I'm not sure if you will answer this but how would you train a puppy that will wait until they go inside to go potty? I take her out once or more an hour while i am home but she seems to wait to go back inside. She also seems to want to go right back in, she will sit and whine after walking for a few short minutes. My last question is how would you train a puppy to walk on a leash if they refuse to walk?

My other dog played along and he became intrigued - now its a daily part of our routine - about 3 times a day we do the shell game and the muffin tin game. I am so grateful for coming upon your training techniques!

I legit started laughing when he was saying not to punish your puppy when they go inside because you may not have controlled the environment well enough or weren't consistent enough and then says to us "maybe do a better job next time". I am 110% loving the it's your fault not the dogs, because it's so true dogs have no clue at first that you don't like when they pee in certain areas, it's your job to teach them that.

I'm so lucky to have my new puppy named 'Knight'. He's a month old and he's a genius one. We haven't train him yet 'cause we just got him the other day but he is so behave and responsible. Everytime he wants to pee or poop, he cried in front of our door as if telling us that he wants go out and then we discover that he wants to pee or poop when he directly search for a perfect place for him to do his things. After he finished, he went back inside our house and play with us... We're so happy to have him.

Probably the best instructional training video we've seen! It's really working!
When we first got Albie 4 months ago he was 8 weeks and we couldn’t keep up with the pooing and peeing. We had him in his crate and a play pen surround. To start with it was all the time but eventually after a week of settling in he was taken out every 30 mins regardless to do his business. Every time he did go outside he was praised and given a treat. If he messed inside we would stay calm and take him outside so that he knew. Now 6 months later he’s doing his business outside and he lets us know especially re poop as he goes bonkers before. It takes dedication and patience but do not give up hope your puppy will learn. Albie still has accidents but very very few. Videos like this are always very useful indeed. Good luck.

Paco - You probably aren't giving yourself credit for how much attention, and how much love you gave your dog. However, I understand that regret feeling. Recently I lost a human friend to cancer. I was filled with regret that I hadn't spent more time with her, gone kayaking when we had the chance. etc. etc. At her Life Celebration, I had an epiphany; My friend loved me unconditionally - she would discourage my spiralling regret. She would suggest instead that I put my energy into the Present with purpose, passion and planning. Purposefully spend time with someone (or somepuppy) you love, Passionately live in the moment, and Plan for more connections and joy. I am sorry for your loss.

I recommend going to Walmart and dollar tree. Dollar tree has leashes and food bowls etc and Walmart has huge bags of food for $13 instead of food at petco for $70! Sams club has really cheap potty mats too! I know I’m late but hope it’s going well
You are saving my life! My adopted boxer passed away at 13 this past June. She was adopted at 4. I’m still grieving however I felt a new dog would help ease that pain and unexpectedly I fell in love with a 12 wk old puppy at a rescue who came in a few weeks ago, the whole litter, all of her brothers and sisters. I took a look at all of them and one of them was just sitting all prim and proper not saying a word vocally, while the others were barking like crazy and she was just staring at me. I knew then she was the one. I only found out after I decided I wanted her from across the way after that look that she was part boxer/hound. It was fate! I wanted another boxer and there’s nothing wrong with a mixed breed. I know the hound in her will keep me busy but I’m disabled and home all day so I have the time and with a little ok a lot of patience, I hope to teach her to be an outstanding young lady.
12 weeks old! No potty training yet for this girl! I have all my supplies crate teething choose so many Nyla bones etc. but I’ve never had a puppy before. Your videos honestly are going to save my life. I’ve watched many before just because I enjoy them but now I need them! I’ve made sure that Alert bell is on!
She gets spayed tomorrow and then I get her take her home on Saturday. I hope you have a video on taking care of them after they’ve been spayed or neutered. I’m sure you do.

Our puppy got house trained rly fast, what we did was really easy. Everytime he woke up we took him out, everytime he eat we took him out after, everytime we finished playing we took him out. And everytime he peed or pood outside he got lots of treats and praise, and NO PUNISHMENT FOR DOING HIS BUISNESS INSIDE ❤️

HOUSETRAINING > Supervision Method (for stay-at-home owners).
This method is not for everyone. It’s not the easiest and it’s not the quickest. However, I truly believe it is the best, most humane method that nurtures a good bond between dog and owner and teaches dogs a lot of valuable skills in the process. Having said that, many owners simply don’t have the luxury of supervision training. Do not look down on crate or pad training, etc. Supervision may not be the best for you.
1. SCHEDULE
• Feed your dog at the same times every day. (suggested: 3 times - 8am, 1pm, 5pm)
• Keep dog outside for about half an hour after eating and praise the dog when it eliminates.
• Take dog outside about every 2 hours, especially late at night (and immediately after a nap or play session).
• Close supervision will ensure you learn your puppy’s elimination habits. It is often said, as a generalization, that if you take the dog’s age in months and add one to it that’s how long they may take to hold their eliminations.
2. PUNISHMENT AND DISCIPLINE
• Establish an elimination spot. Take your dog to the SAME spot every time. And Take them immediately outside after a mistake.
• Punishment for accidents is not recommended at all, especially for rescued and / or small and stubborn dog breeds. Accidents are YOUR fault in this method of training. The dog is likely to learn that messing in front of the owner = punishment and not that messing in the house = punishment. It will also teach them not to tell you when they need to be taken out when the door is closed.
• Puppies learn the preferred material to pee on. Refrain from adding popular methods such as newspaper / pad training if you can help it. They won't find such material outdoors.
• Establish an elimination word. Praise your dog for going outdoors and use a word, such as “go” immediately as you see the dog eliminate. Use training commands consistently ensure that each command is notably different. It will associate this word with elimination. Praise the dog after elimination.
• NB: bathroom time is bathroom time. No playing or interacting with the dog while outdoors waiting for them to do their business.
• Treat your dog as training progresses. Be careful not to add too many calories to your puppy’s diet / cause diarrhoea. Consult a veterinarian about appropriate treats. Minute amounts of real chicken are often suggested.
• Clickers normally aren’t necessary for housetraining. Dogs know how to eliminate, just not where to eliminate.
3. RULES AND TIPS
• Clean mistakes up thoroughly with a non-ammonia based cleaner. Do not use bleach or vinegar. Pet stores may have specialized sprays for housetraining purposes.
• Recommended: keep the puppy attached to your belt, with a lead, when you're busy doing something and cannot supervise closely. Alternatively, leave your dog outside for a limited amount of time (you do not want the dog to consider the yard as its primary living space). This is the supervision method, so if you cannot watch your dog almost 24 / 7 this method may not be for you.
• Whenever you see your dog passing the door (the door that leads to the elimination area) take your dog outdoors immediately. Yes, even if your dog is just playing or casually passing the door. Teach your dog that going to the door means going outside. This will prevent night time accidents in future.
• Be patient. This process may take weeks or even months. Work at your dog’s pace and never assume training is finished, although it may be safe to assume training is over when no mistakes have been observed over the period of a month.

Peggy Berge hello there! So I really think this post of yours is helpful. I do have a quick question. How do I go about it with an 8 week pupp who just got her first shot and dewormer? I’ve been getting told not to take her outside the house at all to avoid her catching parvo or anything. She’s been having a lot of accidents. And I’ve fallen into the wrong way of approaching those situations due to following bad info/tips. I feel so bad now. I don’t want her to be scared of me or anything like that. Help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Actually, my puppy just follows me wherever I go, never out of my sight. I think it's because he's a fast learner or he's just clingy. Super heart warming and it's my first time with a pet! Though sometimes I get worried when I leave him with my brother since he doesn't really have the same attitude towards my brother...
God bless you Zak. Your videos are wonderful. I had a dog before that I was able to crate train in three days seriously. She was always so easy. Our new puppy has been a different story and I cried and regretted getting her because it’s been close to two weeks and she hasn’t made a much progress. I learned a lot from your video and I feel SO much better and am ready to try a whole different way. I wasn’t able to crate train this one -long story. BUT we have three cats who usually go outside and guess what?? She has been eating their poop! I was so bummed when I saw that. To top it off, two of our cats have had bad diarrhea and the vet has yet to help them. So I’m really dealing with several things here and am feeling overwhelmed. But this video did help and I thank you so much. Btw I bought some chews I just started giving her today that are supposed to take her desire for the poop away. I have also sprinkled black pepper on the poop when I saw her trying to get to it. It seems to work so far! Any advice??

I read if the crate is too large he thinks of it as a studio apartment and picks an end fro the toilet. My mom generously gifted mine a crate he could ice skate in, so I anticipate this happening to me soon. Hang in there

This makes me feel better about my 10wk old just not getting the idea of asking to go out. We’re teaching her to push a button to potty and she generally goes whenever she’s outside but she still tends to go inside when we aren’t consistent enough with potty breaks

i just got a puppy and he keeps peeing on the carpet, then we take him out side and he doesn’t pee! aghhhhh!!!!!
c a r m e n Stay outside with him until he pees, and then praise him when he does. And if he ate an hour before or so stay out an extra while. Trust me! My dog pooped inside our house bc I wasnt outside long enough.

A 20 minute plan works great! That means, every 20 minutes, take your dog out. At night, every 2-3 hours. After a while, go to a 30 minute plan, and so on
