooked me into "Doctor Who" back in the 70's, was “Pyramids of Mars“ with Tom Baker's 4th Doctor. OMG!!!
To see my first Whovian villain, Sutekh (and the honor of hearing him reprised by Gabriel Woolf), on screen for the first time in nearly 50 years... Yes, i was screaming with that reveal. Also, I'm glad to see your recognition of this character.
    Great reaction.

I started watching your journey when you had only just begun it. Now we have Sutekh back, and you’re literally one of the ONLY reactors to know what that even means. It’s honestly crazy to see how far your Who journey has taken you. I think you’ve technically seen more of the Classic era than I have at this point. As a fellow fan and reactor to your reactions, I couldn’t be more proud.

That whole scene in the Time Window is the most scared I've been by Doctor Who in years, normally I'm like 'adventure scared' but this was actual horror-suspense fear as Soldier Dude from Cheetham Hill stepped out of sight. Best scene of this whole season for me, everything looked so real (and yes I've watched the behind-the-scenes and I know why) and just really tapped into something inside me, including the music which was excellent. I'm so glad you've reacted to some of the Classic stuff because honestly I wouldn't have caught those references if I hadn't watched your reactions, so you genuinely made this a much better pre-finale for me, thank you very much!

As an aside, seriously have look at the behind the scenes video for his episode. The scene in the time window was originally supposed to be all green screen. The VFX team did some amazing work on actually creating the scene so the actors could see it, and it could move with the camera without the expense of Star Trek's AD Wall.

This is one of the best reveal/cliffhangers we've had in... a _long_ while! And it's so cool they managed to get Gabriel Woolf back to play Sutekh again, after all these years!
Way back in the Sarah Jane Adventures, they mentioned that the Trickster was part of the "Pantheon of Discord". I'm glad that's finally being expanded upon -- and I loved that they established a bunch of god-like beings from the Classic series as part of the Pantheon. The Toymaker, the Mara, and of course Sutekh himself!

Okay I’m going out on the biggest limb here but hear me out… Kate says to the Doctor ‘how can you have a granddaughter before a daughter?’ Now Susan has been a constant theme so far along with who is Ruby. Now what if and a big one at that Ruby is somehow the doctors daughter and Susan’s mother. Maestro said this ‘creature is very wrong’ which could be taken as maestro thought Ruby was human but after trying to kill her they realised there’s something else going on. Leading to the question of not what was Suetekh doing on Ruby road but why would a human baby be so important? Like I said huge limb and I’m probably very wrong but I like this theory so don’t slaughter me😂

I do find it a little weird to be so against Triad being Foreman (but not fully unreasonable or anything), we were given the TARDIS anagram too and a clear sign that Susan Foreman is going to be involved in some capacity, so it was never just the name Susan. (Also like, no reason it couldn't still be a Chameleon Arch) I stand by that even after the end of this episode, we still don't know Susan Triad's true deal, even if it now seems more likely that if Foreman's hidden in this story somewhere, it's Mrs Flood, not her (Doc: "Time Lords can regenerate their faces, it can save us from death or we can use it to hide ourselves away" almost the very next scene, Mrs Flood: "I'm always hiding myself away". Also the 4th wall thing)

The Mels you are remembering was Amy Ponds schoolfriend Mels, which turned out to be short for Melody. Remember now?
Mel was the companion when I first watched as a fan. [Time and the Rani] I didn't realise it was short for Melanie and I thought it was some kind of weird minimalist modernist sci-fi name. I soon watched Sarah and Harry, because the ABC didn't have enough 7th Doctor episodes to screen, so they alternated between 7th Doctor and 4th Doctor.

Mrs. Flood could still be Susan.
The Doctor tells Ruby one of the reasons a Time Lord can change is to "hide away". Mrs. Flood says, while she is hanging up her coat, "I feel like I've been hiding away forever sometimes". Or something like that.
Susan can also be "one who waits", because The Doctor literally locked her out of Idris and abandoned her in the 22nd century. He did it out of love and so she could be with someone. But, still look at it from her viewpoint.....
