I think Ruby has to be an anti-sutekh weapon. In Egyptian mythology Horus is supposed to be a god of the sky, whose eyes are the sun and the moon. Horus lost an eye battling the god Set (Sutekh is the Dr. Who stand-in for Set, and I think Pyramids of Mars might actually explicitly say that?) which is the story for why the sun is brighter then the moon. So the "Eye of Horus" in mythology is literally the Sun, and the Device in Pyramids of Mars takes the shape of a ruby. Then we get a character named RUBY SUNday. Personal theory is that Ruby is actually Horus incarnate, let in by the Doctor like all the other gods, and that Mrs. Flood is her Harbinger (and the woman who dropped her at the church)

I just rewatched the episodes up to legend of ruby sunday and as much as i would love for ruby to be the anti sutekh weapon i'm not too sure. Because maestro says in the devils chord after he captures her "how can a song have that much power? And power like him." And upon the doctor asking what they mean "the oldest one. On the night of her birth. But he can't have been there." To me that would mean that maybe that song got put into rubys soul like a homing beacon for sutekh to find her again. When Kate said the thing about “evil billionaire with alien technology” I figured it was a reference to Luke Rattigan and ATMOS from series 4. UNIT pretty significantly was not able to stop him and needed the Doctor to step in to save them and stop the Sontarans
To be fair Rose did not know what regeneration was until Christopher Eccleston regenerated because she at first thinks that he’s teleported and tells David Tennant to “bring him back” so it’s not uncommon for the Doctor to not really mention it to his companions

My dream is that I am right about Ruby's mother being River. I can definitely see Sutekh being defeated in the season finale, but that episode ends with the reveal that River is Ruby's mother and Ruby is Susan's. Then that would be followed up in the Christmas special. If only it were being written by Steven Moffat we could get River back in that episode. Oh, wait...
Susan Triad says her mother was a dinner lady. In "The Devil's Chord," Susan Twist PLAYED a dinner lady at Abbey Road Studios. Maybe that was her mother?? I'm surprised Elle missed this connection.
Not mentioning regeneration to Ruby earlier kind of makes sense as with his previous Best Mate (Donna) it wasn't until The Stolen Earth that Rose explained what was happening with the Doctor, that being regeneration.
yep I think the eye of horus in the form of a red gem is critical. but it got smashed in Pyramids. actual egyptian legend says the eye was healed (often thanks to the aid of Thoth). Now, that makes ruby a strong contender for a key role in defeating sutekh this time... but if she is only one fragment, where are the others and how many other pieces are there? we have two other characters who are apparently totally unconnected to the sutekh story, but who are being dragged into it and who have red-related names. Rose and Cherry. that would give us three 'fragments' in human forms. a triad of fragments if you like. you heard it here first
When she said she dreamed of Orange Skies, I simply thought she was talking about the sky in “Boom”, which being Wartorn and all I thought made sense 😅
Continuity error or wibbly wobbly timey wimey thing (or me just not paying attention)? After the conversation where Carla says: “Now go and get Mrs Flood...” We see a clock radio in the house displaying 15:08, just as Mrs Flood arrives. Why is the clock radio in Ruby’s house ahead of time? We know it's at least 90 minutes before Susan Triad is due to make her speech at 15:00.
I mean the clock does flash when Mrs Flood enters their flat as though her presence interferes with signals/time. Maybe it’s wrong because of her? Maybe it’s just always the wrong time cause of power cuts? Maybe the time means something?
Very astute. I think it’s important because initially I definitely thought it was weird that they had that little flash to the radio clock and it said something about storms. I didn’t even notice the time lmao but they don’t do anything like that by accident it was very clearly wanting to get our attention to that clock.
This has been bothering me too! I definitely don’t think it would be continually error, since 15.00 (3 pm) was an important time mentioned. I still think there is something weird with time happening, from the odd dates mentioned throughout the season.
@@kineticnotion yea something weird is going on with time or even maybe they are shifting between universes/realities. I’ve seen some people’s theories that say maybe we aren’t seeing the episodes in chronological order. Which makes sense sometimes it feels like the doctor and Ruby have spent a lot of time together but we don’t get to see the time they spent together. We know they had other adventures involving Susan twist because of the 2 places they mentioned they saw her that we as an audience didn’t get to see. Idk. Timey wimey, wibbly wobbly 🤷♀️
Another one: when Carla Sunday sees the dark cloud manifesting itself around the Tardis, she refers to it as the Beast, which is also the name used for the godlike creature in The Satan Pit. And as you noted, Gabriel Woolf voices both Sutekh and the Beast. And one final link: in The Pyramids of Mars, when the Fourth Doctor is listing the other names of Sutekh, one he lists is Satan.
😮 I was watching the close caption to legend of Ruby, Sunday, and the end part where in harbor began to speak I did not hear it clearly in my head until I read it, and she was clearly explaining the fact that from the original series decades ago Sotec has been slowly warming its way into the tardis in such a way that the doctor did not see it coming. What a fantastic way to bring the old series villain to today and all by a simple description.
I saw this idea expressed by someone else in the TH-cam whoniverse comment section earlier today, and while I realise it is an insane long shot, I love its basis in further word play: Rose Noble was complaining to Ruby that UNIT never give her proper work, asking her to investigate "shoplifting in Catford." If you steal something from "Catford" -- a "t," for example, you end up with C.A. Ford i.e. Carol Ann Ford. Who is it that is always looking for t/tea? Cherry Sunday. So....is Cherry actually Susan Foreman?! And will she at some point appear in her Carol Ann Ford form in the episode!? What I do feel more certain about is that Cherry will play a significant role. While her one-liners have been brilliant, you don't get someone as great as Angela Wynter for only a minor part. I found it interesting that Ruby stated it was her gran who requested and retrieved the CCTV footage rather than Carla. Perhaps Cherry is both Ruby's birth mother and Susan, but is currently in human form? Mrs Flood even seems to be watching over her...like a companion? I think Sutekh will be defeated by some kind of dormant power within Ruby, perhaps aided by Susan Foreman :)
I thought that Ruby might be the Doctor's great-granddaughter.If he scanned her and saw two hearts (which you didn't see if he did),he refused to acknowledge it till he knew her beginnings for sure.
okay, but the Sutekh beast looks like the dog head thing Sarah Jane Smith sees in the TARDIS that starts off Pyramids of Mars... like, i think that was the dsign they went with.
If WhoCulture sees this comment please mention it in a future video. I just realized that if you Disregard the Timeless child lore. The Doctor is In his Second Regeneration cycle. First Regeneration Cycle/Second Regeneration cycle William Hartnell/Peter Capaldi: 1st Doctor Patrick Troughton/Jodie Whitaker: 2nd Doctor Jon Pertwee/David Tennant: 3rd Doctor Tom Baker/Ncuti Gatwa: 4th Doctor Tom Baker and Ncuti Gatwa play the 4th Doctor of their respective Regeneration Cycle and they both Fight Sutekh.
If you look at the buttons on Ruby's denim jacket on the promotional material, they have some kind of marking on the buttons. I think the left is R and the right is S (Ruby Sunday) - But I'm not sure, it seems intentional, it could be an egyptian eye (The eye of Horus) - Either way, everything is intential - I admire the attention to detail.

Something i noticed, there are two "susan twist" at the same era (2023/2024). One is Susan Triad of course and the other is the woman in the bar on The Church on Ruby Road, so how does it work ? I cant find an explanation yet. XD
There's also the hiker in 73 Yards. Even if the timeline is erased, there was likely still a woman hiking in Wales who's probably teased about looking like this billionaire.
Maybe that timeline, when Susan is in the pub, partially change after the Doctor went to rescue baby Ruby in 2004? Because in the original timeline the Tardis wouldn't have been there. And even though he sortof reset it, time does keep changing around that event. So maybe in the og timeline she was there but tech Susan triad wasn't, and in the changed version it switched. Timey wimey stuff.

To be fair though about companions knowing about regeneration; Rose only found out from Nine when it started after all their adventures together, so doesn’t usually seem high on the Doctors list of need to know info for companions apparently
Twist isn’t Sutekh but a harbinger of his return. He appears in Unit. So who is twist before she became a harbinger? Sutekh is the lord of death. What if Twist is River Song resurrected from the library. The Doctor & River Song spent 24 years on that planet before her immediate demise in the library. But what if she got pregnant with the Doctors child? Riversong learns of the coming of Sutekh because it’s history for her and sends their child to Ruby Road. Ruby is Riversong & The Doctors child. Is Ruby Sunday. After Rubys adventures and leaves the doctor. As she grows older she marries becomes Mrs Flood and has a child “Susan” who ends up in Gallyfry meeting The First Doctor who the doctor recognised the dna as being his grandchild but unsure from when.
That would actually be an interesting way for them to explain how the doctor has a grandchild but not yet lol that line legit short circuited my brain and gave me a headache 😂
I think Mrs Flood is the next Missy. Sometimes helpful, randomly callous, seemingly sarcastic at random... We had thr Masters theme kicking in at the end.
Why would regeneration have been explained to Ruby? It wasn’t explained to Rose until it happened. It wasn’t even mentioned to Amy and Rory, or Bill, or Martha, or Yaz, Graham, Ryan. In fact, barely any companions from Nu Who are aware of it. Only 4 of them have actually witnessed it.
I thought that UNIT saying that they couldn't stop the obvious was a reference to the master. He became prime minister, worked for MI5, and the stuff Missy did with death.
I presume you are referring to Archangel, a possibility, but the Doctor reversed time so only a few , Martha, her Family, Captain Jack and himself remembered.
I haven't seen anyone talking about Susan saying "I darer to hope" at the Sutekh reveal scene, although it is what Ruby said near the end of 72 Yards 🤔
I know others have mentioned it elsewhere as well, but regarding Rose's assignment to investigate shoplifting in Catford, if you steal something from Catford, the letter T maybe, you are left with C. A. Ford. Or Carole Ann Ford, who played Susan Foreman. COINCIDENCE!!?? Almost definitely.
RE: The Doctor not explaining regeneration to Ruby: Remember that Nine didn't tell Rose about regenerating until he was starting to regenerate into Ten. I think there are other instances where he hesitates explaining it. I think sometimes it's a conscious choice on the Doctor's part if he doesn't think he will need to regenerate for a long time.
I don't know about HMRN, but at least in American Naval tradition, Captain on the Bridge is a common phrase said by the Officer on Deck/Watch, I assume it came from British seafaring tradition, but either way, that's why it's common on Star Trek, Trek space faring is heavily adapted from Naval counterparts including things like Ships of the Line, Naval terms llke Port, Bow, Aft, Stern, Starboard, etc.
At 06:37: “Does anyone else find it weird that the Doctor and Ruby have spent quite a lot of time together … and he hasn't got to the point of explaining regeneration to her?” Well, consider this: when Nine was starting to regenerate at the end of “Parting of the Ways”, it's pretty clear that he's never explained regeneration to Rose, either, and is trying to fill her in before he changes his face. So this is not exactly out of character for him.
The photo of the Brig is from the Seventh Doctor story Battlefield, which saw Lethbridge-Stewart come out of retirement to help fight Morgaine and Mordred.
At the start of Series 2, Episode 8 ("The Impossible Planet") - the Doctor exits the TARDIS - which was making an odd sound. The Doctor says to Rose "I wonder what's wrong with her. She's sort of queasy. Indigestion". Extra reference? Relevant to the Empire of Death - maybe?
6:37 Never mind that this is a precedent, since he's never been so open. He just did explain it. Not if-and-when he thinks it'll come to that or at the last minute while he's in the middle of regenerating. I don't think he's ever explained it more than half an episode before (even potentially) doing so.
This isn't canon or anything but there is a wild theory that the whole time, we find out that Ruby's mother could actually be River. There are some BIG gaps in that theory like in what time frame would River do this, why is she in a mysterious robe, who is the father, and this theory about Ruby being connected to Sutekh in a way. But I know for a fact that if it ends up true, 1: Ellie will faint. Not might, WILL. 2: River might be the most impactful and influential companion the Doctor has had... period.
This episode was amazing, and I really hope they don't fix everything in the next episode, what if it's a 3 parts finale? And I really think the doctor's granddaughter, Susan, might appear, I can feel it, I can see that happening in the last episode, after everything is solved...
One little detail which I picked up on which wasn't mentioned here - during the scene when Susan Triad hears the voice of Sutekh and starts getting confused and breaking down, she at one point says "I dare to hope", which is something Old Ruby said near the end of 73 Yards.
I assume that the Doctor not mentioning regeneration to Ruby until within an aired episode is for new Whovians (Disney Whovians) so they learn about this in preparation for the 16th Doctor. Setting the stage as it were. Disney plans to be in the Doctor Who business for the long haul.
Artron energy isn't just a "generic science-y energy," it's directly tied to the Time Vortex and time travel, as the harmless ambient radiation you pick up traveling through it, or powers it or whatever.
Wait a minute… at the end of The Giggle, 15 hammers 14s TARDIS and duplicates it, does this mean he also duplicated Sutekh? Are there 2 Sutekhs out there now?
12:05 Harriet also mentioned the Malus- Remember that scary demon face that was in the church and created a time window that Will came through in The Awakening? The Malus also appeared in the Tardis like Sutekh did. Also, did you notice Harriet shedding a tear when she spoke of the death and destruction?
Something that spiked my interest goes back to The Church On Ruby Road with the Susan Triad Heckler, when she asks Ruby to play Gaudete. This song refers to a very religious period in the Christian calendar which is Gaudete Sunday. This is also known as the 3rd Sunday of Advent (Ruby being the 3rd Sunday in her family). In The Devils Chord, Maestro mentioned that she had a hidden song within Ruby, which could be in reference to the very same day. The day itself in the bible refers to the story of John the Baptist, and it opens with a prophecy that the desert region will rejoice and sing and bloom with abundant flowers. (Sutekh wishes initially to render the earth into a dusty desert and destroy all life) The story also mentions that a saviour will ensure that "death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain any more, for the former things have passed away". This does suggest that Ruby is going to be key in this returning Saviour, potentially what/or whoever is on that planet that RTD mentioned.
Oh DAMN. THE FLUX, THE FLOOD; IS MRS. F. TECTEUN( or Rassilon that 12 deposed and exiled)‽ DOES THE DIVISION *WORK* FOR SUTEKH‽ They destroyed half the universe and Tecteun originally intended it to be the whole thing. Perhaps that was how a simple shaboggan was able to build machines to explore distant corners of outer space? Maybe she made a deal with Sutekh.
The call out of “Captain on the Bridge” (or Officer on the Bridge - depending on who is already there) comes from the Navy (1700/1800s I believe) By some odd quirk, space ships are always tagged to the Navy. Possibly because the first actual paid military force in the World was the British Navy. Weird one that…
One thing I don't think anyone else has noticed, is that during the rehearsal for the big presentation, some canned chanting of 'Susan!' is played in response to her appearing on stage - She even comments, that it's a bit mad. as she's not Beyonce. However, some of the chants sound more like 'Sutekh' than 'Susan'... I'm pretty sure. What do you think? It's at about 5:45 into the episode.
Am I the only one who has notice the TARDIS having red lights coming out of it in the intro of the series.... Or am I the only one? Plus i think i was foreshadowing for this.... Also have a beautiful and fantastic day for the rest of you all! :D
I just posted a question about the Tardis in the intro, since Russel said something was going on that we should pay attention to, but I couldn't see anything. Do you know if the red light appears in all of the opening titles?
Not weird he didnt tell Ruby about regeneration, Donna and Rose both didnt know about it by the end of their seasons with him. Clara too, but that was a half season.
Additionally: Gabriel Woolf voiced "The Beast" in series two, and when Sutekh was revealing himself, Ruby's mother Carla says "I know its name. It's the Beast!"
Don't know if its been mentioned. The pattern (straight line) on Sutekh's head that was pointed out, is the answer to the floor puzzle riddle from Pyramids of Mars.
The FIRST Doctor had a Time Window on the TARDIS. It looked more like a portal. They even watched abit of the Beatles singing on it. Also in the clip where they were talking about Artron energy, those dials, I think (could be wrong), are from Forbidden Planet.
Old Ruby in 73 yards talking to the Tardis/Doctor; "I dare to hope" and Susan Triad talking just after Sutekh starts speaking "and I hope...I mean, I dare to hope". Is I dare to hope a common phrase in England? Because if not, the phrasing seems delibirate. Like how 'hiding themselves/myself away' is.
About Ruby not knowing about regeneration let me just go back every time the companion first found out about each regeneration. Rose Tyler did not know about regeneration until the final episode of series one. Martha Didn’t know anything about the regeneration until the master came back at the end of series 3 Donna didn’t know about regeneration until the end of series 4. Clara didn’t know either. My point is, why are you questioning the fact that Ruby didn’t know when no other companion knew?
Yes! I saw that, this time. Had to rewind it several times. I was thinking "surely they can't have missed that?" But miss it - at the time of *original* broadcast - was exactly what I did! Yeah, I'm _that_ old.
I bet the comment on "what is the memory of a tardis?" in the time window was a foreshadowing of Ruby going in it while being stuck in the time window room and it being linked to the memory tardis that we've been seeing all the past drs and companions. Would be awesome.

Yes, because people that watch Whoculture really care more about maritime protocol than sci-fi stuff. Nailed it guys.
@@dariley95971 They probably care about accurate facts, and Star Trek did not invent "Captain on the bridge".
@@melonhead118 And if she said that Star Trek invented the term, you'd have a point.
@@dariley95971 it’s not about preference it’s about the truth. It’s a naval term first and foremost - you can’t just tenuously claim it’s an Easter Egg when it’s just simple military lingo.

This is a regular thing. Martha was only told in 42 when The Doctor thought he'd die, Donna only found out when he regenerated, Clara found out in Time of The Doctor, Amy and the Fam only found out early because the Doctor had just regenerated
Nobody is mentioning that Mrs Floods accent changes when she speaks to Cherry. I am pretty convinced she's Susan. Hiding and she has some knowledge of what Ruby is and has been keeping her safe.
Yeah, I'm surprised on how few reactors have noticed that in their watches of the episode!
I honestly thought it was just me who noticed that as was really surprised that not a single TH-camr had brought that up
I think the twist will be that she's a different Time Lord instead. Who knows how they survived, but Time Lords are pretty crafty.
Susan would've made her a cup of tea
tbf I'm Canadian and British accents just sound like a singular British accent to me lol
That is a Borg was my exact though after seen her.
I seriously hope colonel sexy... I mean Ibrahim doesn't turn a bad guy, I'm interested in seeing him more around the show.
Nice video!
Lol "you'd think that was one of the things he'd explain to her"
9 was literally half dead before decided to tell Rose (in the most cryptic way possible)
Captain on the Bridge is a pretty standard naval term. Star Trek got it from the military not the other way round.
6:48 The 9th doctor didn’t tell Rose about regeneration until he was about to regenerate
True that
Yup..its a little trick we timelords have,a way to cheat death..and ur gonna see me change..and want see this daft ole face now more...🥺
And Martha didn’t know still Jack tell her and she witnessed the master’s
Then Donna found out when the doctor start to regenerate.
Which was also weird! I just think they'd realistically tell them sooner
yep I think the eye of horus in the form of a red gem is critical. but it got smashed in Pyramids. actual egyptian legend says the eye was healed (often thanks to the aid of Thoth). Now, that makes ruby a strong contender for a key role in defeating sutekh this time... but if she is only one fragment, where are the others and how many other pieces are there? we have two other characters who are apparently totally unconnected to the sutekh story, but who are being dragged into it and who have red-related names. Rose and Cherry. that would give us three 'fragments' in human forms. a triad of fragments if you like.
you heard it here first
"You may be a doctor, but I am THE Doctor... the definite article, you might say..." - 4th Doctor to Harry Sullivan, post-regeneration
When she said she dreamed of Orange Skies, I simply thought she was talking about the sky in “Boom”, which being Wartorn and all I thought made sense 😅
Or, you know, Mars?
Well, the TARDIS had landed on Gallifrey.
9 didn't explain regeneration to Rose until he had to regenerate, and they'd been implies to be together for a long time before Bad Wolf.
When Susan said she dreams of orange skies I assumed she was referring to the planet in boom but it would be awesome if it was a nod to Galifray
She was but people love looking for stuff that's not there specially our Ellie that's why we watch 😂
There's no reason it couldn't be both
Or Mars as a direct reference to Pyramids of Mars.
The planet on Boom had orange skies? I'll have to have another watch
I'd still pet him
If WhoCulture sees this comment please mention it in a future video.
I just realized that if you Disregard the Timeless child lore. The Doctor is In his Second Regeneration cycle.
First Regeneration Cycle/Second Regeneration cycle
William Hartnell/Peter Capaldi: 1st Doctor
Patrick Troughton/Jodie Whitaker: 2nd Doctor
Jon Pertwee/David Tennant: 3rd Doctor
Tom Baker/Ncuti Gatwa: 4th Doctor
Tom Baker and Ncuti Gatwa play the 4th Doctor of their respective Regeneration Cycle and they both Fight Sutekh.
The orange skies thing was NOT galifray it was in referance to the planet from Boom all the things she listed was referencing things we already saw or knew
What is with people( especially the younger generations) and false dichotomies lately( since 2016ish)? There's no reason it can't be both. She did say skie*s*, plural, right?

Something i noticed, there are two "susan twist" at the same era (2023/2024). One is Susan Triad of course and the other is the woman in the bar on The Church on Ruby Road, so how does it work ? I cant find an explanation yet. XD
There's also the hiker in 73 Yards. Even if the timeline is erased, there was likely still a woman hiking in Wales who's probably teased about looking like this billionaire.
@@deadpuppetsociety Indeed !
Triplets in the Triad family - one likes pubs, because of her dinner-lady lineage, the other likes walking long distances, due to the postman-parent and the third just got techy and scooped up lots of money by investing in alien technology? 3 male "collectors" and rich idiotes came before her + that "dumpster-pile Trump" 13th got problems with
To be fair though about companions knowing about regeneration; Rose only found out from Nine when it started after all their adventures together, so doesn’t usually seem high on the Doctors list of need to know info for companions apparently
Yes I wondered that too, especially when she switched to the Scottish accent when she was talking to Cherry.
13:20 the hand holding the cushion still when Sutekh stands up!!
I am LOVING that 'Clare Grogan/Christine Kochanski' hairstyle, Ellie!!!
I haven't seen anyone talking about Susan saying "I darer to hope" at the Sutekh reveal scene, although it is what Ruby said near the end of 72 Yards
🤔
Just posted the same thing. Feels like it's more than a coincidence.
I love this.
@@Jordan-zl4pn If they have done this on purpose, delightfully clever easter egg.
3:09 i thought they where talking about The Master when he was Saxon
But the following line is "We'll get him", suggesting it's someone currently active.
The orange skies reference is probably just a reference to Mars.
I'm still holding on to my "Who is your your next of kin", "WHO is My next of kin", thing with the ambulance.
Tegan knew the Mara. Tegan worked for UNIT in the 13th/14th Doctor's era ... hmmmm ....
6:55 technically it’s not that weird, Rose wasn’t told about regeneration until 9 was starting the process
11:36 Doesn't the planet the episode of boom is set on, have an orange sky?
6:37 Never mind that this is a precedent, since he's never been so open. He just did explain it. Not if-and-when he thinks it'll come to that or at the last minute while he's in the middle of regenerating. I don't think he's ever explained it more than half an episode before (even potentially) doing so.
I need River back as Ruby's mother and this connection sound wonderful❤
I hope Ellie gets her wish and River gets her timey whimey return…but I think it’s more likely to happen when Moffat next writes an episode.
2: River might be the most impactful and influential companion the Doctor has had... period.
Honestly, I took the orange skies to reference Mars
The base on mars could also be a set up for waters of mars happenning around 2059.
Artron energy isn't just a "generic science-y energy," it's directly tied to the Time Vortex and time travel, as the harmless ambient radiation you pick up traveling through it, or powers it or whatever.
Entitled to reference the Borg, since they were borrowed from the Cybermen.
Wait a minute… at the end of The Giggle, 15 hammers 14s TARDIS and duplicates it, does this mean he also duplicated Sutekh? Are there 2 Sutekhs out there now?
As far as the magazines are concerned at 2:15, has anyone made the connection with Torchwood's strapline "This is when everything changes"?
12:05 Harriet also mentioned the Malus- Remember that scary demon face that was in the church and created a time window that Will came through in The Awakening? The Malus also appeared in the Tardis like Sutekh did.
Also, did you notice Harriet shedding a tear when she spoke of the death and destruction?
Ellie, I always love watching your video's and your joy & love for Doctor Who makes me have a better day! Thank You!!! : )
Tbh a lot of companions rarely have regeneration explained to them unless they witness it. I.e Rose, Sarah Jane, Clara
Captain on the bridge being a Star Trek thing? It's a basic naval thing a LONG time before that surely?
Correct ;)
With regard to the 'Doctor on the Bridge' quote, a Dalek also announced 'Emperor on the Bridge' in Remembrance of the Daleks in 1988

Oh DAMN. THE FLUX, THE FLOOD; IS MRS. F. Perhaps that was how a simple shaboggan was able to build machines to explore distant corners of outer space? Maybe she made a deal with Sutekh.
The call out of “Captain on the Bridge” (or Officer on the Bridge - depending on who is already there) comes from the Navy (1700/1800s I believe)
By some odd quirk, space ships are always tagged to the Navy.
Possibly because the first actual paid military force in the World was the British Navy.
